Persuasive Essay On High School Field Trips
Field trips are a good way to spend the school districts money because it gives time for students to get a break from school work and tests. Students
get to learn new things by going to field trips. Some field trips help the students understand better the subject they are learning about. When the
school takes you to a field trip for your history class to a museum you get to learn more about the past and the things that people we didn't know have
been through in a way that we don't just take notes. When younger students hear about going to a field trip they get excited because they get to go see
new things about science and history that they don't really learn about. For the highschool students most field trips are usually about see colleges. This
gives the students a chance to see what there choices are before becoming a senior or if they are seniors to help them make a right decision once they
got the information on the schools they are more interested in going to or planning to go to.
Yes it might be a little more work for the teachers to figure out transportation and get accepted to the place they want to go. It does take time from
the teacher doing there own work but it gives students and teachers to see what they are teaching or learning by seeing it by real or explained pictures
of what happened and what the people back then might have discovered. It might be more money for the district to spend but it is for educational
reasons. Instead of the district spending it on things they might not need. Field trips to go see colleges gives a better understanding and input of the
things or classes that the students will need for the career field they are thinking of doing. Ramao states, "Fourth and fifth graders should see colleges
and universities, middle school students are meant to learn more about art or science on their trips and highschool students should visit places that teach
them about their academy's area of focus"(Lillian Monegeau) .
In middle school I had field trips to colleges and to go see art performances. I was very excited to see how people express feelings or situations through
dance. It was a fun experience I had. Going to see colleges in eighth grade and sixth grade gave me a

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has
heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose
scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will
summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by
the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was
accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the
weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed
nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of
getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty
finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out
these two semesters

Persuasive Essay About High School
Starting school when you're four years old changes tremendously to when you're seventeen or eighteen. There are a few things about school that remain
the same, but many more changes are made throughout the years. Gradually homework gets harder and more complex, teachers change, different
activities are added, and much more. Elementary is just the base of what your life will be like in the future. High School prepares you more for the rest
of your life and is when you individually get to have options and decisions to make. Elementary school consists of learning vocabulary (words),
making friends, basic math, and playing outside for recess. The classes you take in Elementary are mandatory. You have to take Math, Science,
Language Arts, P.E., Music, Social Studies, Art, and Reading without have a choice on which class to take. There are no complex levels of
classes that you can take. Everyone is in the same class and it's usually with the same teacher. For example, your third grade teacher would teach
all your classes to you and you would stay in the same room for almost the whole day besides for Art, Music, and P.E. There are normally three
teachers for each grade which means your entire grade would be split up into three groups and those are the groups you'll be with the whole year.
Recess and lunch was the only times you could see your other friends that are in your grade. Everyone in first through sixth grade do not have any
classes together, it is strictly grade by

Persuasive Essay On Education In School
Education is a crucial aspect of people's lives. In the United States and numerous other countries, we are reminded throughout our twelve years of
mandatory schooling that we must do well so that we can get into a good college, achieve a degree, and then lead an accomplished and fulfilling
career. Despite the fact that this idea is drilled into our heads from a very young age, our system of education does not provide each child with the same
amount of support and encouragement. A vast number of black children are penalized for simply wearing their hair in its natural state. There have been
numerous instances in which black children are threatened with detention, suspension, and even expulsion if they refused to change their hairstyle into

Deanna and Mya Cook are two adopted twin sisters from Massachusetts who faced similar discrimination for their hairstyles. The twin girls went to
school with freshly done box braids and were told that their new style did not coincide with their school's dress code. These girls faced several harsh
punishments like being unable to attend prom, being unable to attend their graduation, and the twins were even told that they would be thrown out of
school if they did not change their hair. When an eight–year–old third–grader wore her hair styled in a "frohawk", a popular style that combines an afro
and a mohawk, for school at Tarver Elementary in Belton, Texas she was pulled out of class. The school's justification for this decision was by alleging
that the eight–year–old girl's hairstyle was not in accordance with the school's dress code policy, however, mohawks, the exact same style sans the
afro–textured hair, is allowed.
The testimonies of these girls and their parents are obvious acts of resistance. Their stories made headlines and people across the country know who
they are and how they were wronged. Rather than enduring the unjust punishments and accepting their circumstances they spoke up. They used their
voices and projected them loudly through social media. They were able to utilize their platforms so that they oppose the prejudice.

Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students
With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now
seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or
succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a
diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more content...
Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the
classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting.
Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what
particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers
should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative
learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they
tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they
already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so.
They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be. As
acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way
that appeals to their strengths, you're giving them a chance

Persuasive Essay : Should Teenagers Get Jobs
Less than 3 in 10 teenagers hold jobs during the summer, and this number has been on a sharp decrease since 2000 (Yen 1). This decrease is
because teenagers are handed everything now, meaning don't need to work for it themselves; and because employers aren't hiring. This is an
extremely low amount, because all teenagers should get jobs, in order to learn many life skills, respect, and be able to support themselves.
Everyone has thought about getting a job, even if they do not have one, and the argument of whether or not teenagers should get jobs or not, is a
very controversial issue. The biggest issue people see with teenagers getting jobs is that it will affect grades and participation at school, which can
be true, but the key to anything is to make sure that it is done in moderation. Obviously it is true that if there is a teenager trying to work five days
a week, and balance school, they will most likely struggle in school. This is especially true if they work long hours. On the other hand, if they only
work for three days a week, and only a few hours each day, they can get the benefits of having a job as a teenager, and still be able to focus in school.
Experts even say that having a summer job can help prevent the "educational backsliding that happens between school years for high school students"
(Belsner 1), which is something that many students struggle with, because unless students study over the summer, they usually forget some of the
things they learned the year

Dear Editor,
High School is a very difficult and confusing time for most teenagers. Trying to balance schoolwork, family, social life, sports, etc., is very tricky. But
learning to balance all of those things is what makes high school important. It sets the students up for life after high school. It teaches students very
important life lessons that they will hopefully take into their lives after high school. High school is about turning into a well rounded person by doing
well in school as well as balancing the time for other activities. That is why I agree{{remove I statements}} that in order to take place in after school
activities, the students must achieve a B average or above; because students should learn to be well–rounded while still...show more content...
In school students getting good grades will help them get into better colleges. Yes, colleges do look for well–rounded students, but the first things that
colleges look at are the gpa and standardized test scores. The colleges look at those things to see how well students learn and adapt to each class.
Colleges know that each teacher has their own style of teaching, and each student has their own way of learning the material. So, the college wants to
see if the student can adjust to each teacher and learn that material. If the student is able to adjust to the teacher and succeed in the class, the higher
the grades will be. The higher the grades are, the better the chance of getting into a nicer college. If students get into a better college, there are more
opportunities at hand, more opportunities for the student to succeed. Students should always follow their passions but in reality, only seven percent of
high school athletes move on to college athletics. And, only two percent of all high school athletes go on to play in Division I athletics (Scholarship
Stats). To conclude, students should uphold a B average or better to participate in after school activities because the better grades one has, the more
opportunities they get from colleges. School and grades opens more doors than any after school club.{{well–supported

Persuasive Essay On School Discipline
School discipline is to ensure that students and the campus staff are safe and peaceful. According to the U.S. Department of Education on Rethinking
Discipline (2017), "Teachers and students deserve school environments that are safe, supportive, and conducive to teaching and learning." The idea is
to decrease bad behavior and school violence which will lead to fewer suspensions and expulsions. There are rules and limitations when it comes to
student discipline; there are acts in which students can and must be disciplined. For examples, if a student quality's for special needs some different
guidelines protect them under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act's (IDEA). Furthermore, the Education Code, Section 48900 was implied
to discipline students who committed any wrongful doing such as attempting or threatening to physical harm another person. In the case f any
wrongfulness, the student is forced to be disciplined by being suspended or expulsed from school.
Early 1970s students in Columbus, Ohio were causing destructions in schools; Central High School in Columbus, Ohio was one of the schools where
students were disrupting class lectures and demonstration school property. This wrongdoing in Ohio allowed the school principal to suspend students
with valid reasons for ten days as long as they notified the parents within 24–hours of suspension. If they were expelled students were given the
opportunity to appeal, but it was not guaranteed that everyone would have that privilege.
About the Case: Goss v. Lopez: Plaintiffs
In the case of Goss v. Lopez, 419 U.S. 565 (1975), the plaintiffs Dwright Lopez, Carl Smith and Betty Crome from Columbus, Ohio were suspended
from Central High School and McGuffey Junior High School for ten days without a hearing. There were nine students including Lopez, Smith and
Crome came together and claimed they were innocent, they denied any misconduct and went to Southern Ohio District Court. They argued that that the
school violated their Fourteenth Amendment rights to due process (hearing). The due process law is related to the Fourteenth Amendment meaning that
each person has ledge rights to have a fair notice and opportunity to be heard before any processing. At the time

