Scholarly Database Analysis
Scholarly databases are full– text collections of articles from the newspaper, journals, and electronic reference sources. They are intended for people
who have a knowledge of the topic and are using it for informative purposes. The articles are usually written by scholars or researchers and always
have references, credentialing and also most of the times a DOI number. The DOI number is a " Digital Object identifier" which is a standard unique
number given to a specific article more like an ID number. One of the many advantages of a scholarly database is that it's usually non–profit and are
peer reviewed and which can further guide one's search. These databases are checked for accuracy by the publishers and before these get published, go

The information available on these websites may or may not be written by a scholar or one having knowledge of the topic. This information can be
biased and can be influenced by advertisements or the owner of the website. In today's world anyone can create a website for less than a hundred
dollars. Also, content reliability and credibility are also big points to question. The qualifications and contact information can be difficult to trace. There
are no website policies that the websites have to adhere to get started. Although there is one organization that regulates and acts as a " watchdog". It's
the Health on the net foundation – HON with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The seal of approval is free for display but is based on eight
criteria which should be passed by the website – authoritative, privacy, complementary, attribution, justifiability, transparency, financial disclosure and
advertising policy. The HON looks at the credentials of the scholars, writing information, citations with dates, sources of publication, financial
disclosure, and advertisements. Ease of accessing the website and the performance based on the content and illustrations and also updates made on the
websites and if it's keeping up with the growing medical information and

Several databases were used for this review. Sources primarily came from EBSCO, which included Academic Search Complete, Education Full Text,
OmniFile Full Text Mega, General Science Full Text, EBSCO Professional Development Collection, and Social Sciences Full–Text databases. In
addition, the EBSCO eBook Collection and the EBSCO ebrary collection for full–text books were utilized. Other databases used for this review include
Google Scholar and ERIC. The search was narrowed by limiting sources to academic journals and books. Where possible, only peer–reviewed sources
were used. Some keyword descriptors did not produce results within the peer–review parameters. The keywords searched included individual searches
or pairings of the following words: augmentative and alternative communication systems, severe/multiple disabilities, severe communication
impairments, pre–service special education teachers, communication disorders, competencies, knowledge and skills, special education, AAC,.
Limitations of the search results. While sources for this review were obtained from academic and scholarly sites, the number of peer–reviewed sources
was limited. To maximize academic integrity of the source material, all sources were taken from academic journals or from books published by
qualified experts in the field. In addition, while the research questions focused on instructional preparation of special education teachers using AAC,
few sources on the combined delimiters were available.

A Systematic Search Of The Database Psycinfo
Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this research repository is considered the leading scholarly
file of research in the social and behavioral sciences worldwide. Table 1 presents the volume of reference citations regarding drawing tests indexed in
PsycINFO. This output illustrates that 73% of all references have appeared since 1989 (614 of 840 citations) based on Total output; for journal
references (69%), for books (88%), for dissertations (89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the volume of research on drawing
techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past decade. Table 2 summarizes survey findings of both academic and applied settings on
training emphasis andusage of drawing techniques since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published studies that were identified in journal
publications, based on clinician/practitioner and academic/trainingsamples, although the vast majority of the data–pool is based on research conducted
in the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey results are almost always based only on those respondents who use tests or based
on official clinical records;hence, many studies report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage of non–responders. Thus, in
the aggregate, individual tests may be 'popular', but only within the parameters of professionals who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual
test's ranking is

