Interview with a Bilingual
INTRODUCTION
This report presents an interview with a bilingual called H.D . H.D. is a daughter of a Turkish immigrant family who lived in Australia for 12 years
.H.D. gives examples from her personal life about how she became bilingual background , the challenges of second language acquisition , benefits and
the role of languages in her life.
H.D was asked the following questions : (a) Could you please explain how you became bilingual? (b) Could you describe the bilingual environment
you grew up in? (c) Which language do you feel more confident in speaking? And why? (d) How did you develop your reading and writing skills in
both languages and what kind of challenges did you face during the learning process? (e) How did you feel as...show more content...
H.D.'s answer was interesting:
"I think I just picked up both languages simultaneously and it was always pretty natural for me to speak two languages. I don't remember getting
confused however my parents sometimes did some tricks ,like pretending not to understand English , which forced me to use Turkish. We were
regularly in contact with other Turkish families living in Melbourne . I also attended Turkish classes on the weekends for a couple of years. These
usually strengthened my abilities in Turkish language, and also my familiarization in Turkish culture and values."
This situation also supports the statement of Lyon(1996) that children become bilingual across the world in many communities and this can play a
major part in the families into which they are born, and in their later lives at school. Bilingualism occurs within complex, multi–layered context, but
from the child's point of view the family is where it all begins.
H.D adds: " I learned to read and write in English first, mainly at school, but later I attended Saturday school for Turkish lessons. This did cause a
little confusion for me at first when I started to read and write in Turkish because it is spelt very phonetically. It has extra alphabetic letters such " Г§,
Дџ , Д±, Г¶, Еџ , Гј" and does not have "w" and "x" sounds. I also couldn't understand why the verbs were at the end of the sentence instead of in the
middle like in English. This problem was solved with my

Essay about Higher Education
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals.
Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one's
abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher
education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory
that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal...show more

However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their degree so they can start their careers.
I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve the experience of education. It usually takes about
four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get to
start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing
general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law of
students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of
taking the extra courses, students can simply meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to take
general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have
numerous opportunities for a better career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job.
Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time learning when they relate to the

Introduction to Psychology Essay examples
Introduction to Psychology The concern about life is a main human characteristic. No matter if his concern is concentrated in himself or in persons or
things that surround him and constitute his environment, everybody wants to know why people, himself included, behave the way they behave.
Everybody, also, wants to improve his behavior, so as to live in harmony with himself and the society. The Greek word Psychology, is a word consisted
of the words ψυχή–soul and λόγος–utterance, talk. So, generally, psychology is the science
that examines the soul. But , since the psychologists work on the problems of the personal, family, school, professional and social life, we could say,

The heartbeats, the movements of our head are behavior. The way we eat, the way we drink, the way we walk, we talk, are behavior. The
construction of a bridge, the composition of a song are behavior. The fantasies of a child, the dreams of a adolescent, the illusions of an alcoholic
are behavior. Although we are all familiar with human behavior, a little do we understand or we can explain about it. Since our infancy we learn
about behavior through the experiences and the knowledge that we get by observing other people or having relations with them. Living in society
leads us to watch and try to explain the way people behave. But that is not always easy. Sometimes we cannot understand even ourselves. Psychology
comes to give answers to all this uncertainty. Therefore, according to modern psychology, the term behavior means all the conscious, unconscious,
verbal, mental and kinetic expressions of ourselves. Psychology uses statistic researches so as to distinguish the normal behavior from the abnormal
one. Such a thing is very difficult because every society has its own behavior standards, and, consequently, an act that is normal according to one
society, may be abnormal according to another. For example, polygamy is not permitted in Europe, but it is permitted in certain societies in Africa. So,
the judgement of a behavior must bear in mind the social environment in which it takes place .

An Introduction to Globalization Essay
Globalization is a historical phenomenon that has been happening for decades now, and whether it generates growth or not is a matter of whose point
of view it is. The western countries, especially America and some European nations, are the ones taking full advantage of the benefits of globalization.
On the other hand, some experts say that globalization is not doing much for the developing countries, or that it may be even worsening their scenarios
of poverty and social inequality. But, I will get back to that later . The point is that globalization, while it was primarily triggered by the emergence of a
global market and facilitated by the democratization of communication technologies, also caused cultural, social and even political...show more