Persuasive Essay On Success In School
Being successful in school is a way to leave stress off the shoulders. Having the knowledge that others do not is a good feeling. Getting high scores
and not slacking off makes everyone proud. Education should be the main priority. Even though after college there's no one to guide that person
throughout life. Everyone takes a different route whether it's good or bad. Most of the students become successful in life, but many do not choose to
become successful in life and rather be on the streets doing their thing. Students Education Anaheim school's fail to encourage students. They do not
obligate their students to stay after school. There are many Anaheim schools where they actually treat their students their age. KIPP schools make
students responsible at a certain age. KIPP schools have a way to encourage their students. Anaheim schools scores are not as high perhaps even
lower than what their average is. "Everyone says that KIPP is hard, but once you get the hang of it, it's not really that hard" (13). Anaheim schools
are not equivalent to what KIPP schools are. KIPP schools are a struggle and a success. Anaheim school is just a start of success. Gladwell argues that
summer vacation negatively impact students learning. Low income students show less growth other after the summer. Summer vacation impacts
students learning half the students are not involved in school programs over the summer. Kipp students have a lot of responsibility with school. Kipp
students have summer vacation programs such as tutoring. Anaheim school kids do not show effort put into their work these kids stay up late just to
finish their homework. Half the students in Anaheim schools do not show up with homework done. "What that extra credit time does allow for a
more relaxed atmosphere" (10). A much more relaxed atmosphere is what everyone wants. Spending extra time doing all the work really does pay
off. Another way to improve student's success in Anaheim school is for students to know their ability and effort. "Many people assume that possessing
superior intelligence or ability is a recipe for success" (21). Success can be any accomplishments even if the intelligence matters or not anyone can be
success in many different ways.

Community Service Persuasive Speech
General Purpose: To persuade the audience that community service should be implemented into high school requirements.
INTRODUCTION
Attention Gainer: According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, San Diego's homeless population is the fourth largest in the
United States (Schroeder, 2015).
Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, there are easy steps that we can all take to help this growing problem in our community.
Speaker Credibility (right to inform): I was in an organization called National Charity League which allowed me to volunteer around my community
throughout high school and I have also researched about how beneficial community service can be.
Thesis statement: To persuade the audience that there should be a required amount of hours that a student needs to volunteer before they can graduate
high school.
Preview your Main Points: Many students do not volunteer because it is not a requirement and therefore are uneducated about the benefits of
volunteering. Creating a mandatory amount of hours a student needs to complete will educate students about the benefits of volunteering as well as
benefit their communities.
II. BODY
Main Point # 1 (Problems/Harms) (this should be a full sentence) Many students are not motivated to volunteer and therefore in times of need like right
now, do not know how to help.
Information (sub–point): Volunteering is becoming less common and therefore our communities are not receiving as much support.
In Srebro's article, she states that "volunteer rates have been steadily declining for over a decade" (Srebro, 2016).
Information (sub–point): Because teens are not required to perform community service, many do not get into the habit of volunteering so in effect are
less likely to volunteer in the future.
"Fifty–four percent of adolescents who performed volunteer service in high school volunteered again 2 years later" (Planty & Regnier, 2003).
Information (sub–point): With all the natural disasters occurring across the county whether it be hurricanes or fires. We need volunteers and donations
now more than ever.
TRANSITION STATEMENT: Volunteering is becoming less popular because many people never volunteered when they were young so they did not get

Persuasive Essay On Vocational Education
Have you ever wondered why you couldn't take a class at school that truly interests you, such as learning about the culinary arts or discovering the ins
and outs of being an emergency medical technician? Vocational education is an option that is becoming increasingly popular for students seeking a
wider variety of class choices. Sometimes, when people hear the words "vocational education," a negative image pops into their minds. Many people
believe that vocational education is primarily offered to non–college bound students, dropouts, or students with special needs. What people don't realize
is that vocational education can give students the opportunity to improve their employability skills, become informed about different career options,
and learn helpful skills they can use throughout the rest of their lives even before going to college and being released into the real world. Therefore, I
believe that vocational education should be offered to students.
One of the main reasons vocational education would be a good aspect to bring into the Public School system is that it would bring the importance and
purpose of doing well in school back into students' minds who are struggling in their four years of high school. When asked her opinion on vocational
education a student responded positively saying, "Kids actually have fun taking these courses, and we're not as worried about our grades because
[what we are learning about is] so interesting and we want to learn about it"

