An Air Operations Control Officer coordinates air traffic to and from military airfields, controls various military aircraft on missions at home and abroad, and works alongside civilian air traffic controllers. They provide air traffic control services at airfields and direct fast jet aircraft to intercept potentially hostile targets. Training involves specialist courses, with initial tours lasting 2-3 years at RAF airfields in the UK, Cyprus, or the Air Traffic Control Centre in Swanwick. The role requires UK citizenship and residency for at least 5 years, as well as being between 17.5-47 years old. Starting pay after training is £31,800 plus benefits.
