A full denture replaces all teeth on top, bottom or both and the supporting tissue (bone and gums) that always keep changing always after the extractions. It recovers and sits on top the residual gum/ridge, in the case of a top denture the palate will also be recovered. The dentures hold only by suction, the edges of the denture are sealed by the soft tissues. Upper dentures (top ones) are easier to get used to then the lowers. With upper dentures the (palate) roof the mouth, the suction is greater, therefore it can hold better. Wearing lower dentures can be much more difficult than wearing upper dentures since there are less suction. The adaptation and stability of the denture depends on the height of the ridge, the viscosity of the saliva and the bite.
