2. One verb
• If there is only one verb in the sentence:
– John goes to school.
• Then you use a form of ‘To Do’ to ask a question or to give a
negative answer:
– ??? Does John go to school by bike?
– XX No, John does not go to school by bike.
3. Two verbs..
• If there are two verbs in the sentence:
– Sarah is reading a book.
• Then you don’t need another verb to make a question or to
make a negative:
– ?? Is Sarah reading a romantic book?
– XX No, Sarah is not reading a romantic book.