We are in the era of free information flow and democratization of communication tools. Through the Internet, people are able to produce content and
distribute it in many different ways to infinite different people. What is really amazing is that the idea of distance lost its significance. Now, you are
able to communicate from your house in the south of Brazil with friends who live in India, America or any other place in the world. Messages are
overcoming huge distances because of technological improvements and the implementation of global networks. The third movement is political.
Basically, it means that since globalization implies a compression of national boundaries, which were brought about by the increase of trade at the
global level, the importance of both the activity of international legal institutions and treats, like the World Trade Organization, and the dialogue
between political leaders of different nations has risen significantly. Also, in the globalized world we see a quite interesting phenomenon: the
importance given by nations' leaders to their self–image in the international political scene. Think this way: when countries were not dependent on the
businesses they had with other countries why would presidents bother to be admired by other national leaders? What we see now is a scenario where
nations' leaders struggle for status among the international political elite. The last set

Essay about Suicide
Someone, somewhere, commits suicide every 18 minutes. You might never be able to tell who it will be, it could be the person sitting right next .
Statistics reveal that approximately three million youths, between 12–18, have either thought about or attempted suicide in the past year. More than 1
/3, actually succeeded.
Only in the past two decades, have depression and suicide been taken seriously. Depression is an illness that involves the body, mood and thoughts.
Depression affects the way a person eats and sleeps, feels about themselves, and the way they think of the things around them. It comes as no surprise to
discover that adolescent depression is strongly linked to teen suicide. Adolescent suicide is now responsible for more deaths...show more content...
Adolescence is a stressful experience for all teens. It is a time of physical and social changes producing rapid mood swings from sadness to elation.
Even an emotionally healthy teenager may have the constant fear of not being good enough, not making the varsity team, or getting good grades.
Special situations such as a parents divorce can trigger intense sadness and feelings of wanting to die.
People who usually experience depression, can seem fine. But there are many key signs to show that they are depressed. Such as, change in school
performance, eating habits change, constant unhappiness, low self esteem, guilt, social isolation, inability to concentrate, irritable or angered easily, or
has a severe lost of energy.
For a teen suffering from severe depression, has feelings of worthlessness that dominates their day. Despair is ever present and emotional pain feels
like it will never end. Any situation of anger or disappointment may cause the teen to cross the line from wanting to die, to actually trying to kill
themselves.
Many of them feel pains inside of them, that they can't describe when someone asks them how they feel. They just know that they are sad, or angry, or
upset. Many teenagers will try to communicate their pains through

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that
tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities,
ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's
taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing,
attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life
off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects
of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a
dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some
are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong
family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational
experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Introduction to Communication
Introduction to communication Communication is the task of relaying information which involves exchange of ideas, messages, and information
through the use of speech, visuals, signals, writing or behaviour between two or more living creatures. Communication may be intentional or
unintentional, may involve conventional or unconventional signals, may take linguistic or non–linguistic forms, and may occur through spoken or
other modes(Wikipedia 2014).. The main aim of communicating is to get your information across it doesn't necessarily have to be understood.
Effective communication is the process through which a message is sent to an intended receiver and it is understood by him/her before sending back
the required response (Ask n.d). Effective communication happens when a desired effect is the result of intentional or unintentional information
being exchanged which is decoded by between multiple entities and acted on in a desired way (Wikipedia 2014).The ability to give desired feedback

thing starting from the sender's message down to the receiver's feedback. The communication process is made up of several process. These several

Introduction CafГ©, coffeehouse, and coffee shop are all terms for an establishment that primarily serves coffee and other hot beverages. As the name
suggests, a cafГ©/coffeehouse/ coffee shop focuses on providing coffee and tea in addition to light snacks. The original coffeehouse was first
established in Italy in 1645. Then, in 1652, the coffee–shop trend spread into England and further abroad (Pongsiri, 2013). The coffee shop has

A company (in this case, a coffee shop) needs to establish a clear and consistentbrand identity by communicating its brand attributes in a way that can
be easily understood by prospective customers. One of the firm's most valuable assets for improving marketing productivity is the
customers'pre–existing knowledge of the brand from the firm's investment in previous marketing programs (Keller, 1993). According to Keller (1993),
the differential effect of brand knowledge upon customers' response to brand marketing is known as brand equity. Brand equity is related to customer
satisfaction and brand loyalty (Nam, Ekinci, and Whyatt, 2011). Customer satisfaction is a mediating variable between brand equity and brand loyalty,
while brand loyalty itself is the biased (non–random) behavioral response (purchase) expressed over time by some decision–making unit with respect
to one or more particular brands out of a set of brands and is a function of psychological processes (Jacoby, 1971). Considering the importance of brand
equity in companies' efforts to develop positive customer perception and win the tight competition in their industry by achieving customer satisfaction
and loyalty, this study aims to investigate

