This presentation gives an overview of some of the activities we used to make Patient First an action oriented strategy in Alberta Health Services. This poster won the "Transformation" award at the Quality and Safety Summit 2017. @AlbertaPFCC
We held 3 co-design workshops with patients and AHS staff
Total number was 100 people for the face to face workshops and 106 people for the virtual session
Every person created a story board of the idea that they want to execute in Alberta
We wanted to find out what was holding people back now – how do they feel about doing this work
Empathy map results:
This is what people told us when we asked them: “what is it like to bring change our services to be more patient and family centred?”
Co-design goes beyond consultation by building and deepening equal collaboration between people affected by, or attempting to, resolve a particular challenge. Users are experts of their own experience, and become central to the design process.
Co-design combines lived experience with professional expertise to identify and create an outcome, service or product.
Healthcare co-design is founded in the idea that services are created WITH patients, instead of FOR patients.
