WPP Technical Project manager - FTSE 100 June 2015 – Sep 2015
Coretech is unique within the IT industry; their aim is to provide the best IT services to the
world’s leading marketing company WPP. As a brand new IT shared Services Company
Coretech is the IT engine to WPP group of companies. I was the lead technical Project
Manager for the WPP Group’s global transition project and managed print service spanning
across 7,000 companies. This lead management role was to co-ordinate a team of 20
globally placed Service Managers. The programme and associated projects is one of the
largest IT transitions worldwide with a £500 million budget.
My lead project was the office relocation and upgrade of infrastructure including new
smartphones, tablets and home and office automation and SMART and Wi-Fi upgrade. The
project spanned across Europe, Asia, USA. The user base covered 100 to 4,000 users.
I took on a large change in transition and was asked to project manage a global office move
to a brand new building holding 4,000 people in Shanghai. This was an extremely
demanding, highly pressurised role that required to me to be on call 24 hours a day, if
required. I developed and delivered the planning throughout the project transition lifecycle.
The contract was based on 34 penalty milestones and 134 dependencies that needed to
deliver on time at each stage of the project.
Kingston University Campuses – Technical project manager
Surbiton. February 2015 – June 2015
Kingston University is a public research facility located in Kingston upon Thames. It was
originally founded in 1899 and became a major university in 1992. I was the Project Manager
for the migration and roll-out of the Campus wide Cisco LAN, WAN and VoIP/Telephony and
the overall Infrastructure of the campuses. I also managed the full estate and facilities
project which dealt with SITs with 3rd party contractors. The role required a full re-plan to
bring the work streams back in line to hit the deadlines set within the agreed contract. I took
an opportunity to overview and organise the deliverables of the projects as they were not
achieving their milestones or the dependencies set in place. The projects were based on an
ITIL service management approach whilst adopting an Agile/Scrum development process
4. SECSU – March 2014 – February 2015
Senior Technical Project Manager for medium to large scale relocation projects, while
managing a portfolio of projects in progress and scoping projects to go live for the future.
Portfolio comprised of six figure sum estate and facilities projects, including the Nelson
Hospital, NHS England properties, universities and private sector refits.
I Project Managed the estates and infrastructure implementation for Nelson Hospital in
Richmond. The new high tech Nelson Hospital has been rebuilt from the ground up. Being
the senior project manager and technical lead I had 3 teams of project managers and
technical staff moving forward to complete the full implementation. This was a demanding
project with changes that required urgent re-planning and high level technical decisions daily.
This was to enable trusts between different NHS environments to relocate into one
location. The project demanded daily project reports to the stake holders, customers and
the project board.
RBS FTSE 250 company – Technical Project Manager Office/Site relocation –
Managed Print Service – May 2012 – January 2014
I was the Lead Technical Project Manager on office/Site relocations, refits and new
contracted buildings. This transition program for the Royal Bank Of Scotland covered all UK
and Ireland sites, with a user base from 50 to 2000. The relocation and refits included full
infrastructure upgrades and Wi-Fi. The relocations had to include the new fully contracted
managed print service for RBS. The project had strict timelines, milestones and scheduled
deployment dates to meet the banks contractual timelines. I was responsible for the budget
spend and reporting to the senior project team on the key milestones of the project. I
managed all 3rd party contractors ensuring that all work packages and schedules were
completed in line with the Project Plan. The overall budget for this project was £6+ million.
UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre: December 2011 – May 2012
The lead project manager for all IT Infrastructure, print and audio visual. This was within a
ground breaking, high profile and state of the art Cancer Centre (the second largest in the
world). This was a hugely challenging project to ensure timelines and budgets were met at
every stage. There have been numerous obstacles to overcome, including dealing with
contradictory stakeholders, working with them to find solutions to continually meet the strict
deadlines.
Northern Gas Utilities: August 2011 – December 2011
Brought in via Logica to support a failing transition project covering various sites across
Northern England. Working away from home for weeks at a time to resolve wide ranging
issues following the merger of the 2 largest gas companies in the North.

planning, implementing and relocating numerous departments across the UCLH Estate
Xerox Managed Print Service: Nov 2009 – Dec 2010
Lead Project Manager for the roll out of a fully Managed Print Service with Xerox, subcontracted
through Logica. The project was to deliver a Managed Print Service across the UCLH Trust
Estate. The result was the rationalisation of the current print estate of 3,000 print devices.
The transition over to multifunctional devices lead to a saving of over £1.2 million pounds for
the Trust. A spearheading, year-long project beset with numerous and wide ranging issues
which has now become a major success story and is being rolled out to other Trusts across
the UK.
