long and storied history with Privateers Athletics.

fans during the early days of Privateers basketball
when battles with local rivals Tulane, and Xavier
would pack over 4,000 into the noisey wooden
bleachers.
The HPC has been the home of Privateers basketball
during two different stints, first from 1969 until the
opening of Lakefront Arena in 1983, and then from
2006 to 2008 due to repairs at Lakefront Arena fol-
lowing Hurricane Katrina.
Those same renovations would make the HPC the
home for the volleyball program as well from 2006
to 2009. Volleyball would play the 2010 season in
the Lakefront Arena Auxiliary gym, before splitting
the 2011 season between both Lakefront Arena
floors and the HPC. The volleyball program perma-
nently returned to the HPC before the 2012 cam-
paign.
The HPC seats 1,760 fans and can accommodate
three regulation volleyball courts, or one regulation

Nearly 4,000 fans watched Privateers volleyball at the
HPC in 2013.With over 350 fans per game, Privateers
Volleyball was the fourth most supported volleyball

Program.
SincereaffirmingourstatusasaDivisionIprogramin2012,wehaveestablishedand
maintained the student-athlete experience as our foremost priority. Our coaches,
administrators and support staff are driven by this priority each day.
While we have made significant improvements to the areas which directly
impact the student-athlete experience, further advancements are essential.
Our strength and conditioning program is one of the more important (and neces-
sary) areas of focus. Specifically, we must to upgrade and expand the strength and
conditioning training facilities available to our sutdent-athletes.
Improved strength and conditioning facilities are fundamental resources for use in
the physical and psychological developmentof our student-athletes. We verified our
commitment to our student-athletes by hiring a full-time strength and conditioning
coach in the summer of 2013. The next step in this progression is to afford them
the venue and equipment to maximize athletic potential and, consequently, build a
championship foundation for our program.
We are proud to launch Privateers Power… a campaign for the advancement of the
NewOrleansAthleticsStrengthConditioningprogram.Wearecommittedtoapro-

supportto shepherd this project from concept to reality.