Database A database is an organised body of related files and or information. It is simply an automated library system an is maintained as an integral
part of most organisations worldwide. A cite on the World Wide Web, the Webopedia Computer Dictionary, refers to the
database as a collection of
information organized and presented to serve a specific purpose. (A telephone book is a common database.) A computerized database is an updated,
organized file of machine readable information that is rapidly searched and retrieved by computer.
A Data Base Management System is a collection of programs that...show more content...
Sophisticated languages for managing database systems are called fourth–generation languages, or 4GLs for short.
The information from a database can be presented in a variety of formats. Most DBMSs include a report writer program that enables you to output data
in the form of a report. Many DBMSs also include a graphics component that enables you to output information in the form of graphs and charts.
Migrating from the manual and paper file set up is always an advantage in its own capacity. We shall highlight the major advantages of using a
database or Data Base Management System in an organisation. Using a database will reduce both data redundancy and inconsistency. For larger or
even smaller organisations like a small time starting estate agency, a database will promote sharing of data for example when referring to client files.
Their rent or sales teams can share the information in order to be able to assist their clients better. Standards are enforced, through the use of the data
dictionary or catalogue. Another advantage is that privacy and integrity controls are applicable to groups of users such as passwords and access
controls for security. In–terms of privacy, a selection of authourised users can use the database and with reference to integrity, the database

violated by each operation, if any, and the different ways of enforcing these constraints.
e. Insert into DEPENDENT.
Answer: This operation is accepted and it can be successfully inserted.
g. Delete the EMPLOYEE tuple with Ssn = '987654321'.
Answer: This operation can't be used. Because Ssn has been used as a foreign key of WORKS_ON, EMPLOYEE and DEPARTMENT relations ad
deleting records with Ssn = '987654321' will leave no corresponding entry for record in WORKS_ON relation. If we want to delete this data than we
need to delete it from all the tables.
h. Delete the PROJECT tuple with Pname = 'ProductX'.
Answer: This operation can't be used. Because Pnumber has been used as a foreign key of WORKS_ON relation and deleting record with Pname =
'ProductX' will also delete product with Pnumber = '1'. Since this value has been used in WORKS_ON table so deleting this record will violate
referring integrity constraint. If we want to delete this data than we also have to delete data from corresponding tables.
i. Modify the Mgr_ssn and Mgr_start_date of the DEPARTMENT tuple with Dnumber = 5 to '123456789' and '2007–10–01', respectively.

Databases in My Organization
Abstract
Databases have been in use since the early days of computing programs. An Information Technology services company, such as Getronics, not only
utilizes databases for information and record management, it earns revenue by providing database management services. Getronics uses Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 as its database software. The clients that contract Getronics for Information Technology services rely and depend on the accuracy and
currency of the database information that is stored. Databases will continue to exist and expand as more companies become more of aware of the
importance of record and data management.

An incident management system tracks end user requests, problems, and changes that are recorded by a service desk, or help desk team. The
application relies on over 300 tables that contain individual pieces of information the build an end user's request. Each table is linked by a common,
unique identifier, commonly known as primary key. This unique identifier exists in all tables and links the records together. However, even though the
backend application is complex, to a help desk technician, the information is presented in the incident management system in an organized, presentable
manner. The help desk technician does not have to search the 300 or more tables to locate a specific piece of information.
Another database that is used by Getronics is the human resources database that is linked to the SAP application. This database contains all of
Getronics' employee information including such private details like social security number and mother's maiden name. This database is secured
database that can not be accessed by any employee. In fact, not even the database administrator can see the text that is stored in the records for the
employees. The data is encrypted. Since Human Resource databases typically contain financial and personnel information, it is important that the data
is secured. The encryption provides security for the private and confidential

Prior to searching the ProQuest database one must take some things into consideration in order to get the best retrievals possible for your
informational needs. While searching on most databases patrons are allowed to use subject and keyword searches. "Natural language is the language
people speak and write" (Chu 53). It is language that individuals use on a daily basis as opposed to programmed language. It is more common for
individuals to use search terms of a natural language to search for items within the database. Chu states, that "Natural language allows the highest
degree of specificity and flexibility in representing and retrieving information" (17).
When conducting any type of search ProQuest looks for what you enter in the search box and will search for any available abstract or full text or
all documents in all selected databases. Whatever search term you type in even if spelled incorrectly you may ask yourself if the database will be
able to still accurately interpret the intended search term and conduct an effective search if one or more of the search terms are spelled incorrectly? A
test was conducted using the search term Mozart due to it being a common term that the database would be able to detect. When conducting the basic
search of the correct spelling of the word Mozart in the search box ProQuest...show more content...
In several cases, even when using terms that are very close to the actual search term, little to no search results were produced. ProQuest does provide
suggestions to help improve your search giving users related search terms to help find what you are looking for as you enter the search term in the

