Objective: Deliverprocessdesignof a1,750T/day oxygenplant,intighttimescale andbudget.
Achieved: Deliveredprocessdesign,constructionsupport,andcommissioningsupportin
time,tomanhourbudget,andto personal praise fromthe projectmanager.
Identifiedanddesignedchanges toAirProducts’standardcolumninternals,to
reduce columnheightby2m while improvingperformance. Testfeedbackshows
efficiency0.5%betterthanspecification,capacity3% overspecification,andgood
operability.
Role: Lead process designengineer,responsibleforplantperformance,processdesign
manhoursand schedule,andleadingateamof four designers. Pointof contactfor
all otherdisciplinesduringdetaileddesign.
Consultancyservice,Al Jubail,Saudi Arabia (2007)
Objective: Deliveracomplex consultancybrief,withintightschedule,andmaintainor
enhance clientrelationship.
Achieved: Service deliveredtothe clients’expresseddelight. Follow-onworkawarded,on
the basisof the qualityof the service alreadygiven. Includedanon-site surveyand
designreview withthe client,asthe company’sprincipal representative.
Role: Processengineer,leadconsultant.
Deliveryof a 480T/day liquefierand2,400T/day nitrogenplant (2006 - 2007)
Objective: Design,buildandcommissionthe facilitiesforIsle of GrainPhase 2, to serve the
UK’s largestLNG receivingterminal.
Achieved: Leda designteaminthe deliveryof the full processdesignof the facility.
Successfullyintegratedthe effortsof three groupsontwocontinents,todeliverthe
facilityontime andwithinbudget. Specifyanddevelopacomplex pipeline
managementsystem, tomeetthe client’sstringentrequirementfor100%
reliability,deliveryof productwithin10secondsof demand,andminimisingpower
consumption. Commissionedandtestedthe entire system, demonstratingthe
performance of the whole facility,includingthe pipeline manager. Achieved7%
improvementonpowerconsumption,generating$40,000 per yearadditional
revenue. Successful deliveryof a120 bar.g LIN pumpingsystem, withpumpsat
nearlythree timesthe vendor’sprevious experience forsize,withoutsignificant
safetyor performance issuesandnoon-site re-workrequired.
Role: Lead processdesignengineer.
370T/day air separationand liquefactionfacility design,procurementandcommissioning (2005 –
2007)
Objective: Delivermachinery,processdesign,andcommissioningof the TongxiangASU,our
firstof this size inChinaandof the productline. Commissionandtestwithina
challengingtimescale.
Achieved: Plantbroughtonline exactlytoschedule. Overall spend8% lowerthaninitial
estimate,despite challengingcoordinationproblemsbetweendistantteamsand
vendorinexperience withChinese codesandregulatoryrequirements. Diagnose
problemswiththe argoncolumn,leadingtorestorationof the specifiedproduction
followingcolumnmodifications.
Role: Machineryengineerforthe whole durationof the project. Frominitial
specificationof compressors,cryogenicexpanders,liquidoxygenpumps,and
packagedequipment. LiaisonwithChinesedesignteamtoensure integrationand
compliance withlocal regulations. Processdesignparticipation. Leadmachinery
commissioningonsite,andtake overprocesscommissioningduringtestingand
handover.
Liquidnitrogen storage and deliverysystem(2005)
Objective: Designanddeliver1,000 tonne liquidnitrogenstorage andpumpingsystem.
Resolve client’scomplaintsoverperformance withinguarantee period.
Achieved: Designedsystem,withinbudgetandschedule. Multiple sitevisitstodiagnose the
causesof the shortfall,designa solution,andtesteffectiveness.
Role: Processdesignengineer.