Stay in School, Persuasive Essay
To make good money as an adult, you must have a good job. To have a good job, you must get a good education and go to college. To go to college,
you have to go to high school and elementary school. If you drop out or don't go to school at all, you'll go nowhere. Life today, money is everything,
and I think that the foundation of getting a good job is the education you get in the first 20–25 years of your life. School does not only teach subjects
like English, Math, History, or Science, but it also lets us meet new people and build good character. Stay in school, because it will help you meet new
people, build good character, and will also get you to a job that you will love. A lot of jobs in today's society require you to talk to...show more content...
To become trustworthy, you have to work your way up to become trusted by your classmates and/or close friends. If you are good at keeping
secrets, that's one way to know you are trustworthy. But this does not show your employer that you are trustworthy. It's just something that you
can tell your employer to show something about yourself that you are trustworthy. Also, some jobs require resumes in their applications. If you
have been fired in a previous job because of stealing money or just being lazy, other jobs your try to apply for will be hard because they won't be
able to trust you. That's why staying at a good school will help you build the trustworthy, responsible character you'll need to find a job you love.
Loving what you do is something really important because it is something you have to go through until you retire when you're around 65 years
old. It will really be hard to work in a job for over 30 years if you don't enjoy it. For example, if you don't get paid as much as you want and you also
don't enjoy what you do, it could be because of the choices you made in school. If you want what's best for yourself that you know you love and
you are good at, you should take advantage of the education you have before you graduate college. For example, if you know you are good at
biology, and you think it is interesting, going towards the medical field and being a doctor might be the best option for you. If you are good and love
biology but you

Persuasive Essay On Education Reform
Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to realize what their purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain
educational reforms, it has been hard for teachers to say what they need to say. "In 40–plus states, the math and English guidelines determine the
knowledge students have to master by the end of each grade, what they'll be tested on this year, and in many cases, how teachers and principals will
be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released" (Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be
reconsidered. Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, and Common Core State
Standards math and reading are declining. These standards tell teachers what to teach and what the students should know by the end of the school year.
The reforms also evaluate teacher performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people believe educational reforms should not be
telling teachers how to teach their students, and others believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the truth is educational
reforms are yet to be perfected.
One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students throughout the country should all have the same high–quality
standards. Issues and Controversies states,"All states should adhere to similar academic standards so that American youth are

Persuasive Essay On After School Programs
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child's life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during
that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in
afterschool programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical
health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future. Generally,
after school programs are ran by schools, faith–based, or community–based nonprofit organizations. Most programs are held directly after school, but
can also be held on weekends, over breaks or vacations, or on evenings. It is important to define what the purpose of the program is going to be,
whether it be academics, sports, special interests, or cultural activities. Some other key factors of an after school program are high levels of children
involvement, a mix of academic and non academic skill building activities, and positive relationships between staff and children. Successful programs
have dedicated staff and structured routines for the children. When after school programs are ran successfully, the children involved will receive
positive benefits and skills they will be able to use to better their future. In communities today, 11.3 million children take care of

Persuasive Essay About Sports In High School
American high schools are bound to have plenty of sports for all students to play. So why not pick a sport to play in high school? The reader will

higher grades. By playing sports, students will be able to make more friends and enjoy school more. Lastly, if students were to be able to get a sports

their school work. According to the video Sports How Much is Too Much, "playing multiple sports seem to have a positive effect on their grades."
This shows that high school sports are not a distraction, but a way to get better grades in school. While students are playing high school sports, they'll

Persuasive Essay On STEM Education
Everyone wants what is best for their children, right? If that is true, then schools need to start preparing their students for the challenges they will meet
in college and the skills to overcome them. This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle
and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary
for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is
being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our
human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According
to former President Barack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the
world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math). Here, former President Obama is talking about how important science is as more than just a school subject; science can be
taken out of school and used to impact many people and change the world. Some may say that there have been other fields in history that became very

A high–quality and accessible education is important for all children. Through education, children gain knowledge and skills that can lead to greater

Inclusion
A classroom where everyone has access, is not necessarily a classroom where everyone feels included. In order to create an inclusive environment, the
teacher should assure that all students feel included and understood. Diversity should be valued in the classroom and this starts with the attitude of the
teacher. When students come from a different backgrounds, the teacher should learn about their cultures and integrate that knowledge into the learning
environment. The teacher should also strive to foster acceptance and value in classroom diversity among students.
Resources
Students shouldn't suffer because they are unable to afford basic resources needed for school. If a parent is unable to provide the student with what they
need, I would have available extra supplies including, notebooks, binders, and pens on hand for student use. Additionally, I think it's important to
acknowledge that sometimes the resources students are lacking stretch beyond the walls of the classroom. The problem might be as simple as not
getting breakfast in the morning, or as complicated as not having a place to live. Obviously, as teachers we probably have the ability to fix the first one
(free school breakfast application help), but not the later. We can, however, be empathetic to a student's situation and treat them with understanding
instead of frustration.

