Argumentative Essay On Technology
Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about
computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are
willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early
1940's. According to Spicer, the firstcomputer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer,
Konrad Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a
bombing in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special
education classes. Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that "Teaching physical education
can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students
engaged." He later then stated that "To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to
technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a wide range of fitness
levels." Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate
monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is.
When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad,
and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology exploded, it was hard to
record much of the information we are able to record and chart with technology today. With nearly
100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet, many classes

Argumentative Research Essay Rough Draft
Recently I started thinking about if phones were affecting our brains and "More than 40 percent (of
people) predicted a negative outcome: The young wired brains will be easily distracted and move
away from deep–thinking capabilities and face to face social skills." (Murphy) Technology is
causing major problems in society.Although most people believe that advancements in technology
are beneficial to society, the overuse of technology has hindered newer generations because it causes
us to be unhealthy, limits the need to think for oneself, and presents distractions that take away from
conversation and education.
Technology is effecting people in a way no one understands and this should help you understand
the what, where, when, why, and how of it all. 20 years ago society was promoting cigarettes and
unhealthy food because they didnt understand how it was bad for you and now everyone is
promoting technology but maybe in 20 more years well realize it isnt healthy to be so connected.
("How Is...") Cigarettes are so unhealthy for people and so is certain food like processed foods,
trans fat, and processed meat, people didnt know that 20 years ago though. We are constantly
growing and inventing and not thinking about how it effects us. So are we going to soon realize
how technology and cell phones are really effecting us. I found this research and it shows how
technology effects our brains "The brain develops based on how it's used. Texting

Argumentative Essay On Technology
Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two
or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your
accounts on your thumb–nail. –– Henry David Thoreau
The invention of technology has impacted our lives so greatly that even the thought of it being
taken away from us brings us fear. Our entire society developed around technology and we've
become so dependent on it. The attention presented to us by social media sites has become so
important to us that nothing else matters. All that matters for people are the amount of likes they
get or if they're following the latest trends. Technology has become everything for us. Anything we
need or want can easily be accessible by the touch of a finger. We've not only advanced with
technology, but also been corrupted by its power.
Individuals in our society rely on technology so greatly that we've lost our ability to survive. Our
weakness is the internet and everything that connects to it. When the internet's gone we lose our
minds and when our phone battery dies we feel a part of ourself die. We can't even remember the
phone number of our friends because of our dependence on phones. Technology has also affected
our ability to work. Chaine Kirschner states, "I was sent home one day at my last job because the
Internet was down." (Kirschner.) Jobs have incorporated technology into the workplace causing us
to dependent on it even for work. However, if anything goes wrong we are left to do nothing but
wait for the technical issues to get resolved. Teachers, for example, create assignments and teach
through technology, but when technology decides to fail on them they are forced to create
everything from scratch. We work on our computers, we call on our phones, and we put our success
in the hands of technology. We've even caused children to be attached to technology. This
generation's children prioritize playing video games all day over exploring the outdoors. Humans
have become like dogs on a leash. Technology has consumed us and we just obey.
Technology hasn't made life any simpler for humanity. Instead it's swallowed us up into a dark
abyss. Social media has captured

Today's world is ran by technology; everywhere you go it's used or is being talked about. In today's
society it is as if the world can not function without technology, especially teens, because they need to
technology the most. Technology acts as computers, cell phones, tablets, laptops etc. With society
being slaves to technology, it hinders the full social aspect of communication. Teens use technology
to get on the internet, social media, take pictures and they use this source to communicate in
different aspects.Almost 80% about youngsters check their phones hourly; 72% feel the compelling
reason should react immediately.(Kelly Wallace). Technology has taken its meaning to the art of
not being face to face. Where schools are affected, they have allowed teens use their devices in
class because staff and faculty think it will help them participate and be better engaged. The most
influential piece of technology are cell phones to where that's all teenagers know. This can act as a
negative effect on tennagers because teens miss out on so many opportunities due to the simple fact
of them being occupied by their devices. Teens are missing valuable opportunities for growth by
using their phones all the time. Teens use their phones frequently throughout the day for different
uses. Social media, text messages, and so many more other things. By using their phone a lot they
miss out here on some key opportunities when being attached to their phones. As a teenager