Results of the analysis were similar to other research findings in other studies in different settings and although measures can be developed for
different levels of employees, the psychological contract is different to each employee in relation to how the employee perceives his job and develops
his own psychological contract (Cable, 2010). Limitations that could be identified in the study were the small sample size that included only
managers, was conducted only in New Zealand and therefore may not be able to be generalized to other countries (Cable, 2010). Results and
discussion suggests that future research could expand the understanding on how the fulfillment of the psychological contract could impact an
individual employee's attitudes and behaviors (Cable, 2010). After a search in ProQuest the article Transformational Leadership and Public Service
Motivation: Driving Individual and Organizational Performance, was selected for review to determine if the content is relevant to research topic. An
empirical research method in which the authors reviewed a vast amount of past research was used to explore ways in which managers can use positive

MIN HE. A survey on NoSQL database and relational database. (Under the direction of DR. JIANPING FAN)
NoSQL database, also called as not only SQL database, is using a different data storage and retrieval mechanism from the relational tables adopted by
traditional relational database management system. In the sense of CAP (Consistency, availability and tolerance) theorem, NoSQL database sacrifices
some consistency features to get more availabilities and partition tolerances. In most cases, NoSQL database systems are distributed and parallel,
although the RDBMS is still dominating the database market, the NoSQL databases are becoming more and more popular and in a tendency of catching
up, especially in the domains of SNS and major Internet companies, which requires large–scale data storage for massively–parallel data processing
across a large number of commodity servers. The purpose of this report is to understand main characteristics of the NoSQL database and compare the
strengths and weaknesses of NoSQL databases over the RDBMS. NoSQL database has witnessed rapid development since it was first used by Carlo
Strozzi in 1998. Various systems were implemented by using different approaches: column, document, key–value, graph, etc. In this report, I will also
present the main features of those different models and compare their advantages and disadvantages. Introduction Not only the development of Big

The library databases include JSTOR, ProQuest and EBSCOhost Databases. These databases require the user to create a personal account. With these
three databases once the users personal account is verified, they will receive an automated email confirming the account and provide immediate
access. The benefit of securing a personal account with these databases consist of the ability to organize resources, to retrieve the search history, and
establish numerous alerts (Personal Database Accounts, 2015). However, the disadvantages to having a personal account with these databases, is that
the user must login each session, if they want to access or save articles, and ProQuest requires the user to log in every 76 days, if not the account will
become inactive after 90 days (Personal Database Accounts, 2015). Citation management tools A citation manager aids you in keeping track of articles
and books as you identify them, annotate and tag them, and easily create bibliographies and citations using Microsoft Word. Any citation manager can
be used and will be most efficient for many scholars than not using one at all. Each manager has its own plug–in for Microsoft Word and some also

Different Types of Databases Essay
There are many different types of databases, different performances of databases, and different database software functions. Before we get to
much into databases lets take a step back and think about what a database really is and how they are applied. A database is a software program
arranged to collect hold and process information. There are quite a bit of software programs out there already that can allow you to do all this.
However, what makes databases different is that once you enter information in to, the database will operate the information in ways that allow you to
analyze the information. Databases are designed in such a way that as to make it easier to obtain particular pieces of data. Databases are used in many
ways existing in...show more content...
Whether we want to accept it not humans rely on databases they could even be called somewhat of a structure for us. In fact databases play such a
large role in day to day life that just asking the question " what would life be like without databases?" could even be the same as asking "what if
computers never existed?". Finally, we move to the last point. People as a whole are always interacting with databases. If you have ever gone to a
library and could not find the book or the movie you were looking for, you turn to the computer. When you do this and you look up what you want,
you are accessing the libraries database, the entire collection of everything and anything that the library has on site and even whats not there. The
next example of how people interact with databases is through scheduling flights. Since we live in a modern age where pretty much everything is
done online for the most part its pretty simple to understand this example. In this day and age whenever someone needs to schedule a flight they
just go online to the airlines website and look at the available flights to the destination that they would like go. When doing this, you are actually
accessing a database of the airlines available flights for that destination. The last example on how people interact with databases is through online
shopping. In fact just last week I, myself was looking for a part for my car engine that could only be ordered online. So when I went to the website I

