Founded 30 years ago in London, the Pelicans Group has grown
into one of Europe’s largest design and manufacturing companies
of bespoke items in leather and man-made fabrics. Starting
out as a supplier of corporate gifts, Pelicans quickly expanded
and today we are proud to be the supplier of choice to most
major car manufacturers as well as boasting an impressive
customer base amongst luxury hotel groups, prestigious
finance & fashion houses and The Royal households. With
customers on every continent we are a truly global brand.
Our 800 skilled and dedicated full-time staff, located on
3 continents take pride in producing work of the highest
standards. We combine traditional British craftsmanship with
the most advanced and sophisticated manufacturing systems
enabling us to tailor and finish products to the exacting
requirements of our customers each and every time.
Having been associated with the ultra-luxury
hospitality industry across the globe, the Pelicans
Group reflects the true essence of what it means
to supply extraordinary products to brands such
as Dorchester Collection. Salma and her team
have assisted us here in the UK with several leather
products in our newly opened hotels at both
45 Park Lane and Coworth Park, Ascot.

01 History
Since the beginning in 1983, Pelicans has prided itself on delivering
innovative, market leading solutions for its customers. Over the years
our dedicated management team has built up a loyal, motivated
and highly skilled workforce, ensuring that we meet our customers
needs on time and within budget. Despite our growth, we remain an
independently owned company and the underlying Pelicans culture
is one of family and a close-knit community. This is one of the many
factors that enable us to meet our customers’ every expectation.
We always strive to build good working relationships with
our customers, listening carefully to their needs, meeting and
working with them to exceed their expectations. Indeed some
of our earliest customers, who have known and worked with
us since the beginning, continue to be our customers today.
Because we understand our markets, the importance of brand,
corporate identity, and the whole sales and after sales experience,
we have built strong customer loyalty over the years. We supply an
impressive number of blue chip organisations around the world in
a range of businesses, supplying accessories and corporate gifts
for fashion and finance houses, servicing hotels with products for
their rooms, public spaces and giveaways through to delivering
car document packs for the automotive industry and helping to
enhance their after sales and second hand car experiences.

Each member of the Pelicans team throughout the world shares
the core belief that every product we create should be the best in
the world. It is a testament to their skill, hard work and dedication
that they rise to the challenge of working with ground breaking
designs, innovative materials and bespoke finishes to produce the
very best. All the time working within tight deadlines and within
cost constraints. Our customers know that we will never let them
down – we always deliver!
All services are completed in-house, from start to finish, which
means we can offer truly bespoke solutions that help bring
customer’s ideas and brands to life.
Discussions with customers are central to our production process.
We make sure we understand the initial brief and provide expert
advice on these ideas, using our knowledge and experience to
guide and improve as appropriate. Our pioneering and dedicated
outlook means we can propose a plan of action that will bring even
the most challenging concepts to life.
Complexity, scale, quantity and distribution needs will affect the
next stage of production. We may need to design and prototype
the product using our production facilities in either or both the
UK and India. Whatever our customers requirements we work
with them to hone their ideas, perhaps experimenting with new or
alternative materials, finishes and designs. All to ensure that the
finished goods meet the exacting quality requirements of
our customers.
Our award winning factories use state of the art technology and
provide the perfect production environment. We combine British
traditions of craft and quality with India’s qualities of industry
and technological advancement. But most importantly, both
house our highly dedicated and energetic production team,
who meticulously carry out their work to ensure that only items
of the highest quality leave our doors. Our quality checking,
throughout the whole production process, is second to none.

We understand the importance of timely delivery and therefore
plan production to ensure our customers, we can cost-
effectively distribute globally, maximising speed and efficiency.
Our logistics team make sure that delivery schedules are
strictly adhered to and that customers are kept in the loop at all
stages. The whereabouts and transit times of stock is constantly
monitored so that there are no surprises. Our customers always
know where their goods are and when they will be delivered.

