"My partner and I received exceptional service
from Mr. Bennett who was very knowledgeable in
the area of business startup. Mr. Bennett was
very kind and showed good social/people skills.
Glad someone gave us the recommendation to
see him." – Michelle B., Warren County
JSU SBDC
"Working with Dana (Cawthon) has been a true
blessing in getting my business started. She
inspired me to not give up on my dreams of
being a business owner. I never knew this would
be such hard work and rewarding at the same
time. Her invaluable service to help develop cash
flow projections really highlighted the chance to
create jobs for myself and my family. The
preparation of a business plan was time
consuming, but necessary for bank financing.
The investment on my part has been hard to
swallow. I did exceed my initial start-up cash
infusion, but after researching the various
activities and equipment needed to create a
quality establishment-- it was worth it.
I highly recommend Dana to others who seek
expert advice in their business. The services are
complimentary and first class. We will continue to
seek her advice for years to come." - Scottie
For decades, North Mississippi has struggled to
offer a variety of physical activities for children
that are safe and open year round. The mall or
movie theatres have been the main source of
weekend fun. One Guntown couple realized their
money making opportunity, and was inspired to
think like an entrepreneur.
Scottie and Lindsay Thompson attended a SBDC
seminar in 2013 on "How to Develop Your
Business Plan" taught by Mr. Charles Killebrew.
They began a process of analyzing market data
and researching existing businesses in other
markets to help develop Scottie's idea into a
viable business opportunity.
When Mr. Killebrew retired from the SBDC, Ms.
Dana Cawthon became the Tupelo counselor.
She started working with Scottie and Lindsay in
the early part of 2015 in developing a new
venture for children entertainment. Scottie's
background included party rentals and event
planning. He rented inflatable water slides and
bouncing houses for private birthday parties.
Parents often expressed the need for inside
activities for young children since the mid-South
has extreme cold or hot weather. In addition,
news reports surfaced displaying the risk of high
winds and inflatable bounce houses were

"My experience was very informative. It finally
gave me a sense of direction in terms of where I
wanted my business to go." - Antonio B., Hinds

"Dustin Odom is very knowledgeable about all
questions asked. He has a wealth of information
for me to able to use." – Anita R., Lauderdale
County
UM SBDC
"Very informative and happy with the service. We
were specific info on how to do a business plan.
This is the first time I have ever experience such
good and knowledgeable service. Thank you." –
Kitty L., DeSoto County
"The information I received help me to reevaluate
my plan and ideas for my business. It was
greatly appreciated. Thank you."- Tammy S.,
Lafayette County
"I appreciate the information on the tapestry
map. It will help me to focus on the areas that
need my services." – Chuck C., Alcorn
USM SBDC
"Meeting with Rita Mitchell with MSBDC was the
best decision I have made in a long time. The
meeting was enlightening and promising. It is
refreshing to speak with someone about my
vision who shows interest and provides
substantial input." –Vixon S., Lamar County
dangerous. When discussing the market
research with Scottie, he decided to explore
offering this service in a facility.
Location is an important element of success in
any community. Finding a suitable space to fit
the needs of the business can be challenging;
especially in North Mississippi. After weeks of
searching, Scottie settled on an existing 30,000
square foot building in Saltillo.
The process of opening any business can take
months of planning and research. It is better to
plan on HOW to spend a dollar rather than the
actual spending of a dollar. Scottie worked with
Dana on preparing a business plan, budget, and
cash flow projections. Many revisions later, he
still ended up investing 24% more than he
anticipated and exceeded expectations for
revenues in the first month.
Scottie and Lindsay opened the HOUSE OF
BOUNCE on September 2, 2015. Parents can
enjoy a comfortable setting area where they can
view and monitor their children. There is a tasty
snack bar which includes a delicious pizza menu.
To book your next birthday party, please call
662-869-5373 or simply stop by at 110 North
Front Ave, Saltillo.
