2. Introduction
Android” Lollipop” or simply “AND L” is the one of the
version of the Android mobile OS developed by Google.
It became available through official on Nov12,2014
One of the most prominent change in the Lollipop
release is a redesigned UI built around a design
Language referred to as “material design”.
OS is also switching from Dalvik to ART
3. What is Dalvik & ART
Dalvik is a virtual machine in google Android OS
that executes applications written for Android.
Android programs are compiled in to .dex files and
produce Byte code.
Intrepreters are slow so developers added a
technology Just in time(JIT).
4. ANDROID RUNTIME(ART)
ART is the next version of Dalvik.
It has a main feature A head of time
(AOT) compilation which improves speed
AOT means apps are compiled to native
code but not byte code
ART was first included in Kitkat but isn’t yet enabled by
default.

Lollipop 5.0 has a new Look and feel with bold
and new visuals consisting of a more colorful
Layout.

You can unlock by swiping up side.
You can also swipe left to directly
launch the camera.
While swiping right will launch the dialer.

Android L has the new recent apps
section which is of Google Now card

The open apps can be swiped off to
close them as before.

software library which is twice faster than Dalvik.