Technology companies played a role in creating something that changed people's lives because
now technology is relied on in so many ways. People use technology for example studying for
quizzes, homework, and so many other things before we had electronics to look things up.
Everyone had to use their resources like books, pagers, friends, or use their brain to receive
information. Nowadays, technology is such a huge part of life especially for students since they do
not have to open a book. All students have to do is grab their phone, tablet, or a computer to look
their research up. Technology is a big concern and it is now affecting how students think
including their way of learning. Whereas before no one could rely on technology, but rely on
themselves to get information. Technology has taken over the world and has made students not
even think twice about what they are doing. Technology, such as tablets has a big role on students
especially little kids. Tablets are a way for parents to not have the responsibility to take care of
their kids and push them away to someone else. Students are so depended on tablets it is harming
their development. According to Marc Prensky, it states that "tablets and smartphones are great
gadgets for making kids busy and quiet, especially for harassing parents who have urgent things to
do other than attending to their kids." Tablets are a great source to make kids behave, or get them
to do what the parents want. It is also a "here, go play with this and leave me alone" tool. It can
affect relationships because when a person feels the urge to check their phone, and the distraction a
phone has makes the other person feel upset. People who felt that their partners were dependent on
their devices said "they were less satisfied in their relationship." Mainly because the partner thinks he
/she is cheating on them by being on their device so often it makes them suspicious. In Digital
Natives, Digital Immigrants it states that "today's students think and process information
fundamentally differently from their predecessors. Different kinds of experience leads to different
brain structures."(Marc Prensky 1) One is that technology changes the way students process the

How could something that we use to embellish and enrich our lives also be the cause of tearing it
down? This was the case for Ashley Berry, an 11–year–old girl living in the hills of Littleton,
Colorado. Ashley was living a regular, 11–year–old girl's life, but unbeknownst to her, her life was
being torn apart. As the American scientist Herbert Simon once said, "There are no morals about
technology at all. Technology expands our way of thinking about things, expands our way of
doing things. If we're bad people we use technology for bad purposes, and if we're good people,
we use technology for good purposes." Connecting with others through technology is amazing,
until it's not. Our generation has a choice: to use technology for good or harm. It is this
technology that has developed monumentally over the past decade that has come to define itself as
the symbol for the youngest generation and emphasize its part in our American identity. When
Ashley Berry arrived to her school on a normal spring morning, she wasn't expecting the snide and
odd comments that were coming from her peers. They would remark on what she did yesterday or
ask her how things went with the family party. It was shocking to Ashley not only on why her
classmates would be telling her these personal facts, but how they got this information. Ashley
decided to cast this all aside and focus on school. However, this was getting more difficult as the
days went by. She was now starting to be made fun of with

Today's society has advanced so this past decade. So much to the point we use it at a daily basis.
Technology does have it's perks, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology has its
advantages in many ways and I know firsthand how powerful and convenient today's technology is.
Without it, I would have a lot of trouble getting through my day. I would not be able to get a hold of
someone as easy without my blackberry. I am constantly text messaging on it. So much to the point
that I trip over stuff while I am walking due to reading a long text. My blackberry is basically my
life. It is great to know that if I ever get stranded in the middle of a desert on my way to California, I
have roadside assistance on my phone to save me. I...show more content...
Life is more simple with these wonderful devices, but we are becoming too lazy to pick up a book
and learn things on our own. I feel like I and many of my classmates barley open a book for class,
instead we use the internet for everything. This is becoming a serious issue. I feel that we are not
expanding our minds like we used to back when technology was not as advanced. I remember back
in middle school were the internet was available, but I did not let it take up time in my day. I
found myself being more productive with my life back then. Now, I probably spent a fourth of
my day using the internet, which is not necessary at all. With so much power to discover new
things without even thinking makes me wonder what will happen to our next generation as
technology advances. Are we headed for a world where everything is technology driven and
devoid of what makes us human? I look at today's society and I feel that it is really getting to that
point. It is almost as if we are turning into robots. We are divorcing ourselves from regular human
activities. `We are now getting to the point where we are programmed to use technology at a daily
basis. My generation needs to realize that there are many other types of activities that give us greater
satisfaction than anything that is offered online. Instead of spending two to three hours text
messaging a friend, social networking and checking listings on Ebay, we should really take a visit

Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology
Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products or
you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and maybe
a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny of modern
society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but now owning
a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft are replacing
taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost everywhere around
the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of our lives does not
mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still have an ongoing
debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting society as a whole or not.
Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this new technological age
expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will change our world for the better
both Kevin Kelly's "Better than Human", Clive Thompson's "Smarter than You Think", as well as
Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld's "The Influencing Machines" explore. On the other hand,
skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies are tainting our own capabilities and
making us more dependent rather than relying on our own skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article
"Is Google Making Us Stupid?". Although technology has changed many aspects of our lives we
should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many aspects of our daily lives. One of the main
concerns that people have in accordance to new technological advances is how it affects our brains
and how we think. Although I tend to be an enthusiast when it comes to new cutting–edge hardware
or software I still agree with Carr on the fact that technology may not be this great learning tool
with no downsides that everyone hypes it up to be. In fact, Carr had one thing that really struck me
when he talked about how "the style of reading promoted by the Net, a style that puts 'efficiency'
and 'immediacy' above all else, may be weakening our capacity for [deep reading]"(319). In