Persuasive Essay On The Education System
Every student is bound to cheat at one point during their educational career. The reason why is to get a higher grade. Educational Institutions value
high grades rather than to value learning, that is what turns students to cheat. Students are taught on how to take tests not learn about the material. But
that is to name one of the many factors that cause the current education system to fail. Therefore, students are not getting the highest quality of
education possible that is essentially the goal of every educational institution.
Standardized testing is excessive and does not represent how much a student has learned, not only it puts pressure on students it also puts pressure on
teachers. On top of standardized testing, a lot of schools are overcrowded thus decreases the attention that is needed for each student in order to
succeed. Not only there is a problem with testing and classroom sizes, teachers also are not well educated and prepared for the expectations made by
larger classroom sizes and the pressure to educate students so that they can achieve high test scores. To further acknowledge the flaws of the current
education system, institutions should not only gauge a student's academic achievement through their grades, it should also be through progress
throughout a broader lifespan. Grades and standardized tests only capture a frame on this lifespan therefore academic achievement should also be
measured through the improvement and progress of a student's learning.

Persuasive Essay On High School Field Trips

  • 1. Persuasive Essay On High School Field Trips Field trips are a good way to spend the school districts money because it gives time for students to get a break from school work and tests. Students get to learn new things by going to field trips. Some field trips help the students understand better the subject they are learning about. When the school takes you to a field trip for your history class to a museum you get to learn more about the past and the things that people we didn't know have been through in a way that we don't just take notes. When younger students hear about going to a field trip they get excited because they get to go see new things about science and history that they don't really learn about. For the highschool students most field trips are usually about see colleges. This gives the students a chance to see what there choices are before becoming a senior or if they are seniors to help them make a right decision once they got the information on the schools they are more interested in going to or planning to go to. Yes it might be a little more work for the teachers to figure out transportation and get accepted to the place they want to go. It does take time from the teacher doing there own work but it gives students and teachers to see what they are teaching or learning by seeing it by real or explained pictures of what happened and what the people back then might have discovered. It might be more money for the district to spend but it is for educational reasons. Instead of the district spending it on things they might not need. Field trips to go see colleges gives a better understanding and input of the things or classes that the students will need for the career field they are thinking of doing. Ramao states, "Fourth and fifth graders should see colleges and universities, middle school students are meant to learn more about art or science on their trips and highschool students should visit places that teach them about their academy's area of focus"(Lillian Monegeau) . In middle school I had field trips to colleges and to go see art performances. I was very excited to see how people express feelings or situations through dance. It was a fun experience I had. Going to see colleges in eighth grade and sixth grade gave me a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Online Classes Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay About High School Starting school when you're four years old changes tremendously to when you're seventeen or eighteen. There are a few things about school that remain the same, but many more changes are made throughout the years. Gradually homework gets harder and more complex, teachers change, different activities are added, and much more. Elementary is just the base of what your life will be like in the future. High School prepares you more for the rest of your life and is when you individually get to have options and decisions to make. Elementary school consists of learning vocabulary (words), making friends, basic math, and playing outside for recess. The classes you take in Elementary are mandatory. You have to take Math, Science, Language Arts, P.E., Music, Social Studies, Art, and Reading without have a choice on which class to take. There are no complex levels of classes that you can take. Everyone is in the same class and it's usually with the same teacher. For example, your third grade teacher would teach all your classes to you and you would stay in the same room for almost the whole day besides for Art, Music, and P.E. There are normally three teachers for each grade which means your entire grade would be split up into three groups and those are the groups you'll be with the whole year. Recess and lunch was the only times you could see your other friends that are in your grade. Everyone in first through sixth grade do not have any classes together, it is strictly grade by Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Education In School Education is a crucial aspect of people's lives. In the United States and numerous other countries, we are reminded throughout our twelve years of mandatory schooling that we must do well so that we can get into a good college, achieve a degree, and then lead an accomplished and fulfilling career. Despite the fact that this idea is drilled into our heads from a very young age, our system of education does not provide each child with the same amount of support and encouragement. A vast number of black children are penalized for simply wearing their hair in its natural state. There have been numerous instances in which black children are threatened with detention, suspension, and even expulsion if they refused to change their hairstyle into ...show more content... Deanna and Mya Cook are two adopted twin sisters from Massachusetts who faced similar discrimination for their hairstyles. The twin girls went to school with freshly done box braids and were told that their new style did not coincide with their school's dress code. These girls faced several harsh punishments like being unable to attend prom, being unable to attend their graduation, and the twins were even told that they would be thrown out of school if they did not change their hair. When an eight–year–old third–grader wore her hair styled in a "frohawk", a popular style that combines an afro and a mohawk, for school at Tarver Elementary in Belton, Texas she was pulled out of class. The school's justification for this decision was by alleging that the eight–year–old girl's hairstyle was not in accordance with the school's dress code policy, however, mohawks, the exact same style sans the afro–textured hair, is allowed. The testimonies of these girls and their parents are obvious acts of resistance. Their stories made headlines and people across the country know who they are and how they were wronged. Rather than enduring the unjust punishments and accepting their circumstances they spoke up. They used their voices and projected them loudly through social media. They were able to utilize their platforms so that they oppose the prejudice. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Motivation for High School Students Essay 1 Milestone3: Motivation for High School Students Sharon Robinson Walden University 2 Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Some feel that classes are boring and frustrating and a waste of time and energy. Why do students of today feel this way?...show more content... Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting. Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be. As acknowledge in the article "How to Motivate High School Students," "By allowing students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in a way

