• Understand that there are different ways of
  thinking.
Skilled learners   -   Know what each hat means
will…              -   Apply the six hats way of thinking to
                       specific questions and proposals .

Excellent          -   Be able to reflect on which colour hat
learners will…         they use most and which colour hat
                       they might like to use more.
                   -   Consider the strengths and weaknesses
                       of each of the different hats.
White Hat

With this hat on you ask:
• What is the available information – the facts?
• What can you learn from the information?
• Are there any gaps in your knowledge?
• Can you fill the gaps?
• What has happened in the past?
• Can we learn from the past?

With this hat on you ask:
• What does your gut tell you?
• What does your instinct tell you?
• How will other people react emotionally?
• How will people respond who do not know how you
  think and why you think the way you do?

• Why might this idea not work?
• What are all of the negatives?
• What are the weak points of the plan?

• What are creative solutions to the problem?
• Can you think of an unusual way to solve the

•Each group has 2 proposals to read

•With your hat on discuss the proposals

•Each person must write at least 1 thing
       on the piece of A3 paper

•Choose 1 person to feedback to       the
      class at the end of the task

•You have 10 minutes
Proposal 1:
All students should have to wear school uniform.
Proposal 2:
All students must take part in one after school club
