1. Developing in each student the knowledge and
understanding, skills and
values and attitudes needed to lead healthy,
active and fulfilling lives.
2. The Importance of PDHPE
PDHPE is an important part of the school curriculum and we
need your help in giving it the recognition that it deserves.
Many people think that PDHPE is just the time of the day
where the children learn about the human body and go
outside to play sport, however, it is a crucial part of their
learning as it covers important areas including:
Understanding and valuing themselves and others
The factors that lead to and benefits of a healthy lifestyle
How to make decisions that are responsible and informed
How to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships
3. The Importance of PDHPE
The PDHPE syllabus focuses on developing fundamental skills
that are not only relevant to sport and health, but life in
general. These skills are covered under a range of topics and
at varying levels according to the children’s stage (i.e. Stage 2,
Grades 3 and 4). The fundamental skills in PDHPE are:
Moving
Problem-solving
Communication
Interacting
Decision-making
4. The Importance of PDHPE
We want our children to grow up to be people who
value themselves and others and can be confident in
their own abilities and strengths. We want them to be
people who think first before making decisions in that
they can make good decisions that ensure their own
wellbeing and development. PDHPE plays an important
part in teaching children the necessary skills to be
healthy, competent and informed people.
5. The Importance of PDHPE
Developing in each student the knowledge and
understanding, skills and values and attitudes
needed to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives.
This is the aim of the PDHPE syllabus.
Will you help us achieve it?