Currently a school uses a non–computerised database system to store the following information about its students: roll class, surname, first name,
guardian 's name, address, student 's date of birth, gender, sport house, emergency–contact telephone number, mailing name, list of subjects offered, and
subjects in which the student is enrolled. The system takes up a large amount of space, has many duplicated entries some of these with mistakes and it
is time consuming to search. The school intends to introduce a relational–database management system to overcome these problems.

The system is made up of two parts, the database management system and the database. A database management system (DBMS) is "the software that
builds, maintains and provides access to a database. It also provides data dictionary facilities, file protection and security against unauthorised use".
Relational database management systems include software packages such as Microsoft Access. These packages provide the frame work to allow the
tables to be developed and linked.
A database is defined as "an organised collection of data items which may be accessed by a database management system. The database may consist of
several linked files". The school database will consist of a number of tables that hold information on students and related material.
The information to be stored on students; roll class, surname, first name, guardian 's name, address, student 's date of birth, gender, sport house,
emergency–contact telephone number, mailing name, list of subjects offered, and subjects in which the student is enrolled will be held in the following

Scholarly Database Analysis: Key Features and Advantages in 40 Characters

  • 1. Scholarly Database Analysis Scholarly databases are full– text collections of articles from the newspaper, journals, and electronic reference sources. They are intended for people who have a knowledge of the topic and are using it for informative purposes. The articles are usually written by scholars or researchers and always have references, credentialing and also most of the times a DOI number. The DOI number is a " Digital Object identifier" which is a standard unique number given to a specific article more like an ID number. One of the many advantages of a scholarly database is that it's usually non–profit and are peer reviewed and which can further guide one's search. These databases are checked for accuracy by the publishers and before these get published, go through...show more content... The information available on these websites may or may not be written by a scholar or one having knowledge of the topic. This information can be biased and can be influenced by advertisements or the owner of the website. In today's world anyone can create a website for less than a hundred dollars. Also, content reliability and credibility are also big points to question. The qualifications and contact information can be difficult to trace. There are no website policies that the websites have to adhere to get started. Although there is one organization that regulates and acts as a " watchdog". It's the Health on the net foundation – HON with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The seal of approval is free for display but is based on eight criteria which should be passed by the website – authoritative, privacy, complementary, attribution, justifiability, transparency, financial disclosure and advertising policy. The HON looks at the credentials of the scholars, writing information, citations with dates, sources of publication, financial disclosure, and advertisements. Ease of accessing the website and the performance based on the content and illustrations and also updates made on the websites and if it's keeping up with the growing medical information and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Several databases were used for this review. Sources primarily came from EBSCO, which included Academic Search Complete, Education Full Text, OmniFile Full Text Mega, General Science Full Text, EBSCO Professional Development Collection, and Social Sciences Full–Text databases. In addition, the EBSCO eBook Collection and the EBSCO ebrary collection for full–text books were utilized. Other databases used for this review include Google Scholar and ERIC. The search was narrowed by limiting sources to academic journals and books. Where possible, only peer–reviewed sources were used. Some keyword descriptors did not produce results within the peer–review parameters. The keywords searched included individual searches or pairings of the following words: augmentative and alternative communication systems, severe/multiple disabilities, severe communication impairments, pre–service special education teachers, communication disorders, competencies, knowledge and skills, special education, AAC,. Limitations of the search results. While sources for this review were obtained from academic and scholarly sites, the number of peer–reviewed sources was limited. To maximize academic integrity of the source material, all sources were taken from academic journals or from books published by qualified experts in the field. In