Argumentative Essay About Technology
Introduction
In a world where technology is constantly changing for the better, the effects it has on society
seems to be worsening. My friend was traveling across the United States recently and when they
were waiting at an airport, they noticed that everyone was on their phone. A room of approximately
two hundred people and everyone was on their phone. Ten years ago, that room would have most
likely been full of face–to–face communication and flowering with new connections instead of being
silent and void. We need to spend time away from the use oftechnology and use that time to connect
with others instead of being cooped up in our own worlds. Technology has caused people to be
constantly distracted, stressed, diagnosed with sleep disorders, lacking social skills and left addicted
to the many parts of electronics.
Benefits of Technology
Technology does tasks at a faster pace with more ease and accuracy than ever before. When a
business is trying to record all of its transactions, a program is able to record them a lot better than
a person who may cause errors, such as having poor handwriting or calculating a problem
incorrectly. The lack of human workers has resulted in business owners gaining millions of dollars.
It has also made reaching others in another continent a possibility. If I wanted to talk to someone in
China, I can with a simple phone call. In addition, anyone who wishes to learn something new could
simply just google it and learn basic concepts just as

Argumentative Essay On Modern Technology
You are growing up in an era fascinated, yet addicted to the everyday technology of the twenty–first
century and I can see it already starting to engulf you along the way. The technology set forth by
wider institutions of the US are failing the people every day like you and me by turning us against
each other and towards the screens of our phones, tablets, and computers. The one large corporation
that has been at the forefront of the US in terms of disappointment to the people, is the technology
company Apple. The founders of Apple,Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, created an empire of
technological advances that elevated them to a status of fame and fortune. They are seen as being
superhumans that saved the world because they invented technology that we use every day. The
iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook, Apple watch, and countless other products are seen as essential in
society to have in your possession. This has become the norm in society and most people under the
age of twenty hardly remembering what the world was like without them. We have become addicted
to acquiring this technology and it is starting to control our lives.
No one wants to admit it, but the world might have been better without the existence of the internet.
We had more time for ourselves before the use of cell phones, texting, and social media. You never
hear about how technology could have ruined the world, instead, you hear of the wonderful ways it

Argumentative Essay About Technology
Technology: a word and concept that dates back to the dawn of humanity. Over the ages, it has
taken the form of useful innovations that comforted us or helped us stay alive. Blankets, plows,
pots, and the scientific method were all considered grand, novel technologies at their inception. Still
greater feats will become possible as new technology emerges. In spite of the benefits that
technology has brought to persons and society, countless present–day self–imposed Technical
regulations, and technology's ability to help us solve present–day problems, many argue that
technology serves only to trip over its own feet, creating additional, unnecessary problems– clearly,
they could not be more mistaken.
Technology has shown its ability to benefit humanity in manners greater than simply providing
convenience. This is especially apparent in the industrial revolution, where technology was a source
of positive reforms concerning societies and lifestyles. During the industrial revolution, humans
became capable of manufacturing high–quality goods in huge volumes with little effort, "[Armed
with the] mass production of goods, traditional agricultural communities across Europe and the
United States gradually evolved into industrial societies built around thriving urban centers"
("Industrial Revolution"). This allowed much of the human population to move into jobs outside of
agriculture, decreasing demand for manual human labor and improving standards of living. In
modern times, only a

Argumentative Essay On Information Technology
The information technology profession is not just a career; it becomes a part of whom you are.
Even though this can occasionally be a bad thing, it also has the ability to provide you with the
building blocks for a satisfying and successful career. As I became an IT technician or techie, it
began to mold me and alter how others viewed me in positive ways and negative ways. Being a
techie impacts my life, for the good and occasionally the bad. Initially, being a techie means that you
will need to provide technical support at all times. This means that your job as an information
technology professional never ends. When you are a techie a "9 to 5" job does not exist. You
provide support at night, on weekends, and even while on vacation. For...show more content...
In the end, I was barely able to get the server set up in the required amount of time. In situations
such as this one where things do not go according to plan, you are put under an extreme amount of
pressure. In spite of the fact that this certainly is a negative aspect of the IT field, it also helps you
do your best. When you are put under lots pressure to do something that is when your
problem–solving skills and technical knowledge is being fully utilized. Thus, being put under
pressure in the IT field has advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, when you are a techie,
friends expect that they can come to you for tech support. As soon as friends and even strangers
find out that I am an IT technician they start asking me questions. Some frequent questions I receive
are: my laptop will not turn on, can you help? Which phone should I buy? And why is my internet
so slow? These constant requests for technical related help become very annoying. For example, I
have a friend who constantly complains that his Wi–Fi does not reach his bedroom; as soon as he
found out I was a techie he asked me to fix it next time I go to his house. As a result, I have not
been back to his home in over a year. Indeed, it is quite irritating to have people asking for tech
support, but it also has a positive aspect. Being able to tell a person the technical details of things
when they ask for it is an

