10 Paradoxes Of Government
1. 10 Paradoxes Of Government
I wouldn't say the president is set up in most situations for failure however there are many instances in which the president makes a tough choice or
find himself in a lose lose kind of situation so to speak. There are the 10 paradoxes that I will refer to in this essay that state some of the wants and
needs of the citizen however, complaining about too much power instilled in one person. The first paradox that I will refer to is number eight on the
list and number one in my opinion of importance. For example, number eight on the list states "What it takes to become president may not be what is
needed to govern the nation." By this I mean charming United States, winning certain states, or telling the people what they want to hear. Charm does

People took this course of action as demand of power and an abuse of presidential orders from the very beginning. Those orders may or may not
have strongly kicked of solving the nations beginning problems. This is where the paradox falls due to the fact of contradicting wants and needs.
There are many contradicting issues and choices as the chief in command of a country, the president must make. However, there are harsh choices
and certain measures taken in order for the well being of this country weather they are supported or not by the people. Nobody truly understands the
stress places on the president until they spend a day in his position. No matter the call though, the president has to live with the consequences from
all sides and stand behind them for the well being of this country. I know if I were in any position, in which decision making was that serious, I
would not be able to hold it together such as our president has done so far. It takes a strong individual who does not fall short of having strong core
values or fall quick to

If I Were President
Introduction
Raising NASA's budget could change the future for the entire population of Earth. If I were to be president, I would bump up NASA's finances to
help them find more planets in outer space. More money would allow NASA to try to find new species that have never been seen before. Also, if a new
planet is found that could inhabit humans and other species, then maybe we could send criminals there. Then here on Earth, we would have a more
peaceful life. NASA needs more money that can help pay for more useful and newer technology to find another planet. Bringing up NASA's budget
could lead to marvelous studies and programs. For example, we would be able to find new species that have never been seen before. Another...show

Sending Criminals to A Different Planet
The second switch I would make would be to lift up NASA's funds to discover other planets where we could send criminals. Thus, by doing this it
could make our nation more peaceful. By sending criminals away to a different planet we would not need jails. This could lead to more housing,
playgrounds, even a place for more buildings to help get jobs to unemployed people. Additionally, we could send people to another planet if they
intend to do crummy and sinful things to people and animals. If we are able to get all malicious people off of Earth, then we would not have to
worry about being hurt by the stranger next to us. Living our lives without worrying about being hurt or killed could change the way people live their
lives. This would be an effective change that I would make if I were to be President.
New Planet Found
Above all, the third adjustment that would happen if NASA's budget was raised, would result in making newer and more efficient technology to help
them find a new planet. Recently, at NASA's Space Telescope, astronomers had found the first Earth–size planet orbiting a star in the "habitable zone.
"While planets had been found before, they are all at least 40 percent larger in size than Earth and understanding their makeup is challenging. The new
planet orbits its star once every 130–days and can only receive

The strongest example of my leadership and community involvement has been my service to my high school through Student Senate as the Student
Body President. In this position I have been responsible for planning and coordinating events, running weekly morning meetings, giving speeches,
communicating between my advisors and councilmen, and being an active leader in and out of the classroom. I've learned a lot about people while
in this position, I have found a way to work with other people and their needs, as well as becoming a very effective communicator, and a great team

4. Vice President Essay
Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen,
First and foremost, thank you for being here in support of the student government association. I want to thank our amazing dean Edina for
encouraging me to run for vice president of SGA. Many people have asked me why I am running for vice president. Would you ask a fifth grader if he
is going to go to the 6th grade? No right because they have to keep going to the next level. Ever since I came to the University of Bridgeport, I
constantly looked for ways to become more involved and to keep having an impact in the university. Every year, here at the University of Bridgeport
I am involved in something new. Whether it's being an OL, President of a Club or even starting a chapter/club which is known as the food recovery
network, with the help of my peers. The food recovery network have recovered more than 300 pounds of food that would otherwise have been thrown
out.
My last involvement with SGA was when I was a senator. As a senator, I held various town halls that had a high number of participants from students
and teachers. I engaged the students in various topics in those town halls, such as what we could do to make the school of business better? How we
can implement what we learned in...show more content...

student body to the right authorities. That candidate ladies and gentlemen, is me. Since my freshman year, I fell in love with UB but I mostly fell in
love with what UB can one day be. I am constantly sitting down with Edina, the provost, and even sometime president solyen to discuss how we can
better UB and how we can increase the retention rate and build the school spirit that we sometimes lack and help students make the best out of their