addition, while the research questions focused on instructional preparation of special education teachers using AAC, few sources on the combined delimiters were available. • 3. A Systematic Search Of The Database Psycinfo Investigatory Design A systematic search of the database PsycINFO was conducted, as this research repository is considered the leading scholarly file of research in the social and behavioral sciences worldwide. Table 1 presents the volume of reference citations regarding drawing tests indexed in PsycINFO. This output illustrates that 73% of all references have appeared since 1989 (614 of 840 citations) based on Total output; for journal references (69%), for books (88%), for dissertations (89%). Based on this analysis there has been no decline on the volume of research on drawing techniques evident in journal publications or books over the past decade. Table 2 summarizes survey findings of both academic and applied settings on training emphasis andusage of drawing techniques since 1989. This analysis includes the 60 published studies that were identified in journal publications, based on clinician/practitioner and academic/trainingsamples, although the vast majority of the data–pool is based on research conducted in the USA. Findings Of note, 2 caveats are in order: First, survey results are almost always based only on those respondents who use tests or based on official clinical records;hence, many studies report data on less than 50% of sample surveyed due to a high percentage of non–responders. Thus, in the aggregate, individual tests may be 'popular', but only within the parameters of professionals who rely on tests in assessment. Second, an individual test's ranking is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Essay Database Database A database is an organised body of related files and or information. It is simply an automated library system an is maintained as an integral part of most organisations worldwide. A cite on the World Wide Web, the Webopedia Computer Dictionary, refers to the database as a collection of information organized and presented to serve a specific purpose. (A telephone book is a common database.) A computerized database is an updated, organized file of machine readable information that is rapidly searched and retrieved by computer. A Data Base Management System is a collection of programs that...show more content... Sophisticated languages for managing database systems are called fourth–generation languages, or 4GLs for short. The information from a database can be presented in a variety of formats. Most DBMSs include a report writer program that enables you to output data in the form of a report. Many DBMSs also include a graphics component that enables you to output information in the form of graphs and charts. Migrating from the manual and paper file set up is always an advantage in its own capacity. We shall highlight the major advantages of using a database or Data Base Management System in an organisation. Using a database will reduce both data redundancy and inconsistency. For larger or even smaller organisations like a small time starting estate agency, a database will promote sharing of data for example when referring to client files. Their rent or sales teams can share the information in order to be able to assist their clients better. Standards are enforced, through the use of the data dictionary or catalogue. Another advantage is that privacy and integrity controls are applicable to groups of users such as passwords and access controls for security. In–terms of privacy, a selection of authourised users can use the database and with reference to integrity, the database Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Annotated Bibliography On Database Design CPSC 5340 Database Design Homework 3 Rikky Patel 9–27–2015 Part: 1 3.11. Suppose that each of the following Update operations is applied directly to the database state shown in Figure 3.6. Discuss all integrity constraints violated by each operation, if any, and the different ways of enforcing these constraints. e. Insert into DEPENDENT. Answer: This operation is accepted and it can be successfully inserted. g. Delete the EMPLOYEE tuple with Ssn = '987654321'. Answer: This operation can't be used. Because Ssn has been used as a foreign key of WORKS_ON, EMPLOYEE and DEPARTMENT relations ad deleting records with Ssn = '987654321' will leave no corresponding entry for record in WORKS_ON relation. If we want to delete this data than we need to delete it from all the tables. h. Delete the PROJECT tuple with Pname = 'ProductX'. Answer: This operation can't be used. Because Pnumber has been used as a foreign key of WORKS_ON relation and deleting record with Pname = 'ProductX' will also delete product with Pnumber = '1'. Since this value has been used in WORKS_ON table so deleting this record will violate referring integrity constraint. If we want to delete this data than we also have to delete data from corresponding tables. i. Modify the Mgr_ssn and Mgr_start_date of the DEPARTMENT tuple with Dnumber = 5 to '123456789' and '2007–10–01', respectively. Answer: This operation can be acceptable.