Company Toyota GB PLC. The relationship
endures to this day but has grown internationally
which has been the result of Pelican’s single-

Pelicans commitment to being eco friendly does not just come from
our commitment to corporate and social responsibility, but also from an
innate belief that looking after the environment is the right thing to do.
Since our inception in 1983, we have always recycled and reused
off-cut materials in-house as far as possible. What we are unable to
recycle in-house we recycle responsibly through third parties. Over
the years, as technology has moved on, we have been able to recycle
more in-house. One of our first investments was on-site recycling
baling equipment, which ensures that any excess materials during the
manufacturing process are responsibly recycled. However, as part of
our long-term recycling programme, our efforts are not just limited to
our award-winning factories in India but also extend to our offices and
warehouses, where we recycle a variety of materials including card,
plastic, cans, chemicals, toner, wood, metals and, of course, leather.
Another fundamental and essential part of our environmental efforts,
is our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint through energy
saving materials. All our factory equipment is tested regularly to
ensure it is working correctly and that no excess energy is being
used. Furthermore all lighting in our offices, warehouses and factories
use T5 energy saving lamps that are triggered by motion sensors, to
ensure electricity usage is minimized and there is no wastage.

Over the last 30 years, we have continued to adapt our
environmental policies, and embrace new ones, to ensure
any impacts arising from our work and production processes
are minimized so that we do not contribute to pollution.
By saving energy we are also able to reduce our expenditure,
all of which is extremely good news for our customers who
benefit from our lower energy costs.
Finally ‘Giving back’ is an inherent part of the Pelicans philosophy
and culture since the very beginning. We believe in not only helping
those that form the Pelicans family and the communities we live in
but also those in parts of the world that need our help. Over the
last 30 years we have invested in projects all over the world, with
a special focus on projects related to education, health, medical
research and disaster relief.

Over the years Pelicans has moved from being ‘just’ a
manufacturing company to one that many customers rely on
for innovative product designs, packaging ideas and particularly
for car companies, cost effective supply and distribution
processes. From initial ideas and conception through to
production and distribution, Pelicans works with the customer
on every step of the journey, leaving no stone un-turned.
All our services are provided in-house, which is much appreciated
by our customers.
We take pride in the fact that we work with across various
sectors and industries. For example, we create bespoke and
personalised corporate gifts that are elegant and timeless for
some of the most pre-eminent global financial houses; we also
instil in our products a unique sense of celebrating British heritage
and craft, allowing us to work with the Royal Households.
Our computer and systems expertise is recognised by the
automotive industry as we work with them to ensure that as their
cars come off the assembly line the correct user manual (right
make, model and language) is slipped into the glove compartment.
By using sophisticated barcoding technology we can ensure that
the right material is printed and fulfilled in time for a seamless track
fit operation. We manage this process and work with print suppliers,
taking yet another pressure off our automotive customers.
Because of our collaborative outlook and can do/will do
attitude we work with fashion houses from around the world
in helping to design and realise their products. And it is
this approach combined with our ability to create a range
of products that ensures we work with some of the most
reputable names in hospitality, where through creativity
and quality, our products help bring their brands alive.
From start to finish, Pelicans is a one-stop-shop, so whether it’s

Starting as an independent British company, the very soul of
Pelicans is engrained with a sense of British heritage and craft.
Whether working on quantities of hundreds or hundreds of
thousands, each product is created lovingly and with pride
by our dedicated and expert team. It is their knowledge
of materials, how to work them and their attention to
detail that ensures each item is finished to perfection.
As the spirit of craft has remained with us since the beginning,
we are able to produce truly bespoke items to meet your
needs. To us, the right weight, touch and texture are as
important as colour, design and quantity. We never compromise
and, by combining the highest technical standards with this
tradition, we ensure each and every item is flawless.