5. Becoming President Essay
Do you know what it takes to become president of the United States? Sure, you need to be a citizen and at least be 35 years old, but there are other
characteristics that you must have in order to hold this powerful position and make urgent or important decisions for the good of our nation. Do you
think you have what it takes to be elected as president of this country? The first two traits that I think are important to become the leader of this
democracy would have to be honesty and trustworthiness. Think about it for a minute, our lives and the lives of others are put into the president's
hands everyday. We trust him with the verdicts he makes for our behalf. With being left in charge of the government also comes with being honest and
learning to gain trust. A president who lies, cheats, and deceives should not be called a president at all. For people like that, the term "president"...show

People have different opinions and views on some of the topics that bills have had within them but were passed anyway, whether we agree with it or
not. A once popular topic, the Confederate Flag, was a very controversial subject just last year in 2015. It came about after a man shot up a church in
Charleston, South Carolina, after he went on a tangent about race and moreover with emblems of white supremacy as well as the flag. This made the
whole country go into an uproar about getting rid of it because some southern states said that it was part of their history. I am pretty sure when the law
was passed to ban the flag, the president probably thought it was asinine and ludicrous. He kept an open mind, though, about how some people would
react. With that being said, this trait can turn close–minded people into ones who will accept different ideas, other than the thoughts of their own

John didn't waste any time when he got into the White House, he had specific goals to accomplish and he wasn't going to let anything stand in his
way. The circumstances that presented his opportunity would be the Civil War, some sort of resolution had to come out of it and Johnson tried to
make that happen. The use of the Presidential Power was a big issue, it seems as though Congress and President Johnson were sort of going back and
forth with cheap shots. Whenever Johnson would have a novel idea, Congress would find a way to put it down. I believe it impacted the Country in a
positive way because if Congress wouldn't have made various laws or amendments, Johnson would have been able to do whatever his heart desired
which wasn't the entire right thing.
Three Major Achievements The most valuable achievement of President Johnson was the acquisition of Alaska on March 30th of 1867. Secretary of
the State, William Seward bought Alaska from Russia for seven million dollars. This negotiation with Russia wasn't easy and took a lot of effort, time
and money. Another major achievement that Johnson performed was the Reconstruction after the Civil War and abolishing slavery in the south. He
added to our Constitution, the 13th amendment which would abolish slavery and the 14th amendment for equal protection of all citizens. Andrew
Johnson didn't have too

Running for president can be a long, stressful, controversial, and emotional process. Now imagine finally winning the presidential election only to
have your opposing candidate to automatically become your vice president. This may sound beneficial and not pose a threat if both of the candidates
are on the same party, but it can be a disaster if the opposing candidate is on the opposite party. As unlikely as it sounds, this scenario actually
happened in the election of 1800, which caused a change of heart in congress to come up with and propose the twelfth amendment.

9. What Makes a Good President?
In my opinion, there are multiple qualifications for a person to become a president. Someone who is a president holds a lot of power in their
hands. Therefore, it is very important that they are knowledgeable and a reliable candidate. Whether you like a specific candidate or don't like
either, your vote is a vote and it counts toward who is going to be making your country 's laws, so take it seriously. Below, I am going to explain
some qualities a president must have in order to be successful.
A qualification I believe is important, is that they have experience in the field of politics. To me, whether the president has a political background or
not, does play a role in if they are going to be a successful politician. In my opinion, what is important is they have already learned from their
mistakes and are heading in the right direction, not just from scratch. To me, I find it hard to believe that many people would be able to trust someone
with less or no experience at all. All in all, an important qualification a candidate should have is that they 've had previous involvements in politics
within their lifetime. Once again, the reason experience is important in this position is to establish trust with the people.
An attribute I believe a president must hold are leadership skills. This is by far the biggest qualification they must have. It is necessary for the
candidate to be able to take action in certain situations as well as work well with others to make the correct

If I was eighteen and could vote for a presidential candidate I would vote for Hillary Clinton because I think she will be a good commander in chief
unlike Trump is not a well–tempered man. I would not vote for Trump because on his Twitter page he said that all Africans need to go back to
Africa. I find this very disrespectful not only that he disrespects women. I think even though Hillary Clinton is a liar that she will be better than
Trump because Trump gets angry really fast. Hillary is a woman and when women get mad over things that don't go their way they cause trouble or
drama which we don't need with other countries. I am not certain about Hillary being commander in chief or anything because her husband has been
president and I feel that he will be making decisions for her. I would also vote for Hillary because Donald is rude and disrespectful to women. He calls

she took money from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman, and Yemen. As soon as her run for president became official Republicans wanted to attack her
which would not have been good for the US because the US does not need to be in war. I would most definitely vote for Hillary Clinton because she is
coming up with solutions for the United States issue instead of being like Trump being be lazy and hurtful to others. If Hillary does become president I
expect two out of three promises to be kept. If those two promises are not kept then I will know that she is a liar. Hopefully, if she does become
president she will make the US a better and safe place to live or prosper without