Is Google Making USupid By Nicholas Carr
Year by year, day by day, and minute by minute, machines are expanding. They have grown so much
that this day in age, everyone is technology–dependent. The simplest tasks have become broken in
our minds and we almost always use technology as our crutch. Both scientists and the average
person have played a part in making technology what it is today. Whether it's an astronaut using a
robot arm in outer space or your neighbor, using their GPS to find their way to work, nearly
everyone on Earth uses some form of computer operator daily. There is no telling how much
technology has grown in the past century, and the possibilities for its expansion in the next century
are indefinite. An extensive number of worrisome people ponder if the human...show more content...
After reading Nicholas Carr's article Is Google Making Us Stupid? I still agree with my original
claim, although not so much on the topic that robots will purposely hurt us; that is for a different
discussion. Carr's article includes evidence about how Google is hurting our brain more than
helping it. Carr explains his own experiences before technology became the center of our world.
He describes the lengthy books he used to read and how he used to dive into them. His words are,
"my mind now expects to take in information the way the Net distributes it: in a swiftly moving
stream of particles. Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like
a guy on a Jet Ski" (Carr 315). Once technology arose, he admits to not being able to read long
books or articles anymore, admitting that he only skims due to his reduced attention span. Aside
from reading, Google is making information more accessible. Some argue that with a sea of
information at our fingertips, we are infinitely powerful. While it is mind boggling to think of the
possibilities we have with technology, our minds are becoming lazy due to it. Our brains are no
longer faced with challenges of finding information, therefore our brains no longer feel the
"rewarding sense". Carr also brings up the fact that "...we may well be reading more today than we
did in the 1970s or 1980s, when television was our medium

Americans Use Electronics Media11 + Hours A Day
Technology Can you recall the last time you didn't use technology, the last time you did not use
your phone, smart watch, laptop, or tv? Can you think of an answer, no, okay. How about an
easier question, when is the last time you used technology? Maybe last night before you went to
bed? This morning to turn off your alarm? Or maybe right now to check what time the class is
over. Either way you have probably used or will use about an hour of your day on technology.
According to Felix Richter, in the article, "Americans Use Electronics Media11+ Hours a Day,"
the average person uses technology for 11 or more hours each day. The human being is only
awake for 16 to 18 hours a day. So, on average, a person uses 70% of their day on technology that
is more than half the time we are awake and active during the day. This percentage increases 5%
each year that means that in six years technology will occupy 100% the average humans' active
day. There is a famous quote by Christian Lous Lange, "Technology is a useful servant, but a
dangerous master." Lange forewarns everyone about technology, his quote basically states that if
we let technology take over our lives, we become a slave to it. His quote warns us not to become
slaves to technology. However, sadly, we have already become a slave to technology, because we
already spend 70% of our day on technology (Richter). We have become very dependent on
technology, so dependent it has affect the new generations of children. Since,

Argumentative Essay On Technology
Our society has become entangled in a plight over the benefits and consequences of technology.
People are nearly incapable of detaching themselves from their devices and connecting to the world
around them. Online, they are able to display themselves in the best possible light and superficially
communicate with others creating a false sense of reality and community. The argument that
technology is beneficial because it allows people to easily access information and stay connected
to people who are geographically far away is valid, but there are consequences for these
conveniences that must be taken into account. Technology has reshaped the way people are able to
communicate with one another both virtually and in person, it has led to a lack of deep
connections, and it has allowed people to masquerade as anyone they choose. People's ability to
socialize and communicate has been altered by the constant use of technology. Commonly, in
today's society, the preferred mode of conversation takes place over text; this way of
communicating allows for an individual to respond whenever it is convenient for them to compose
their message. Professor Willingham discusses that when people use their devices, their focus is
directed outward, but when they reflect or daydream, they are being directed inward. This leads him
to fear that the constant outward focus on technology will lead to the inability to daydream and
reflect inwardly (Willingham, 2015). This is not simply an opinion,

In today's reality when discussing technology, most individuals will unavoidably specify
teenagers. It is correct, adolescents are obsessed with technology and in any case there are
doubtlessly benefits to this obsession. There are many positives to social media and technology
but, the bad outweighs the good. The internet and social media are here to stay for awhile so,
sites like Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube will be on the screens of
adolescents for who knows how long. Many sites have become the main priority of teenagers
everyday lives. Today it can be used as a very helpful tool in day to day life, but at the same time
cause numerous problems which can negatively impact a person. Technology greatly helps a
number of people. Teens use computers constantly for school work, communication, and for
entertainment purposes. For example, here at Esko we use iPads in our everyday workspaces. In a
good way, these nifty tools help save paper and create a better learning environment for each and
every student. Outside of school most students don't use technology the right way. They're spending
too much time on social media sites and not getting there school work done. "A study was completed
and showed that "eighth–, 10th–, and 12th–graders in the 2010s actually spend less time on
homework than Gen X teens did in the early 1990s" (Twenge). This is because many said they have

