6. Applications and Uses - Hexamethyl Disilazane
(HMDS)
 Used as an excellent adhesive promoter.
 Widely used in the paints and coatings industry.
 Used instead of the critical point drying in Electron
Microscopy.
 Used in the semiconductor industry due to its ability to
supplement the adhesion of photoresist on silicon surfaces.
 Used as an excellent agent in silylation of alcohols,
phenols, amines, and acids.
 Used as a lubricant, coupling agent, deactivator for
chromatographic support materials, chemical intermediate,

(CMIC)
The rising importance of CMIC in the field of medicine is due to
its 99% clarity assurance and its use to prepare tenofovir.
Tenofovir disoproxil hemifumarate salt is basically prepared
using dealkylating (R)-9-[2-(Diethyl phosphonomethoxy)
propyl) adenine.

 It is easily soluble in chloroform.
 Its 147.5 °C at 760 mmHg and its flash point is 50