  • 7. Persuasive Essay : Should Teenagers Get Jobs Less than 3 in 10 teenagers hold jobs during the summer, and this number has been on a sharp decrease since 2000 (Yen 1). This decrease is because teenagers are handed everything now, meaning don't need to work for it themselves; and because employers aren't hiring. This is an extremely low amount, because all teenagers should get jobs, in order to learn many life skills, respect, and be able to support themselves. Everyone has thought about getting a job, even if they do not have one, and the argument of whether or not teenagers should get jobs or not, is a very controversial issue. The biggest issue people see with teenagers getting jobs is that it will affect grades and participation at school, which can be true, but the key to anything is to make sure that it is done in moderation. Obviously it is true that if there is a teenager trying to work five days a week, and balance school, they will most likely struggle in school. This is especially true if they work long hours. On the other hand, if they only work for three days a week, and only a few hours each day, they can get the benefits of having a job as a teenager, and still be able to focus in school. Experts even say that having a summer job can help prevent the "educational backsliding that happens between school years for high school students" (Belsner 1), which is something that many students struggle with, because unless students study over the summer, they usually forget some of the things they learned the year Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 9. Persuasive Letter Sample Dear Editor, High School is a very difficult and confusing time for most teenagers. Trying to balance schoolwork, family, social life, sports, etc., is very tricky. But learning to balance all of those things is what makes high school important. It sets the students up for life after high school. It teaches students very important life lessons that they will hopefully take into their lives after high school. High school is about turning into a well rounded person by doing well in school as well as balancing the time for other activities. That is why I agree{{remove I statements}} that in order to take place in after school activities, the students must achieve a B average or above; because students should learn to be well–rounded while still...show more content... In school students getting good grades will help them get into better colleges. Yes, colleges do look for well–rounded students, but the first things that colleges look at are the gpa and standardized test scores. The colleges look at those things to see how well students learn and adapt to each class. Colleges know that each teacher has their own style of teaching, and each student has their own way of learning the material. So, the college wants to see if the student can adjust to each teacher and learn that material. If the student is able to adjust to the teacher and succeed in the class, the higher the grades will be. The higher the grades are, the better the chance of getting into a nicer college. If students get into a better college, there are more opportunities at hand, more opportunities for the student to succeed. Students should always follow their passions but in reality, only seven percent of high school athletes move on to college athletics. And, only two percent of all high school athletes go on to play in Division I athletics (Scholarship Stats). To conclude, students should uphold a B average or better to participate in after school activities because the better grades one has, the more opportunities they get from colleges. School and grades opens more doors than any after school club.{{well–supported Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On School Discipline School discipline is to ensure that students and the campus staff are safe and peaceful. According to the U.S. Department of Education on Rethinking Discipline (2017), "Teachers and students deserve school environments that are safe, supportive, and conducive to teaching and learning." The idea is to decrease bad behavior and school violence which will lead to fewer suspensions and expulsions. There are rules and limitations when it comes to student discipline; there are acts in which students can and must be disciplined. For examples, if a student quality's for special needs some different guidelines protect them under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act's (IDEA). Furthermore, the Education Code, Section 48900 was implied to discipline students who committed any wrongful doing such as attempting or threatening to physical harm another person. In the case f any wrongfulness, the student is forced to be disciplined by being suspended or expulsed from school. Early 1970s students in Columbus, Ohio were causing destructions in schools; Central High School in Columbus, Ohio was one of the schools where students were disrupting class lectures and demonstration school property. This wrongdoing in Ohio allowed the school principal to suspend students with valid reasons for ten days as long as they notified the parents within 24–hours of suspension. If they were expelled students were given the opportunity to appeal, but it was not guaranteed that everyone would have that privilege. About the Case: Goss v. Lopez: Plaintiffs In the case of Goss v. Lopez, 419 U.S. 565 (1975), the plaintiffs Dwright Lopez, Carl Smith and Betty Crome from Columbus, Ohio were suspended from Central High School and McGuffey Junior High School for ten days without a hearing. There were nine students including Lopez, Smith and Crome came together and claimed they were innocent, they denied any misconduct and went to Southern Ohio District Court. They argued that that the school violated their Fourteenth Amendment rights to due process (hearing). The due process law is related to the Fourteenth Amendment meaning that each person has ledge rights to have a fair notice and opportunity to be heard before any processing. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Success In School Being successful in school is a way to leave stress off the shoulders. Having the knowledge that others do not is a good feeling. Getting high scores and not slacking off makes everyone proud. Education should be the main priority. Even though after college there's no one to guide that person throughout life. Everyone takes a different route whether it's good or bad. Most of the students become successful in life, but many do not choose to become successful in life and rather be on the streets doing their thing. Students Education Anaheim school's fail to encourage students. They do not obligate their students to stay after school. There are many Anaheim schools where they actually treat their students their age. KIPP schools make students responsible at a certain age. KIPP schools have a way to encourage their students. Anaheim schools scores are not as high perhaps even lower than what their average is. "Everyone says that KIPP is hard, but once you get the hang of it, it's not really that hard" (13). Anaheim schools are not equivalent to what KIPP schools are. KIPP schools are a struggle and a success. Anaheim school is just a start of success. Gladwell argues that summer vacation negatively impact students learning. Low income students show less growth other after the summer. Summer vacation impacts students learning half the students are not involved in school programs over the summer. Kipp students have a lot of responsibility with school. Kipp students have summer vacation programs such as tutoring. Anaheim school kids do not show effort put into their work these kids stay up late just to finish their homework. Half the students in Anaheim schools do not show up with homework done. "What that extra credit time does allow for a more relaxed atmosphere" (10). A much more relaxed atmosphere is what everyone wants. Spending extra time doing all the work really does pay off. Another way to improve student's success in Anaheim school is for students to know their ability and effort. "Many people assume that possessing superior intelligence or ability is a recipe for success" (21). Success can be any accomplishments even if the intelligence matters or not anyone can be success in many different ways. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Community Service Persuasive Speech General Purpose: To persuade the audience that community service should be implemented into high school requirements. INTRODUCTION Attention Gainer: According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, San Diego's homeless population is the fourth largest in the United States (Schroeder, 2015). Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, there are easy steps that we can all take to help this growing problem in our community. Speaker Credibility (right to inform): I was in an organization called National Charity League which allowed me to volunteer around my community throughout high school and I have also researched about how beneficial community service can be. Thesis statement: To persuade the audience that there should be a required amount of hours that a student needs to volunteer before they can graduate high school. Preview your Main Points: Many students do not volunteer because it is not a requirement and therefore are uneducated about the benefits of volunteering. Creating a mandatory amount of hours a student needs to complete will educate students about the benefits of volunteering as well as benefit their communities. II. BODY Main Point # 1 (Problems/Harms) (this should be a full sentence) Many students are not motivated to volunteer and therefore in times of need like right now, do not know how to help. Information (sub–point): Volunteering is becoming less common and therefore our communities are not receiving as much support. In Srebro's article, she states that "volunteer rates have been steadily declining for over a decade" (Srebro, 2016). Information (sub–point): Because teens are not required to perform community service, many do not get into the habit of volunteering so in effect are less likely to volunteer in the future. "Fifty–four percent of adolescents who performed volunteer service in high school volunteered again 2 years later" (Planty & Regnier, 2003). Information (sub–point): With all the natural disasters occurring across the county whether it be hurricanes or fires. We need volunteers and donations now more than ever. TRANSITION STATEMENT: Volunteering is becoming less popular because many people never volunteered when they were young so they did not get