Individuals utilize technology to complete even the least difficult of undertakings regular. Rather
than writing things, we type them. Rather than working out a math issue, we utilize a calculator
to solve our problems. Individuals will truly use their cars to drop or pick up to get the mail as
opposed to walking to the mailbox. We utilize technology to make our suppers, wash our garments
and use the bathroom, which is the reason individuals hate blackouts. Table games are out of date.
Presently, we have TV and amusements to engage ourselves. Another technology used is our cell
phones. Do these technologies have any negative impacts on your life? Why or why not? Yes and
no. We Americans are very reliant on technology. I am clearly on technology as I express my
contention. If not for technology, we would not have the capacity to impart, work, learn, and so
forth. So yes, we rely upon technology in light of the fact that everything around us is either
technology, found because of technology, or designed from utilizing technology. While there is
contentions that technology, for example, cell phones disintegrate our focus, as well as hurt our
brains with EMR; the final product is that a master technology society has a tendency to have better
human services and better actualized technology in healing centers. In spite of the fact that we may
feel the agony for the time being, in the long haul it is better. On February 28, 1953, James Watson
of the United States and Francis Crick of England made one of the greatest scientific discoveries in

Many people would say that they are addicted to technology and that they can't live without it.
Technology is so embedded in our lives that it's hard to imagine living any other way. We pay our
bills, communicate, learn, listen to music, and do so many more things with our phones.
However, many have people said the same things about drugs and other addictive substances; that
they can't live without it. As we look further into the effects of technology it becomes easier and
easier to draw similarities between technology and addictive substances. But technology can't be
bad for us, we use it everyday and it does so much good, can it? We have all heard of
Arachnophobia and Acrophobia (fear of spiders and heights), but new type of phobia has recently
emerged called: nomophobia. Nomophobia is "that rush of anxiety and fear when you realize you
are disconnected and out of the loop with friends, family, work and the world." (Hussung) Our
phones can be seen a line of enhanced communication, where anyone can talk to us at anytime. We
can send things such as videos, pictures, websites, music, emojis, and others to convey what we
think; something that we couldn't do in face to face encounters. "Depression, anxiety, and
aggression have all been linked to excessive screen time." (Pretz) Further research showed that the
more time a person spent on a smart phone, the more their social skills eroded. They also found
that the more time spent in a fake or cyber reality, the less people were

Argumentative Essay On Children And Technology
The world is changing. The way we live is changing. With technology advancing daily the minds and
health of today's children are changing and molding into something new. This is the generation of
digital natives.
Everything that we do in our lives has to do with technology. The way we communicate, socialize,
and learn. The way our children learn has also changed. Children are like sponges their minds soak
in what is placed in front of them. They take in new ideas and how things are done. Young children
are beginning to learn more through technology with the advancement of online apps. Children with
speech and language problems are using technology to advance further with programs such as LENA.
Children to day have no choice but to be somehow influenced by technology. Many people have a
largely growing opinion on technology, being positive or negative on children. Children's usage of
technology should be limited and monitored. Too much usage can result in violence upon to many
violent video games,as well as laziness and obesity from prolonged hours of usage. The moral of it
all is children are being saturated in technology being that its good or bad. If a child plays a lot of
video games it can define his or hers attitude towards school or even towards family.Boys seem to be
more into video games than girls.
The usage of technology in school as well as with speech and language, benefits children in easier

the internet to get better understanding of topics.
Not all usage of technology will benefit children. Technology can affect a child's health. It can lead to
weight issues, obesity. It can affect their eyesight. Prolonged sitting can result in back problems that
will affect them into adulthood. It affects the relationships children have with parents and even other
children.Rather than socializing and communicating older children are resorting to technology to

A negative impact on children in the real word. Prolonged usage can defer a child's character,
causing a negative relationship with peers. It is also a cause of concern in writing skills. As children