What is Stress? Essay
Stress is something that affects many people each and every day. Life is full of hassles, deadlines, frustrations, and demands. For some people stress
is so common it is a way of life. Stress can be very harmful and or helpful. It could help motivate you to meet a deadline and perform a task under
pressure. Stress can also be very harmful, such as memory problems, moodiness, aches and pains, and eating more or less.
So what is stress? Stress is a normal physical response that happens when you feel threatened or upset. When you feel that you are in danger whether
it is real or imaged. Your body has a response when stress occurs and it is a way of actually protecting you. Many times, stress helps people stay more

People a little bit older after college could be stressed by trying to find a job or trying to find or support a family. Older people could be stressed if they

Stress is not only affected in the work place and at home, it is also affected during sports. There is a ton of pressure in many high school sports

My Teaching Philosophy Essay
My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and
teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college.
Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack
for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they
will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show

The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not
only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore
different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made
repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are
not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized
themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his
or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student
recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the
teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more

and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be

take.
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in
life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I
took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did
not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me
properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to
have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually

because I am maturing and I now view learning differently than I did

Essay about the human brain
In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most
complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has
main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate.
The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The
brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only

rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is

up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex
receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual
cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning
new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is
vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain.
If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing
how god has created the brain to have so many areas

Introspection Essay
The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated,
"Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to
take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we
didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned,
"Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind
over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations.

When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."

Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood
thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it
is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it
finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we
think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave

Business plays a major role within our society. It is a creative and competitive activity that continuously contributes to the shaping of our society. By

It is a way for individuals to provide goods and services to consumers, and at the same time, produce a profit for themselves. Businesses are not only

A businesses environment creates many opportunities as well as problems for prospering businesses. The environment determines what a business can

