1. How to Install Heat Shrink Accessories?

Heat shrink accessories are one of those key elements. They are used for
jointing power cables. The specially formulated thermoplastic polymer
materials used by COMPAQ can shrink and conform with precision to
different shapes. They have the capacity to sustain in the harshest of
weather conditions. Also, they are resistant to chemicals. However, there
are certain norms that need to be followed while installing heat shrink
accessories. These are:

3. • The accessories with long length should be heated starting from the middle,
moving towards the edges of the product. Heat shrinkage should be done
gradually in order to ensure uniform shrinkage along the entire length.
• It is vital to note that heat shrink accessories will shrink when heated, not
only in diameter, but also in length (usually up to 15% along the entire
length). However, in case if you have already bought some heat shrink
accessories and are not sure about the margin in length, you should not heat
the accessories from the middle. Rather, start heating from the ends of the
product. In this way, you will minimize the shrinkage along the length.

4. • If you plan on installing heat shrink accessories to a metal surface, it
is crucial to warm up the surface first (for thick-walled heat
shrinks). This is done in order to avoid the appearance of "cold scars"
and condensation. Also, when processing the surface, degreasing and
cleaning it is advisable.
• Do not forcefully stretch the heat shrink to a greater length than
specified by the manufacturer. This leads to thinning of the walls of
the heat shrink which worsens its technical performance and can lead
to unpredictable damage during operation.

5. After the completion of the installation work, complying with
all the norms, you should ensure that the fattened heat shrink
perfectly repeats the relief of the object inside without any
extra tubercles. While using heat shrink with an adhesive layer,
there should be traces of melted glue along the edges of the
shrunk accessory.
