Millennials- The Million Dollar Engagement Mystery
“Selfie”
Was that even a word five years ago…
The answer may be hard to pinpoint.
But one thing is for certain-
If you wish to connect with Millennials,
consider a different tactical approach.
Millennials expectations-
In social and mobile media
it’s more them about them
as opposed to you about you.
And usually the content style is-
Shorter
More visual
More humanized
It’s likely to make them feel-
Connected
Engaged
Inspired
Often, it’s more humorous,
softer than foundational messages.
If you were to do a better job of
connecting with Millennials,
you’d do well to develop
a new content plan.
This can be achieved with the support of teams
and new processes for capturing content.
Teams may include-
Beneficiaries, (or students)
Event participants
Board members
Committees
Volunteers
Content capture “processes” may include-
Event captures
Activity captures
Amateur iPhone videos
Selfies
Mini miracles,
or just really cool everyday goings on…
“We the people” stuff…
While they’re nice-
You no longer need to have professional
photoshoots in order to thrive.
Remember, social and mobile media
is not you about you.
It’s them about them.
Vague?
Perhaps…
Maybe you could tackle it
with two styles of content-
The style you already know.
And, experimentation with new tactical approaches.
If you don’t change,
you won’t break through to Millennials.
Rewrite the social/mobile playbook,
Or, increase your irrelevancy.