An Information Technology services company, such as Getronics, not only utilizes databases for information and record management, it earns revenue by providing database management services. Getronics uses Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as its database software. The clients that contract Getronics for Information Technology services rely and depend on the accuracy and currency of the database information that is stored. An incident management system tracks end user requests, problems, and changes that are recorded by a service desk, or help desk team. The application relies on over 300 tables that contain individual pieces of information the build an end user's request. Each table is linked by a common, unique identifier, commonly known as primary key. This unique identifier exists in all tables and links the records together. However, even though the backend application is complex, to a help desk technician, the information is presented in the incident management system in an organized, presentable manner. The help desk technician does not have to search the 300 or more tables to locate a specific piece of information. Another database that is used by Getronics is the human resources database that is linked to the SAP application. This database contains all of Getronics' employee information including such private details like social security number and mother's maiden name. This database is secured database that can not be accessed by any employee. In fact, not even the database administrator can see the text that is stored in the records for the employees. The data is encrypted. Since Human Resource databases typically contain financial and personnel information, it is important that the data is secured. • 12. Database Request Database Analysis Prior to searching the ProQuest database one must take some things into consideration in order to get the best retrievals possible for your informational needs. While searching on most databases patrons are allowed to use subject and keyword searches. "Natural language is the language people speak and write" (Chu 53). It is language that individuals use on a daily basis as opposed to programmed language. It is more common for individuals to use search terms of a natural language to search for items within the database. Chu states, that "Natural language allows the highest degree of specificity and flexibility in representing and retrieving information" (17). When conducting any type of search ProQuest looks for what you enter in the search box and will search for any available abstract or full text or all documents in all selected databases. Whatever search term you type in even if spelled incorrectly you may ask yourself if the database will be able to still accurately interpret the intended search term and conduct an effective search if one or more of the search terms are spelled incorrectly? Results of the analysis were similar to other research findings in other studies in different settings and although measures can be developed for different levels of employees, the psychological contract is different to each employee in relation to how the employee perceives his job and develops his own psychological contract (Cable, 2010). Limitations that could be identified in the study were the small sample size that included only managers, was conducted only in New Zealand and therefore may not be able to be generalized to other countries (Cable, 2010). Results and discussion suggests that future research could expand the understanding on how the fulfillment of the psychological contract could impact an individual employee's attitudes and behaviors (Cable, 2010). After a search in ProQuest the article Transformational Leadership and Public Service Motivation: Driving Individual and Organizational Performance, was selected for review to determine if the content is relevant to research topic. An empirical research method in which the authors reviewed a vast amount of past research was used to explore ways in which managers can use positive motivation to improve public service employee and organizational performance as well as give recommendations to assist managers to implement motivational values in a variety of management settings (Paarlberg, L., Lavigna, B., Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. ABSTRACT MIN HE. A survey on NoSQL database and relational database. (Under the direction of DR. JIANPING FAN) NoSQL database, also called as not only SQL database, is using a different data storage and retrieval mechanism from the relational tables adopted by traditional relational database management system. In the sense of CAP (Consistency, availability and tolerance) theorem, NoSQL database sacrifices some consistency features to get more availabilities and partition tolerances. In most cases, NoSQL database systems are distributed and parallel, although the RDBMS is still dominating the database market, the NoSQL databases are becoming more and more popular and in a tendency of catching up, especially in the domains of SNS and major Internet companies, which requires large–scale data storage for massively–parallel data processing across a large number of commodity servers. The purpose of this report is to understand main characteristics of the NoSQL database and compare the strengths and weaknesses of NoSQL databases over the RDBMS. NoSQL database has witnessed rapid development since it was first used by Carlo Strozzi in 1998. Various systems were implemented by using different approaches: column, document, key–value, graph, etc. In this report, I will also present the main features of those different models and compare their advantages and disadvantages. Introduction Not only the development of Big Data brings big opportunities, but it also brings big Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Assignment 1: Library Database Analysis The library databases include JSTOR, ProQuest and EBSCOhost Databases. These databases require the user to create a