I have been employed at Digital Africa, Hartbeespoort during 2008-09, as a Freelance Graphic
designer during college breaks and weekends, creating layouts and editing of layouts.
Reason for Leaving: Closed down and would have looked for new opportunities.
After closing down, I became involved with design and layout of a school newspaper called
Nuusdraer, covering North West and Pretoria North School News. I did marketing, design, layout,
editing, complete Artwork for publishing deadlines. I was directly involved with the clients to
understand their needs for completing the design and layout process.
Reason for Leaving: Moved to Gerrardsville and no other transport means.
Having to move closer to Centurion, I started at Kyama Print as a Junior Graphic Designer in the
Printing Field. I did design & Layout of logo's, business cards, flyers posters, banners, brochures,
correx and chromadek boards and more.
Reason for Leaving: New job found with higher expectations in experience.
Found a job in Pretoria Moot Area at Nation Overalls Printers for better salary and gained further
experience in the 2-years that I worked there. I was Responsible for the whole process of design
and sales running my own branch and worked between 2 if required. Learned new programs and
machines for branding of corporate clothing. Also gained substantial experience in retail of
clothing and safety gear. I obtained more practical experience on signage application of vehicles,
heat press and printing on shirts and other products. Administration of payments, production
planning, and reaching deadlines was practiced on a regular basis.
Reason for Leaving: Needed to grow in the corporate environment and needed better salary.
I was offered employment at Minuteman Press for a better salary and have been exposed to a
more corporate environment, with a more fast paced & disciplined practice. I have gained
extensive skills and experience over the last year in the design and production process. Being
employed at this company taught me the importance of fast paced deadline management and
professionalism. Speedy delivery and functional correctness is an important factor, and
Minuteman Press is a well-known international franchise of world class status, witch requires
good communication skills and CI quality end products. Unfortunately my contract period ended
after a year ended in April 2014, and since then I've been freelancing with my company name
Imagitall for legal reasons.
Reason for Leaving: Contract expired and wanted to try success on my own.
Found an employment opportunity at Zeroplus Drukkers / Printers. Learning more in the design
and prepress sector for all print media and all file type preparation for final output. Learning in
file preparations conversion of mostly Corel, Adobe, open files such as word to PDF for final print
in Digital, Wide Format Printing and Litho. Through Zeroplus I have noticed a system of higher
professionalism and ethics. There will always be more to learn and having achievement of
success.
Reason for Leaving: Offer to work with family in construction
Conclusion
From collage to the working arena as a designer and some management roles throughout my experience and skills
development through the years, I have learned a lot, always wanting to improve my skills and make the companies
better, working in teams, understanding different client and co-workers outsourcing and printing partners. I believe I
can take on most if not all tasks of any company to a higher improvement, and create a successful invironment.