As a future dentist, I will have the responsibility to keep learning and collaborating with others in the health field, in order to improve my service for

Although I seem to be a confident person, I occasionally have doubts in my competencies. I understand that as a future dentist, I have to have faith in
myself, for patients to trust me. To make myself a more confident person, I have actively participated in activities such asstudent clubs and
volunteering. Gradually I have come to an understanding that confidence is not only a personality, but also a competency. When running a student
club, if I don't reach out for help and cooperate with others with confidence, I will not be as successful. When volunteering, if I don't stand out to

If I had the chance to speak to Mr. Donald Trump, the president himself, I would ask him so many questions. I have planned out what I would ask a
president, or any famous figure for that matter, already. It might seem strange but I like planning for things I wouldn't think would happen because
you always got to expect the unexpected, right? The question I would ask him first is if he liked being the president. It might be a crazy question
because being the president seems pretty cool, until you grow up, at least in my case, but you never know just because someone is president doesn't
mean they necessarily like the job. As a kid I always thought the president was pretty much a king and could do whatever they wanted to and rule the

don't want to make the country mad and revolt, which is probably very unlikely, but when you tie in all those factors it makes wanting to be the
president not so fun anymore. It has to be a very hard job and I would like to know how someone like Trump handle all of that pressure. It must be

Presidency
Although it is often said that the President of the United States holds the most powerful office in the world, this does not mean that he is able to decide
very much for himself. The American Constitution, which was adapted in 1789, clearly states the Separation of Powers. Thus, the president makes up
only one third of the government, namely the executive branch. He is also controlled by a complex system of checks and balances, which makes sure
that he (or any of the other branches, for that matter) does not become too powerful. We will now have a look at the different problems which may be
facing a recently elected president, and then discuss to what extent his powers are important.
The first and foremost problem is...show more content...
Congress is of course often the most serious problem to a new president. It is after all the legislative branch of government, and passes both ordinary
and tax bills. Another important element worth mentioning here, is the huge amount of lobbying which goes on in America. Private associations and
companies, that officially do not have any power, gain a lot of influence through the "persuasion" of congressmen(and women) or/and senators. One
example is the National Rifle Association (NRA), which has so far succeeded in destroying any attempt to introduce gun control in America. Another
one is how the powerful insurance companies helped to kill President Clinton's welfare reform a couple of years ago.
In the US system of checks and balances, the Supreme Court is also very powerful. They are able to create a lot of trouble for the president if they
want to, as they have the so–called power of judicial review. This means that they can declare any law or presidential act unconstitutional. The Supreme
Court Justices are appointed for life, and the president has therefore no means of controlling them, unless they resign voluntarily or die. The balance
between liberal and conservative justices here, is therefore of course subject to a lot of interest, and the president has good reasons in maintaining a
harmonious relation to the Supreme Court.
In addition to the different branches of government, there is another aspect of

Executive Privilege gives the President of the United States and his staff in the executive office the right to withhold information from the judicial
branch of Government; it also allows the president and his advisors the power to keep information from Congress and the public. Presidential
power has always been an extremely controversial matter because it is never mentioned in the United States Constitution as a right; but the process
to actually exercise the use of executive privilege and of the official choices leading to make it clear that this in fact is a genuine presidential power
as long as it is used correctly has been challenging. The President and his staff need to have plans and events that need to be kept in private, but the
question of whether or not withholding this important information from Congress, courts and the public is beneficial to the country as a whole.
Generally there are four areas that executive privilege is based on: ongoing law enforcement investigations, presidential communications, national
security, foreign affairs and or military affairs and finally thought through process. Presidents have always said that the implied principle of
executive privilege is mandated through the separation of powers. Presidents also have said that in order to do their jobs correctly and to get the
advice needed from all their advisors; their advisors are not willing to give advice if their advice can be used against them in anyway. The term

In any presidential election, it is important to take the characteristics of each candidate into consideration in order to determine who is most
qualified for the title "president of the United States". Being a president of a country comes with a great deal of responsibility. A president is
required to make appearances, present speeches, be involved in foreign affairs, help make military decisions, and serve as a representative of the
nation as a whole. To be a good president, one must be able to present their arguments eloquently with sufficient evidence provided to support their

A president with a humble heart would be less likely to become corrupt with power. Since the president's decisions affect theUnited States citizens as a

would bring forth the best result. An open mind, a strong sense of diplomacy, honesty, and accountability are also important factors of a good
president. Diplomacy is necessary to be able to come to a compromise with an opponent by understanding and using some of the opponent's proposed
ideas to find a middle ground. Presidential candidate Donald Trump does not fit the characteristics a good president should have because of his lack of