We offer so many options it can be hard for our customers
to decide on the final finish which is why we offer a sampling
service to our same high standards of craftsmanship. Options
include:
Foil Blocking
This process, also known as foil stamping, sees a foil applied to the
material using heat and a metal blocking die. The artwork on the
die can consist of anything from small type to complex illustrations
and the most popular choices have metallic finishes.
Embossing Debossing
This is the process of raising (embossing) a design or image above
the level of the material or pressing (debossing) a design or image
below the level of the material for greater emphasis or impact. This
subtle impact can be further enhance by introducing more complex
types of embossing such as multi-level, pillow and bevelled. Colour
can also be introduced, to provide greater visual impact.
Metal Badging
This is the process of attaching a customised metal badge, such
as a logo, to a finished item. This can be used to great effect and
helps portray the brand quality.
Plastic Badging
This is the same process as metal badging and the plastic can be
customised to any design. Depending on the materials, a plastic
badge can sometimes better suit the overall design and create that
added impact.

Leather Printing
This is a unique process blending high technology and craft
where high definition and complex designs can be printed directly
onto leather items using pure pigment based inks that hold their
colour permanently (unlike many dyes) to really create something
memorable.
Silk Screen
This process, also known as screen printing, can be used on
a variety of materials. The printing is done by hand and the
craftsmanship and hand-finishing involved really adds a bespoke
feel to the product, helping create a sense of luxury and quality.
Fittings
Fittings can bring usability to products by combining a variety of
textiles, fabrics, eyelets, corners, zips and metal items with the core
material. Creatively used they can make the item feel truly bespoke
Combining Materials
We work with a very large range of materials from the finest leathers
to simple supported vinyl leather cloth. Leathers themselves range
from exotic hides through to recycled leathers; leatherettes can
be polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride based. Finishes and colours
are infinite. We can use other fabrics too, even the finest of silks,
providing we can laminate them to stop them fraying during the
stitching process. These fabrics can be used independently or in
conjunction with other materials. We are constantly seeking out
new materials and finishes.
Wood Metal
We have in-house wood and metal expertise to make speciality
boxes. These boxes are tailor made out of different kinds of wood
then covered and lined in leathers and/or man-made materials.

All materials that we use are REACH compliant and can
be further re-formulated to ensure they pass the most
stringent of automotive and other industry tests.
Our sewing machines, operated by our skilled machinists
can stitch using 60 gauge thread down to a heavy 10 gauge
and the pitch can be varied to suit the product. The thread
can be colour coordinated or contrasted to suit. In fact you
can have one colour on the top stitch and another colour on
the bottom stitch. Stitches don’t have to be straight, we can
work in zigzags and other patterns. The choice is yours.

Pelicans Group core activity has always centered around the
Automotive Industry and we currently supply more than 25 car
manufacturers’: From Aston Martin to Volvo – some pan-European
and some globally.
Primary supply is the glove box pack, translated, printed, fulfilled
into the pouch or wallet and delivered ‘just-in-time’ anywhere in
the world against the car manufacturer’s broadcast of requirement.
– The pouch or wallet is made from materials which, at a minimum,
are fully REACH compliant or specially reformulated to meet the
very strict environmental conditions set by the car manufacturer.
– The design of the pouch or wallet is tailored to match the marque
of the company, sized to where it is housed in the vehicle and
embossed to create synergy.
– Only translation agencies that adhere to our standards are
used and must belong to either the Association of Translation
Companies or the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.
– Only FSC accredited paper is used during the print process and
working closely with our print partners, The Elanders Group, we
ensure timely deliveries and cost efficient production methods.
– Bar-code print production is at the heart of the process to
guarantee the correct content, in the correct order and bound to
the correct cover. With upward of 3000 variations of print per car
manufacturer – the bar-code process is essential!
– Secure document management is used to ensure that only the
correct versions are released for print.
– Bar-code fulfilment guarantees the pack content and we also
provide bar-code control infrastructure at the points-of-fit for stock
control and also photographic proof that the correct language/
model pack has been placed in the vehicle.
– Global distribution to plant, hub, import centre, dealership or
customer is possible: From ad-hoc deliveries to full sequenced
daily deliveries for track fit.
