THEY ARE QUITE GOOD. THEY HAVE FULFILED THE PRESENTATION.
SUMMARY OF THE CONTENT (120-150 words)
Through the presentation, there are many things that I can learn and remember.
The first thing is that a corpus is a principled and large collection(body) of
authentic texts which are stored in a computer and analyzed using software
designed for corpus analysis. The second thing is that factor of observation which
is not restrictedto any single method, but concordances are essential for studying
lexical, grammatical, and semantic patterns. Concordance data are often especially
good at distinguishing words with related propositional meanings, but different
connotations and patterns of usage. Corpora allow individual utterances to be
interpreted against the usage of many speakers and the intertextual norms of
general language use. Many facts about frequency, grammar, and meaning are
systematic and evident in corpora, but unrecorded in pre-corpus dictionaries. The
next thing is that Modern Corpora and Software. Corpus study is inherently
sociolinguistic, since the data are authentic acts of communication. A corpus
reveals what frequently recurs, sometimes hundreds or thousands of times, and
cannot possibly be due to chance.
In conclusion, Corpus in terms of linguistic is very important in language learning
and language teaching.
