2. Song
• MIA by The Foo Fighters.
• Last track on the album There Is Nothing Left
To Lose.
• Released in November 1999.
3. Band/Singer Identity
• Due to the genre of Alt Rock the band will need to
look casual yet competent – like the costume is their
image, not what they rolled up to town in.
• The costumes will probably include a plain-ish t shirt
with skinny jeans and converse, maybe a flannel shirt
to complement the look.
• The attitude of the band will probably alternate
between the melancholy of the narrative and the
performance will probably show a degree of emotion
to suit the feel and pace of the song.
5. Narrative
• The narrative is a story about a man losing a
battle with depression. Paranoid and in a job
he hates, coupled with his crumbling
relationship the frontman has had enough and
leaves his life behind, and various hints
suggest he will soon commit suicide. In the
final few scenes, he descends into the sea,
never to be seen again.
6. Alternatively...
• If you want something a bit more artsy we
could have an actor sitting at a table watching
a television, where a band is playing the song
in a TOTP scenario. This would all be
greyscale. Only he and the TV are in focus, and
at the close of the song he gets up and the
screen cuts to black. Spooky, huh?
7. Performance Elements
• The performance would have to take place
somewhere spacious enough to fit the whole
ensemble, so a stage or maybe a recording
studio. The video would cut to the band at the
choruses
8. Mis en Scene
• Props/Instruments – at least 1 guitar, a bass
guitar, drum kit, mic + stand, an amp, leads, a
passport photo of the main character’s gf. The
supporting characters will either be well
dressed or dressed as shabby street dwellers.
• Locations – Whitley beach, promenade, the
quarry, Newcastle, various abodes.
• Cast – 4 in the band, around 6 for the story,
9. Roles
• Harry and Lucy – filming and editing
• Jim – blog and editing
• Lucy – coordinate the cast
