2. Sound
There is a sound like an electric surges which is used to
make the audience feel disturbed for it is not a very nice
sound and makes the audience feel uncomfortable.
There is thumping like thunder which can be used for
suspense or a heartbeat.
The police sirens and noise of the rain, set the scene that
they are at a crime scene making the audience sense the
depressed mood or get the feeling that someone has been
killed.
A discordant sound track plays during the tile sequence and
the word “God” was spoke at the same time the word God
appears on screen.
3. Mise-en-Scene
Morgan Freeman’s character is shown to be very neat and
to like order in his life, which can show the audience that
maybe he has OCD or a slight form of it. His character is
also shown to be very smartly dressed for his clothes are
impeccable, he is also shown to make sure there isn’t even
a hair on his suit before he puts it on.
Mean while Brad Pits character is very ruggish, a bad boy
sort of vibe but still smart to show that he has worked hard
to get to where he is. Also the way he walks down the
street also shows us that he is new to town, by how he
crashes and bumps into people, while Morgan Freeman’s
character, who has lived there for years, doesn’t.
4. Editing
• The editing in the title sort of speeds up and there are
flashes from one scene to another really quickly.
• The pan on words that goes in time with the music, such
as the word ‘God’.
• They have a blurred sort of filter which makes it seem
disturbed and gets the audience to focus on what is on
the screen.