personal account. With these three databases once the users personal account is verified, they will receive an automated email confirming the account and provide immediate access. The benefit of securing a personal account with these databases consist of the ability to organize resources, to retrieve the search history, and establish numerous alerts (Personal Database Accounts, 2015). However, the disadvantages to having a personal account with these databases, is that the user must login each session, if they want to access or save articles, and ProQuest requires the user to log in every 76 days, if not the account will become inactive after 90 days (Personal Database Accounts, 2015). Citation management tools A citation manager aids you in keeping track of articles and books as you identify them, annotate and tag them, and easily create bibliographies and citations using Microsoft Word. Any citation manager can be used and will be most efficient for many scholars than not using one at all. Each manager has its own plug–in for Microsoft Word and some also have browser plug–ins for easy capture of web links. Each manager similarly has fixed connections to Google Scholar...show more content... I started to work as a caregiver and I have to have many fields for many occasions, for example I need to do a table for her food and have breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner as her fields to identify what she will be her choices in having that day. Then I will have another table for her medicine that she needs to drink at a certain time. Clearly, I have used relational database daily. I also use relational database for my personal life like my data for contacts, music, and pictures, all these data have their own table set up, for example, my music, I have all the music organized by there genres, I have about 2 I only have rap music and Spanish music and when i downloaded Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Different Types of Databases Essay There are many different types of databases, different performances of databases, and different database software functions. Before we get to much into databases lets take a step back and think about what a database really is and how they are applied. A database is a software program arranged to collect hold and process information. There are quite a bit of software programs out there already that can allow you to do all this. However, what makes databases different is that once you enter information in to, the database will operate the information in ways that allow you to analyze the information. Databases are designed in such a way that as to make it easier to obtain particular pieces of data. Databases are used in many ways existing in...show more content... Whether we want to accept it not humans rely on databases they could even be called somewhat of a structure for us. In fact databases play such a large role in day to day life that just asking the question " what would life be like without databases?" could even be the same as asking "what if computers never existed?". Finally, we move to the last point. People as a whole are always interacting with databases. If you have ever gone to a library and could not find the book or the movie you were looking for, you turn to the computer. When you do this and you look up what you want, you are accessing the libraries database, the entire collection of everything and anything that the library has on site and even whats not there. The next example of how people interact with databases is through scheduling flights. Since we live in a modern age where pretty much everything is done online for the most part its pretty simple to understand this example. In this day and age whenever someone needs to schedule a flight they just go online to the airlines website and look at the available flights to the destination that they would like go. When doing this, you are actually accessing a database of the airlines available flights for that destination. The last example on how people interact with databases is through online shopping. In fact just last week I, myself was looking for a part for my car engine that could only be ordered online. So when I went to the website I saw an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Database Design Database Design Scenario Currently a school uses a non–computerised database system to store the following information about its students: roll class, surname, first name, guardian 's name, address, student 's date of birth, gender, sport house, emergency–contact telephone number, mailing name, list of subjects offered, and subjects in which the student is enrolled. The system takes up a large amount of space, has many duplicated entries some of these with mistakes and it is time consuming to search. The school intends to introduce a relational–database management system to overcome these problems. The system is made up of two parts, the database management system and the database. A database management system (DBMS) is "the software that builds, maintains and provides access to a database. It also provides data dictionary facilities, file protection and security against unauthorised use". Relational database management systems include software packages such as Microsoft Access. These packages provide the frame work to allow the tables to be developed and linked. A database is defined as "an organised collection of data items which may be accessed by a database management system. The database may consist of several linked files". The school database will consist of a number of tables that hold information on students and related material. The information to be stored on students; roll class, surname, first name, guardian 's name, address, student 's date of birth, gender, sport house, emergency–contact telephone number, mailing name, list of subjects offered, and subjects in which the student is enrolled will be held in the following tables: В„h roll class В„h sports house В„h students
