Q3 2018 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• On MDF-based portlets of the new people profile, the link to pending workflow data on the view page is now visible.
• SuccessFactors changed the session timeout behavior. Now, when a user allows their session to time out or closes their window without
logging out, the next time they log in they are redirected to the last screen they were using. Before, they were redirected to their
default start page.
• SAP has introduced new options for the People Search box in the global page header and in other places across the HCM Suite
where you search for people. You can now choose to include inactive users in the search or to allow search by additional
keywords such as job title, department, division, or location. Both settings require role-based permissions.
• Enhanced user experience of the search in people profile for customers using global assignment or concurrent employment.

Impact / Importance
There are two new rule functions available which you can use to calculate the maximum total FTE across multiple employments of
an employee during a given time-period, and determine the date on which that maximum FTE occurs.
Business Rules
There is a new API available – ExternalTimeData. If you use clock-in/clock-out (CI/CO) time recording, you can now use this API to
build a custom solution for importing your CI/CO data into Employee Central. All you have to do is create ExternalTimeData records with a
start time, end time, and a time type based on the time punches from your CI/CO system, and you can upload them to EC Payroll Time
Sheet with the new API. Time Sheet will then use them to generate time pay components which you can transfer to your payroll system
using the standard replication scenarios.

Q3 2018 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
• With Q3 2018, for the templates of category "Document Generation" you can generate and email a PDF document from a template
for multiple users (maximum 500).
• You can now download the data model XML file for the source and target instances in the Configuration Sync Wizard.
• You can now create custom tiles that display dynamic content from a third-party, such as an SAP Cloud Platform extension,
directly on the new home page. Before, you could only show third-party content in a popover, using an iframe. Now you can display
dynamic content directly on the face of the tile so that it is immediately visible to users. This optional feature needs to be enabled and
then set up both in SuccessFactors and in the third-party application.
• BCUI has now added HRIS sync mapping support for "User info field" and "User info Record Key" which allows users to
maintain their own configurations and this helps eliminate the role of support or implementation partners to be involved in making
configuration changes.
• In this release, there have been enhancements when you’re downloading templates on the "Import Employee Data" page.
Previously, the system displayed the data fields by their field IDs under “Available Data fields”. To provide a better user experience, you
can now view field labels that have been configured in the data model, instead of field IDs, and these labels appear in their
alphabetical order. This further helps you to easily search for a particular data field. Additionally, you can now download a
template specific to a country from the newly introduced “Select a Country” dropdown. By default, the country is not selected.
This allows you to view all the field labels configured both in Succession data model and Country-specific data models under "Available
Data fields". However, on choosing a country, for example, USA, the system will automatically list only the data fields configured in the
Succession data model and Country-specific data model for the selected country USA.
• With this release, Admins can now upload an existing attachment stored in the system through the "Termination Details"
template. To perform this, you need to specify the attachment-id of the document in the import CSV file. Note that the support for
attaching documents in a zipped file for this entity is not yet available.
• Rehires and employees with Global Assignment or Concurrent Employment can now use their old usernames as login names
to log into SuccessFactors.

Q3 2018 Quick Preview – Employee Central & Platform
As of the Q3 2018 release, it is possible to display the level an entity is on in the org entity chart. The level information is updated
automatically, whenever the child/parent relation or association changes. You can define whether you would like to display the level
Information for a certain company structure definition and, in addition, the number you would like to start with on the highest level
(example: 0 or 1).

Impact / Importance
• When migrating organizational objects from the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to Employee Central or replicating them
from Employee Central to ERP, you can now include composite child objects. Let's say, you replicate Position objects from Employee
Central to the ERP system. Together with the Position object itself you can now also replicate the positionMatrixRelationship object, which
is associated as a child object to the Position object, using the Composite association type.
• SAP SuccessFactors adjusted the status handling in replication of generic organizational objects from Employee Central to the
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. If processing of an organizational object request was not successful due to a data or
configuration issue, the request is set to the Failed status directly, instead of setting it to Pending first. We also improved the
processing in cases of temporary issues, for example, because the object couldn't be locked or the parent object hasn't been replicated
yet. The corresponding requests are immediately reprocessed. If the situation didn’t change after this retry, the system assumes that the
issues won't be solved immediately and stores the requests with the Pending status on the database.

Employee Central Service Center, Global Information for an employee, Benefits Administration, Mobile, Metadata Framework, etc.