  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Vocational Education Have you ever wondered why you couldn't take a class at school that truly interests you, such as learning about the culinary arts or discovering the ins and outs of being an emergency medical technician? Vocational education is an option that is becoming increasingly popular for students seeking a wider variety of class choices. Sometimes, when people hear the words "vocational education," a negative image pops into their minds. Many people believe that vocational education is primarily offered to non–college bound students, dropouts, or students with special needs. What people don't realize is that vocational education can give students the opportunity to improve their employability skills, become informed about different career options, and learn helpful skills they can use throughout the rest of their lives even before going to college and being released into the real world. Therefore, I believe that vocational education should be offered to students. One of the main reasons vocational education would be a good aspect to bring into the Public School system is that it would bring the importance and purpose of doing well in school back into students' minds who are struggling in their four years of high school. When asked her opinion on vocational education a student responded positively saying, "Kids actually have fun taking these courses, and we're not as worried about our grades because [what we are learning about is] so interesting and we want to learn about it" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Stay in School, Persuasive Essay To make good money as an adult, you must have a good job. To have a good job, you must get a good education and go to college. To go to college, you have to go to high school and elementary school. If you drop out or don't go to school at all, you'll go nowhere. Life today, money is everything, and I think that the foundation of getting a good job is the education you get in the first 20–25 years of your life. School does not only teach subjects like English, Math, History, or Science, but it also lets us meet new people and build good character. Stay in school, because it will help you meet new people, build good character, and will also get you to a job that you will love. A lot of jobs in today's society require you to talk to...show more content... To become trustworthy, you have to work your way up to become trusted by your classmates and/or close friends. If you are good at keeping secrets, that's one way to know you are trustworthy. But this does not show your employer that you are trustworthy. It's just something that you can tell your employer to show something about yourself that you are trustworthy. Also, some jobs require resumes in their applications. If you have been fired in a previous job because of stealing money or just being lazy, other jobs your try to apply for will be hard because they won't be able to trust you. That's why staying at a good school will help you build the trustworthy, responsible character you'll need to find a job you love. Loving what you do is something really important because it is something you have to go through until you retire when you're around 65 years old. It will really be hard to work in a job for over 30 years if you don't enjoy it. For example, if you don't get paid as much as you want and you also don't enjoy what you do, it could be because of the choices you made in school. If you want what's best for yourself that you know you love and you are good at, you should take advantage of the education you have before you graduate college. For example, if you know you are good at biology, and you think it is interesting, going towards the medical field and being a doctor might be the best option for you. If you are good and love biology but you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Persuasive Essay On Education Reform Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to realize what their purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain educational reforms, it has been hard for teachers to say what they need to say. "In 40–plus states, the math and English guidelines determine the knowledge students have to master by the end of each grade, what they'll be tested on this year, and in many cases, how teachers and principals will be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released" (Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be reconsidered. Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, and Common Core State Standards math and reading are declining. These standards tell teachers what to teach and what the students should know by the end of the school year. The reforms also evaluate teacher performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people believe educational reforms should not be telling teachers how to teach their students, and others believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the truth is educational reforms are yet to be perfected. One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students throughout the country should all have the same high–quality standards. • 17. Persuasive Essay On After School Programs After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child's life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in afterschool programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future. Generally, after school programs are ran by schools, faith–based, or community–based nonprofit organizations. Most programs are held directly after school, but can also be held on weekends, over breaks or vacations, or on evenings. It is important to define what the purpose of the program is going to be, whether it be academics, sports, special interests, or cultural activities. Some other key factors of an after school program are high levels of children involvement, a mix of academic and non academic skill building activities, and positive relationships between staff and children. Successful programs have dedicated staff and structured routines for the children. When after school programs are ran successfully, the children involved will receive positive benefits and skills they will be able to use to better their future. In communities today, 11.3 million children take care of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This is best done through the presence of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in middle and high schools. Through Wisconsin schools furthering their focus on STEM with extracurriculars, students will gain vital skills that are necessary for human progression, problem–solving and time management skills that can be used in real life, and the students learn how they can apply what is being taught in the classroom to real obstacles and challenges. It is clear that STEM is a rapidly growing and advancing field that is needed for our human progression. There are so many different professions that fall under STEM education and many of them impact the world every day. According to former President Barack Obama "[Science] is more than a school subject, or the periodic table, or the properties of waves. It is an approach to the world, a critical way to understand and explore and engage with the world, and then have the capacity to change that world" (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Diversity should be valued in the classroom and this starts with the attitude of the teacher. When students come from a different backgrounds, the teacher should learn about their cultures and integrate that knowledge into the learning environment. The teacher should also strive to foster acceptance and value in classroom diversity among students. Resources Students shouldn't suffer because they are unable to afford basic resources needed for school. If a parent is unable to provide the student with what they need, I would have available extra supplies including, notebooks, binders, and pens on hand for student use. Additionally, I think it's important to acknowledge that sometimes the resources students are lacking stretch beyond the walls of the classroom. • 22. Persuasive Essay On The Education System Every student is bound to cheat at one point during their educational career. The reason why is to get a higher grade. Educational Institutions value high grades rather than to value learning, that is what turns students to cheat. Students are taught on how to take tests not learn about the material. But that is to name one of the many factors that cause the current education system to fail. Therefore, students are not getting the highest quality of education possible that is essentially the goal of every educational institution. Standardized testing is excessive and does not represent how much a student has learned, not only it puts pressure on students it also puts pressure on teachers. On top of standardized testing, a lot of schools are overcrowded thus decreases the attention that is needed for each student in order to succeed. Not only there is a problem with testing and classroom sizes, teachers also are not well educated and prepared for the expectations made by larger classroom sizes and the pressure to educate students so that they can achieve high test scores. To further acknowledge the flaws of the current education system, institutions should not only gauge a student's academic achievement through their grades, it should also be through progress throughout a broader lifespan. Grades and standardized tests only capture a frame on this lifespan therefore academic achievement should also be measured through the improvement and progress of a student's learning.
