Before starting the didactic unit, parents or tutors will receive instructions on what to do on each class with
their children and I’ll also mention the list of material learners will need for each class. I’ll also add links to the
videos and PDF files that would be uploaded on Google Drive.

Scaffolding strategies
The main strategythatI will use tointroduce the topicis show and tell. Inthisway I will be able to pre-teach
vocabularyandphrases throughthe use of flashcardsandmimingactions. I’ll focus every class on the use of
visual aids to support everything I’ll say.
Procedures
CLASS 1
To introduce the new vocabulary of the didactic unit “YUMMY FOOD”, young learners and their
parents/tutorswill have toattendazoommeetingthatwill be previouslyarrangedvia Whatsapp. They must
be all connected at the same time. In case some parents couldn’t participate in the meeting, this would be
recorded, uploaded on YouTube and then the link will be sent on Whatsapp.
Activity 1 – Attend a zoom meeting. Here I will greet my students and I will give learners a few minutes to
greet each other. Then I will introduce the topic using flashcards. I will open a fridge and name each item
that I will take fromthe fridge andlearnerswill have to show me their flashcards too and repeat the names
of eachitem.(The flashcardswill be uploadedon Google drive. The link is on the file called “ Instructions”).

Activity 2 – I will playa“memorise the sequence”game withSsusingaplatform called MIRO. In this way, all
learnerscould participate in the activity as I will expect them to identify each item every time I’m adding a
newone to the sequence. Theyhave tosaythe numberstheysee oneachsequence andrepeat all the items
that will be hidden behind some blue rectangles.
Activity 3 – In thisactivity,Sswill workathome with a copy of a sequence template in which they will have
to designtheirownsequence and parents will have to record a video or send an audio file to subsequently

upload them on Padlet. In this case, I will be able to see in the video or listen to in the audio file how
students are saying/memorizing the sequence.

CLASS 2
Activity 1- Watchinga video. Tostart the class, I’ll send on Whatsapp a link of a video of myself in which I’ll
be playing with dough of different colours and telling students that I’ll prepare my favourite food. I’ll
introduce the phrase “my favouritefood is…”and I’ll mentionthe coloursthatI’mgoingto use to prepare my
favourite food. Then I’ll ask students what is their favourite food and ask them to show me.

Activity 2- Students will be asked to play with dough at home and model their favourite food. Before the
class,doughof differentcoloursmustbe ready. Parentsortutorsshouldrecordlearnerswhen they describe
the colourof theirproductionand when they say “My favourite food is…” In case their favourite food is not
inthe vocabularyof the didacticunit,I’ll translate the word into English and I’ll send a Whatsapp voice note
to the child to teach him/her the word for the favourite food.

CLASS 3
In thisclass, I’ll expectstudents to be creative and I developed the following activities to help them on the
development of their creative process.
Activity 1- Watchinga videotointroduce a song.I’ll sendonWhatsappa linkof a videoof myself talking to a
duck puppet. I’ll ask the puppet “Do you like…?” and every time the duck will say “Yes, I do. Yummy” it will
showa heart emoji and,andeverytime it’ll say “No, I don’t. Yucky!” the puppet will show the “sick” emoji.

Activity 2 – Listening to a song. Now students are ready to listen to a song. I chose the following one:

Activity 3 – Time to be creative! At home, parents will have to have a cardboard in hand and print or draw
the emojis that will be have already uploaded on Google Drive. Then young learners will have to draw the
yummyfoodunderthe heartemoji andthe yuckyunderthe sick emoji.Butforthe yucky food learners need
to be creative and mix the food from the yummy section to create new disgusting food.

CLASS 4
For this last class I’ll use the storytelling technique to narrate to learners a short story about two ants that
feel hungry and find a picnic with lots of delicious food. It’s a really simple story. I’ll use all the vocabulary
that I introduced during the whole didactic unit.
Activity 1 – Watchinga video:astorytellingsession.Students will watch a video of myself (that will be sent
to the Whatsappgroup) in whichI’ll narrate a storyusingbigpictures of a book called A yummy picnic taken

Activity 2 – Orderthe sequence of eventsin the story. In Google Drive, parents will find a PDF file called “A
yummypicnic”.Theyhave to printitand give itto theirchildren.There are 4 pictures of the story and young
learnerswill have to order the events in a chronological way. Learners can also watch a long version of the
storyon YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knnQk4CEAXk .Once Ss orderthe events,parentswill
have upload photos of the final production (or maybe from the entire production at home) on Padlet.
Activity 3 – Playingamemorygame on the mobile orat the computer.Match the pairsand saythe foodyou
see.Forthisactivity,parentsneedtorecordtheirchildrenplaying.