Technology's Impact on Learning and Social Development

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Technology Technology Research When people think about the word technology, most people think about computers, cell phones, ipads, and the latest versions we are lucky enough to play with if we are willing to pay the high price. Technology such as computers, have been around since the early 1940's. According to Spicer, the firstcomputer made was called The Z3, built by German engineer, Konrad Zuse. The Z3 computer was used for aerodynamic calculations, but was later destroyed in a bombing in 1943. Technology has always been a benefit for physical education and special education classes. Rosengard stated on the SPARK website, that "Teaching physical education can be challenging for any number of reasons, from a lack of equipment to keeping students engaged." He later then stated that "To meet these challenges, some educators are turning to technology to create more dynamic classes that work for students with a wide range of fitness levels." Physical education classes have been lucky to be able to use pedometers, heart rate monitors, stopwatches, etc to be able to physically see and record how healthy their body is. When physical education classes started, teachers were lucky enough to have a pencil, notepad, and a clock on the wall that they used for a stopwatch. Before technology exploded, it was hard to record much of the information we are able to record and chart with technology today. With nearly 100% of public schools and colleges having access to the internet, many classes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Technology Argumentative Research Essay Rough Draft Recently I started thinking about if phones were affecting our brains and "More than 40 percent (of people) predicted a negative outcome: The young wired brains will be easily distracted and move away from deep–thinking capabilities and face to face social skills." (Murphy) Technology is causing major problems in society.Although most people believe that advancements in technology are beneficial to society, the overuse of technology has hindered newer generations because it causes us to be unhealthy, limits the need to think for oneself, and presents distractions that take away from conversation and education. Technology is effecting people in a way no one understands and this should help you understand the what, where, when, why, and how of it all. 20 years ago society was promoting cigarettes and unhealthy food because they didnt understand how it was bad for you and now everyone is promoting technology but maybe in 20 more years well realize it isnt healthy to be so connected. ("How Is...") Cigarettes are so unhealthy for people and so is certain food like processed foods, trans fat, and processed meat, people didnt know that 20 years ago though. We are constantly growing and inventing and not thinking about how it effects us. So are we going to soon realize how technology and cell phones are really effecting us. I found this research and it shows how technology effects our brains "The brain develops based on how it's used. Texting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Technology Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say, let your affairs be as two or three, and not a hundred or a thousand; instead of a million count half a dozen, and keep your accounts on your thumb–nail. –– Henry David Thoreau The invention of technology has impacted our lives so greatly that even the thought of it being taken away from us brings us fear. Our entire society developed around technology and we've become so dependent on it. The attention presented to us by social media sites has become so important to us that nothing else matters. All that matters for people are the amount of likes they get or if they're following the latest trends. Technology has become everything for us. Anything we need or want can easily be accessible by the touch of a finger. We've not only advanced with technology, but also been corrupted by its power. Individuals in our society rely on technology so greatly that we've lost our ability to survive. Our weakness is the internet and everything that connects to it. When the internet's gone we lose our minds and when our phone battery dies we feel a part of ourself die. We can't even remember the phone number of our friends because of our dependence on phones. Technology has also affected our ability to work. Chaine Kirschner states, "I was sent home one day at my last job because the Internet was down." (Kirschner.) Jobs have incorporated technology into the workplace causing us to dependent on it even for work. However, if anything goes wrong we are left to do nothing but wait for the technical issues to get resolved. Teachers, for example, create assignments and teach through technology, but when technology decides to fail on them they are forced to create everything from scratch. We work on our computers, we call on our phones, and we put our success in the hands of technology. We've even caused children to be attached to technology. This generation's children prioritize playing video games all day over exploring the outdoors. Humans have become like dogs on a leash. Technology has consumed us and we just obey. Technology hasn't made life any simpler for humanity. Instead it's swallowed us up into a dark abyss. Social media has captured Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology Today's world is ran by technology; everywhere you go it's used or is being talked about. In today's society it is as if the world can not function without technology, especially teens, because they need to technology the most. Technology acts as computers, cell phones, tablets, laptops etc. With society being slaves to technology, it hinders the full social aspect of communication. Teens use technology to get on the internet, social media, take pictures and they use this source to communicate in different aspects.Almost 80% about youngsters check their phones hourly; 72% feel the compelling reason should react immediately.(Kelly Wallace). Technology has taken its meaning to the art of not being face to face. Where schools are affected, they have allowed teens use their devices in class because staff and faculty think it will help them participate and be better engaged. The most influential piece of technology are cell phones to where that's all teenagers know. This can act as a negative effect on tennagers because teens miss out on so many opportunities due to the simple fact of them being occupied by their devices. Teens are missing valuable opportunities for growth by using their phones all the time. Teens use their phones frequently throughout the day for different uses. Social media, text messages, and so many more other things. By using their phone a lot they miss out here on some key opportunities when being attached to their phones. • 5. Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology Technology companies played a role in creating something that changed people's lives because now technology is relied on in so many ways. People use technology for example studying for quizzes, homework, and so many other things before we had electronics to look things up. Everyone had to use their resources like books, pagers, friends, or use their brain to receive information. Nowadays, technology is such a huge part of life especially for students since they do not have to open a book. All students have to do is grab their phone, tablet, or a computer to look their research up. Technology is a big concern and it is now affecting how students think including their way of learning. Whereas before no one could rely on technology, but rely on themselves to get information. Technology has taken over the world and has made students not even think twice about what they are doing. Technology, such as tablets has a big role on students especially little kids. Tablets are a way for parents to not have the responsibility to take care of their kids and push them away to someone else. Students are so depended on tablets it is harming their development. According to Marc Prensky, it states that "tablets and smartphones are great gadgets for making kids busy and quiet, especially for harassing parents who have urgent things to do other than attending to their kids." Tablets are a great source to make kids behave, or get them to do what the parents want. It is also a "here, go play with this and leave me alone" tool. It can affect relationships because when a person feels the urge to check their phone, and the distraction a phone has makes the other person feel upset. People who felt that their partners were dependent on their devices said "they were less satisfied in their relationship." Mainly because the partner thinks he /she is cheating on them by being on their device so often it makes them suspicious. In Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants it states that "today's students think and process information fundamentally differently from their predecessors. Different kinds of experience leads to different brain structures."(Marc Prensky 1) One is that technology changes the way students process the information Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Argumentative Essay On Technology How could something that we use to embellish and enrich our lives also be the cause of tearing it down? This was the case for Ashley Berry, an 11–year–old girl living in the hills of Littleton, Colorado. Ashley was living a regular, 11–year–old girl's life, but unbeknownst to her, her life was being torn apart. As the American scientist Herbert Simon once said, "There are no morals about technology at all. Technology expands our way of thinking about things, expands our way of doing things. If we're bad people we use technology for bad purposes, and if we're good people, we use technology for good purposes." Connecting with others through technology is amazing, until it's not. Our generation has a choice: to use technology for good or harm. It is this technology that has developed monumentally over the past decade that has come to define itself as the symbol for the youngest generation and emphasize its part in our American identity. When Ashley Berry arrived to her school on a normal spring morning, she wasn't expecting the snide and odd comments that were coming from her peers. They would remark on what she did yesterday or ask her how things went with the family party. It was shocking to Ashley not only on why her classmates would be telling her these personal facts, but how they got this information. Ashley decided to cast this all aside and focus on school. However, this was getting more difficult as the days went by. She was now starting to be made fun of with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Technology Argumentative Essay Today's society has advanced so this past decade. So much to the point we use it at a daily basis. Technology does have it's perks, but are we getting too dependent on it? Technology has its advantages in many ways and I know firsthand how powerful and convenient today's technology is. Without it, I would have a lot of trouble getting through my day. I would not be able to get a hold of someone as easy without my blackberry. I am constantly text messaging on it. So much to the point that I trip over stuff while I am walking due to reading a long text. My blackberry is basically my life. It is great to know that if I ever get stranded in the middle of a desert on my way to California, I have roadside assistance on my phone to save me. I...show more content... Life is more simple with these wonderful devices, but we are becoming too lazy to pick up a book and learn things on our own. I feel like I and many of my classmates barley open a book for class, instead we use the internet for everything. This is becoming a serious issue. I feel that we are not expanding our minds like we used to back when technology was not as advanced. I remember back in middle school were the internet was available, but I did not let it take up time in my day. I found myself being more productive with my life back then. Now, I probably spent a fourth of my day using the internet, which is not necessary at all. With so much power to discover new things without even thinking makes me wonder what will happen to our next generation as technology advances. Are we headed for a world where everything is technology driven and devoid of what makes us human? I look at today's society and I feel that it is really getting to that point. It is almost as if we are turning into robots. We are divorcing ourselves from regular human activities. `We are now getting to the point where we are programmed to use technology at a daily basis. My generation needs to realize that there are many other types of activities that give us greater satisfaction than anything that is offered online. Instead of spending two to three hours text messaging a friend, social networking and checking listings on Ebay, we should really take a visit to a local Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Technology And Technology Whether you are a geek, buying the latest smartphone, game console, and latest Apple products or you are just the minimalist who only has the necessary smart devices like your phone and maybe a laptop, it is undeniable that technology is making its way into every nook and cranny of modern society. Owning your own car was treated as a way to be free back in the eighties, but now owning a car is starting to become a thing of the past as companies such as UBER and Lyft are replacing taxies but making a new form of public transportation constantly available almost everywhere around the world. Even though technology has basically taken over every aspect of our lives does not mean that every person has embraced it with open arms. These days we still have an ongoing debate about whether smart devices and the internet are helping or hurting society as a whole or not. Enthusiasts on this topic tend to look at a more optimistic view on this new technological age expressing how they think that robots and artificial intelligence will change our world for the better both Kevin Kelly's "Better than Human", Clive Thompson's "Smarter than You Think", as well as Brooke Gladstone and Josh Neufeld's "The Influencing Machines" explore. On the other hand, skeptics tend to write about how these new technologies are tainting our own capabilities and making us more dependent rather than relying on our own skills, says Nicholas Carr in his article "Is Google Making Us Stupid?". Although technology has changed many aspects of our lives we should still pay attention to how it has benefitted many aspects of our daily lives. One of the main concerns that people have in accordance to new technological advances is how it affects our brains and how we think. Although I tend