Interview With A Bilingual

  • 1. Interview with a Bilingual INTRODUCTION This report presents an interview with a bilingual called H.D . H.D. is a daughter of a Turkish immigrant family who lived in Australia for 12 years .H.D. gives examples from her personal life about how she became bilingual background , the challenges of second language acquisition , benefits and the role of languages in her life. H.D was asked the following questions : (a) Could you please explain how you became bilingual? (b) Could you describe the bilingual environment you grew up in? (c) Which language do you feel more confident in speaking? And why? (d) How did you develop your reading and writing skills in both languages and what kind of challenges did you face during the learning process? (e) How did you feel as...show more content... H.D.'s answer was interesting: "I think I just picked up both languages simultaneously and it was always pretty natural for me to speak two languages. I don't remember getting confused however my parents sometimes did some tricks ,like pretending not to understand English , which forced me to use Turkish. We were regularly in contact with other Turkish families living in Melbourne . I also attended Turkish classes on the weekends for a couple of years. These usually strengthened my abilities in Turkish language, and also my familiarization in Turkish culture and values." This situation also supports the statement of Lyon(1996) that children become bilingual across the world in many communities and this can play a major part in the families into which they are born, and in their later lives at school. Bilingualism occurs within complex, multi–layered context, but from the child's point of view the family is where it all begins. H.D adds: " I learned to read and write in English first, mainly at school, but later I attended Saturday school for Turkish lessons. This did cause a little confusion for me at first when I started to read and write in Turkish because it is spelt very phonetically. It has extra alphabetic letters such " Г§, Дџ , Д±, Г¶, Еџ , Гј" and does not have "w" and "x" sounds. I also couldn't understand why the verbs were at the end of the sentence instead of in the middle like in English. This problem was solved with my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay about Higher Education Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve his financial and/or personal goals. Teenagers who attend college use their extended schooling to further obtain knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to enhance one's abilities for his future. A student can learn from school in numerous ways, but liberal education is not a way to attract students into further and higher education. However, students can learn a lot more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory that education needs are reached to obtain a higher academic level by teaching students information that can be related to their personal...show more content... However, he has not thought about the students who want to attend college and quickly earn their degree so they can start their careers. I disagree with Bloom because he encourages the idea of taking extra irrelevant classes to achieve the experience of education. It usually takes about four years to earn a bachelors degree. There are many courses such as English, math, history, art, etc. that a student must go through before they get to start on the classes that concentrate on their intended major. These basic courses are part of a program called general education. After completing general education (which usually takes about two years), the students can then begin to study for their degree. Colleges should abandon the law of students having to take general education courses because the courses are irrelevant to their field of study, unnecessary and a waste of time. Instead of taking the extra courses, students can simply meet their needs of a degree in a shorter period of time. Also, Bloom not only that wants students to take general education courses, he wants them to further their education by taking advanced irrelevant courses. Therefore, in their future, they would have numerous opportunities for a better career. Because if a job is not right for the student, he would have other choices to obtain a new job. Rose feels students should not learn from the canon books style. Students have an easier time learning when they relate to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Introduction to Psychology Essay examples Introduction to Psychology The concern about life is a main human characteristic. No matter if his concern is concentrated in himself or in persons or things that surround him and constitute his environment, everybody wants to know why people, himself included, behave the way they behave. Everybody, also, wants to improve his behavior, so as to live in harmony with himself and the society. The Greek word Psychology, is a word consisted of the words ψυχή–soul and λόγος–utterance, talk. So, generally, psychology is the science that examines the soul. But , since the psychologists work on the problems of the personal, family, school, professional and social life, we could say, more...show more content... The heartbeats, the movements of our head are behavior. The way we eat, the way we drink, the way we walk, we talk, are behavior. The construction of a bridge, the composition of a song are behavior. The fantasies of a child, the dreams of a adolescent, the illusions of an alcoholic are behavior. Although we are all familiar with human behavior, a little do we understand or we can explain about it. Since our infancy we learn about behavior through the experiences and the knowledge that we get by observing other people or having relations with them. Living in society leads us to watch and try to explain the way people behave. But that is not always easy. Sometimes we cannot understand even ourselves. Psychology comes to give answers to all this uncertainty. Therefore, according to modern psychology, the term behavior means all the conscious, unconscious, verbal, mental and kinetic expressions of ourselves. Psychology uses statistic researches so as to distinguish the normal behavior from the abnormal one. Such a thing is very difficult because every society has its own behavior standards, and, consequently, an act that is normal according to one society, may be abnormal according to another. For example, polygamy is not permitted in Europe, but it is permitted in certain societies in Africa. So, the judgement of a behavior must bear in mind the social environment in which it takes place . Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. An Introduction to Globalization Essay Globalization is a historical phenomenon that has been happening for decades now, and whether it generates growth or not is a matter of whose point of view it is. The western countries, especially America and some European nations, are the ones taking full advantage of the benefits of globalization. On the other hand, some experts say that globalization is not doing much for the developing countries, or that it may be even worsening their scenarios of poverty and social inequality. But, I will get back to that later . The point is that globalization, while it was primarily triggered by the emergence of a global market and facilitated by the democratization of communication technologies, also caused cultural, social and even political...show more content... We are in the era of free information flow and democratization of communication tools. Through the Internet, people are able to produce content and distribute it in many different ways to infinite different people. What is really amazing is that the idea of distance lost its significance. Now, you are able to communicate from your house in the south of Brazil with friends who live in India, America or any other place in the world. Messages are overcoming huge distances because of technological improvements and the implementation of global networks. The third movement is political. Basically, it means that since globalization implies a compression of national boundaries, which were brought about by the increase of trade at the global level, the importance of both the activity of international legal institutions and treats, like the World Trade Organization, and the dialogue between political leaders of different nations has risen significantly. Also, in the globalized world we see a quite interesting phenomenon: the importance given by nations' leaders