I asked a few RAs to put texting on an importance scale of 1-10 and to add
reasoning as well.

Emily Metzler (May Hall RA) - I'd say it is about an 8. Because it is helpful to contact one another on staff
with questions that can kind of be answered on their own time. With all of the busy schedules it is the easiest way to
communicate. It is easier than call and leaving a message. It is also easy to send an all staff text if there is something to
tell/ask all of us.

Corissa Revels (May Hall RA) - I believe that texting is a good idea because it is an easier way to get in
touch with people. I did not get texting until I was a sophomore at college and I was always out of the loop. Calling was
an inconvenience for my friends. Texting does not disturb people like calling does. Since you cannot call your friends
while at the desk, it is nice to have texting to be able to communicate to your friends and family. For being an RA, texting
helps incase you have a question to ask a person and you do not know where they are, or you want to switch duty. It is a
quicker way to get a response

Max Dalton (Hathorn RA) - I would give it a 7/8 depending on the day. I know for our staff a huge way we
communicate is through txting. If there is something important that our HM needs to let us know, he will send out a txt to
everyone on staff. Its just a really convenient way for us to all keep in touch about inportant stuff when a computer and
email isnt available. For general everyday stuff I dont use it a a lot in terms of the RA position but it comes in really
25. Thwarting These Reasons
Fact: I have never dialed my phone while driving (always
when I’m stopped). So why would I even try texting? I like
driving too much to lose my license and/or die
