14. What is Radio Club?
• We're going to be here until the end of April to teach you how to
make a radio show
• You'll come to the University of Lincoln to broadcast live a 30
minute show on Siren Radio (end of April)
• You'll come to the University for a Taster Day before this, where
we'll teach you how to use the radio studios
15. Your Radio Show
• For your radio show you'll need to take on different roles:
• Presenter
• Broadcast Assistant
• Interviewer
• Editor
• Script writer
16. Presenter
• This is the person you hear on the radio
• If you like to chat, this is the role for you!
• In your groups you'll need to pick a topic that you want your
show to be about
17. Broadcast Assistant
• This is the person who sits at the sound desk
• You'll pick songs to play and make sure the mics are live and
everything is running smoothly
18. Interviewer
• This person is in charge of recording the interviews before the
show
• You'll interview someone and then this will be edited and put
into a 'package' for the broadcast assistant to play live
• A package is the name given to a group of jingles, interviews
and vox pops that are recorded before the show
19. Editor
• The editor will edit the interviews together, as well as vox pops
and jingles.
• Vox Pops are short snappy interviews with lots of people
• Jingles are little sound clips that have music, or introduce the
show

20. Script Writer
• This is the person who writes the show
• You'll decide who says what in the show
• You'll also decide when things in the show take place – when
interviews, jingles, songs and vox pops are played
22. PRESENTER A person who introduces and
appears in a television or radio
programme giving information
BROADCAST
ASSISTANT (BA)
This person works with producers
and presenters, helping them to
research, deliver, present and
produce radio programmes
JINGLE This is a short song or tune used
throughout to brand your show
VOX POP A collection of opinions from
members of the public about a
certain subject (normally
interviews)