to their self–image in the international political scene. Think this way: when countries were not dependent on the businesses they had with other countries why would presidents bother to be admired by other national leaders? What we see now is a scenario where nations' leaders struggle for status among the international political elite. The last set Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay about Suicide Someone, somewhere, commits suicide every 18 minutes. You might never be able to tell who it will be, it could be the person sitting right next . Statistics reveal that approximately three million youths, between 12–18, have either thought about or attempted suicide in the past year. More than 1 /3, actually succeeded. Only in the past two decades, have depression and suicide been taken seriously. Depression is an illness that involves the body, mood and thoughts. Depression affects the way a person eats and sleeps, feels about themselves, and the way they think of the things around them. It comes as no surprise to discover that adolescent depression is strongly linked to teen suicide. Such as, change in school performance, eating habits change, constant unhappiness, low self esteem, guilt, social isolation, inability to concentrate, irritable or angered easily, or has a severe lost of energy. For a teen suffering from severe depression, has feelings of worthlessness that dominates their day. Despair is ever present and emotional pain feels like it will never end. Any situation of anger or disappointment may cause the teen to cross the line from wanting to die, to actually trying to kill themselves. Many of them feel pains inside of them, that they can't describe when someone asks them how they feel. They just know that they are sad, or angry, or upset. • 6. My Personal Identity Essay A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content... Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Introduction to Communication Introduction to communication Communication is the task of relaying information which involves exchange of ideas, messages, and information through the use of speech, visuals, signals, writing or behaviour between two or more living creatures. Communication may be intentional or unintentional, may involve conventional or unconventional signals, may take linguistic or non–linguistic forms, and may occur through spoken or other modes(Wikipedia 2014).. The main aim of communicating is to get your information across it doesn't necessarily have to be understood. Effective communication is the process through which a message is sent to an intended receiver and it is understood by him/her before sending back the required response (Ask n.d). Effective communication happens when a desired effect is the result of intentional or unintentional information being exchanged which is decoded by between multiple entities and acted on in a desired way (Wikipedia 2014).The ability to give desired feedback is the first important part of effective communication Communication process Communication happens in a loop in the sense that it is a continuous thing starting from the sender's message down to the receiver's feedback. I have learned many things throughout the course of the term, including such things as: how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, and the "Common Sense" textbook, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. I received a B on my final draft; the first passing grade I have ever received on a research paper. I am very satisfied with my grade. When it came to the essays writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. There are nine essay writing methods which I learned while attending this course: exemplification, compare/contrast, cause and effect, proposal, narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them. For my exemplification essay I chose to write about the reasons why condoms Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Introduction CafГ©, coffeehouse, and coffee shop are all terms for an establishment that primarily serves coffee and other hot beverages. As the name suggests, a cafГ©/coffeehouse/ coffee shop focuses on providing coffee and tea in addition to light snacks. The original coffeehouse was first established in Italy in 1645. Then, in 1652, the coffee–shop trend spread into England and further abroad (Pongsiri, 2013). The coffee shop has become a necessity and habit in modern society. It is frequented by a diverse crowd ranging from professionals and executives to adolescents. The coffee shop sells not only the items in its menu but also an atmosphere that makes people feel comfortable. In order to attract more visitors, a coffe shop may offer...show more content... A company (in this case, a coffee shop) needs to establish a clear and consistentbrand identity by communicating its brand attributes in a way that can be easily understood by prospective customers. One of the firm's most valuable assets for improving marketing productivity is the customers'pre–existing knowledge of the brand from the firm's investment in previous marketing programs (Keller, 1993). According to Keller (1993), the differential effect of brand knowledge upon customers' response to brand marketing is known as brand equity. Brand equity is related to customer satisfaction and brand loyalty (Nam, Ekinci, and Whyatt, 2011). Customer satisfaction is a mediating variable between brand equity and brand loyalty, while brand loyalty itself is the biased (non–random) behavioral response (purchase) expressed over time by some decision–making unit with respect to one or more particular brands out of a set of brands and is a function of psychological processes (Jacoby, 1971). Considering the importance of brand equity in companies' efforts to develop positive customer perception and win the tight competition in their industry by achieving customer satisfaction and loyalty, this study aims to investigate Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. My Teaching Philosophy Essay My Teaching Philosophy I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they've graduated from high school or college. Education isn't something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It's a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs. That being said, I also believe that a crucial part of education does...show more content... The roles of a teacher are so many and so varied that it is impossible to list them all, but one of the most important is preparing students to learn, not only in the classroom, but everywhere, and for the rest of their lives. Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves. Every child is different. That sounds like an obvious statement, but so many ineffective teachers seem to forget this. Each student has his or her own varying abilities, talents, and levels of competence, and it is the job of a teacher not only to recognize this, but to help each student recognize this as well. If a child isn't doing well in a particular subject, both the teacher and the student should work towards figuring out why, and the teacher should accept the challenge of finding a way to make a particular subject more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. What I Have Learned Essay What I Have Learned When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore. I feel that I have to get rid of bad habits in order to make room for better habits that I need for everyday life. I am learning better habits everyday. Even though I did bad on my first exam I feel that counted as learning for me because now I know what it takes for me to receive a high grade on any test I take. The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning differently than I did Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only ...show more content... The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. • 15. Introspection Essay The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated, "Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned, "Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations. I recently just lost a ring that was given to me a couple years ago. I was devastated and felt irresponsible. I have always wanted a Pandora Ring so this devastation led me to get one. I did a little research to figure which one I wanted on the Pandora website. • 16. Essay Growing Up When I Grow Up.. "Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." –Anonymous We all have the choice...show more content... We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.
