2. Synopsis
‘PINK’ follows a group of four friends who have known each
other since primary school. They formed a band at a young age
and have been playing together for 9 years. After their lead
guitarist moved away for two years, the band are on the brink of
falling apart and a long with it, their friendship. Pink has
returned to try and make things right again.
3. Band Members
Pink is the lead guitarist of the band. An anxious person who
sometimes speaks before he thinks and never takes no as an
answer.
John-Paul is the drummer of the group and is also Simons brother.
He tends to get on well with everyone, with the exception of Pink.
Syd plays bass guitar and usually finds herself being the voice of
reason of the group. Usually she will have to break up the
arguments between John-Paul and Pink
Simon is lead vocals and is Pinks best friend. He’s always had an eye
for fame however with Pink moving away he’s never felt more far
away to achieving it.
4. Influence - Music
‘PINK’ has a lot of influences concerning it’s themes, how it will be shot and the overall
feel of the film.
Firstly each character is named after a band member from popular influential bands:
Pink got his name from the song ‘Have a Cigar’ by Pink Floyd where they mock
people who think Pink Floyd is a name.
Syd is named after Syd Barret, Pink Floyds first singer
Simon is named after Simon from Simon and Garfunkel
John-Paul is named after John-Paul Jones, drummer of Led Zeppelin
5. Influence - Directing
When shooting ‘Pink’ we’re aiming to mimic the conventions of
an EdgarWright film. (E.g Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim, Shaun of the
Dead,The Worlds End)
This means that we are trying to includeWhip pan transitions,
matching scene transitions and extreme lighting queues.
6. Where we are at & what we can do
Draft 1 and 2 were all the ideas we could put together, Draft 3
has cut it down and simplified it so there’s not as much going on
and it’s much more realistic.
Currently we’re writing draft 3 of the script which will hopefully
be the final draft. We have ordered all of the equipment we’ll be
using and we’ll be filming as soon as we can.
Concerning what we can do, here is a brief teaser of a previous
film we made:
7. Equipment List
2 x Nikon D3300 DSLR Cameras
2 x 18-55 mm Nikon Lens

8. Objectives
We want to learn from the mistakes we made with the first film
and make sure we include a key criteria for this film.
Our criteria includes:
Use of dolly zooms
Stick to EdgarWright Conventions
3 point lighting
Improved cinematography