to be an enthusiast when it comes to new cutting–edge hardware or software I still agree with Carr on the fact that technology may not be this great learning tool with no downsides that everyone hypes it up to be. In fact, Carr had one thing that really struck me when he talked about how "the style of reading promoted by the Net, a style that puts 'efficiency' and 'immediacy' above all else, may be weakening our capacity for [deep reading]"(319). • 9. Argumentative Essay About Technology Introduction In a world where technology is constantly changing for the better, the effects it has on society seems to be worsening. My friend was traveling across the United States recently and when they were waiting at an airport, they noticed that everyone was on their phone. A room of approximately two hundred people and everyone was on their phone. Ten years ago, that room would have most likely been full of face–to–face communication and flowering with new connections instead of being silent and void. We need to spend time away from the use oftechnology and use that time to connect with others instead of being cooped up in our own worlds. Technology has caused people to be constantly distracted, stressed, diagnosed with sleep disorders, lacking social skills and left addicted to the many parts of electronics. Benefits of Technology Technology does tasks at a faster pace with more ease and accuracy than ever before. When a business is trying to record all of its transactions, a program is able to record them a lot better than a person who may cause errors, such as having poor handwriting or calculating a problem incorrectly. The lack of human workers has resulted in business owners gaining millions of dollars. It has also made reaching others in another continent a possibility. If I wanted to talk to someone in China, I can with a simple phone call. In addition, anyone who wishes to learn something new could simply just google it and learn basic concepts just as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Argumentative Essay On Modern Technology You are growing up in an era fascinated, yet addicted to the everyday technology of the twenty–first century and I can see it already starting to engulf you along the way. The technology set forth by wider institutions of the US are failing the people every day like you and me by turning us against each other and towards the screens of our phones, tablets, and computers. The one large corporation that has been at the forefront of the US in terms of disappointment to the people, is the technology company Apple. The founders of Apple,Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, created an empire of technological advances that elevated them to a status of fame and fortune. They are seen as being superhumans that saved the world because they invented technology that we use every day. The iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook, Apple watch, and countless other products are seen as essential in society to have in your possession. This has become the norm in society and most people under the age of twenty hardly remembering what the world was like without them. We have become addicted to acquiring this technology and it is starting to control our lives. No one wants to admit it, but the world might have been better without the existence of the internet. We had more time for ourselves before the use of cell phones, texting, and social media. You never hear about how technology could have ruined the world, instead, you hear of the wonderful ways it brought the world together and made everything so much Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay About Technology Technology: a word and concept that dates back to the dawn of humanity. Over the ages, it has taken the form of useful innovations that comforted us or helped us stay alive. Blankets, plows, pots, and the scientific method were all considered grand, novel technologies at their inception. Still greater feats will become possible as new technology emerges. In spite of the benefits that technology has brought to persons and society, countless present–day self–imposed Technical regulations, and technology's ability to help us solve present–day problems, many argue that technology serves only to trip over its own feet, creating additional, unnecessary problems– clearly, they could not be more mistaken. Technology has shown its ability to benefit humanity in manners greater than simply providing convenience. This is especially apparent in the industrial revolution, where technology was a source of positive reforms concerning societies and lifestyles. During the industrial revolution, humans became capable of manufacturing high–quality goods in huge volumes with little effort, "[Armed with the] mass production of goods, traditional agricultural communities across Europe and the United States gradually evolved into industrial societies built around thriving urban centers" ("Industrial Revolution"). This allowed much of the human population to move into jobs outside of agriculture, decreasing demand for manual human labor and improving standards of living. • 12. Argumentative Essay On Information Technology The information technology profession is not just a career; it becomes a part of whom you are. Even though this can occasionally be a bad thing, it also has the ability to provide you with the building blocks for a satisfying and successful career. As I became an IT technician or techie, it began to mold me and alter how others viewed me in positive ways and negative ways. Being a techie impacts my life, for the good and occasionally the bad. Initially, being a techie means that you will need to provide technical support at all times. This means that your job as an information technology professional never ends. When you are a techie a "9 to 5" job does not exist. You provide support at night, on weekends, and even while on vacation. For...show more content... In the end, I was barely able to get the server set up in the required amount of time. In situations such as this one where things do not go according to plan, you are put under an extreme amount of pressure. In spite of the fact that this certainly is a negative aspect of the IT field, it also helps you do your best. When you are put under lots pressure to do something that is when your problem–solving skills and technical knowledge is being fully utilized. Thus, being put under pressure in the IT field has advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, when you are a techie, friends expect that they can come to you for tech support. As soon as friends and even strangers find out that I am an IT technician they start asking me questions. Some frequent questions I receive are: my laptop will not turn on, can you help? Which phone should I buy? And why is my internet so slow? These constant requests for technical related help become very annoying. For example, I have a friend who constantly complains that his Wi–Fi does not reach his bedroom; as soon as he found out I was a techie he asked me to fix it next time I go to his house. As a result, I have not been back to his home in over a year. Indeed, it is quite irritating to have people asking for tech support, but it also has a positive aspect. • 13. Is Google Making USupid By Nicholas Carr Year by year, day by day, and minute by minute, machines are expanding. They have grown so much that this day in age, everyone is technology–dependent. The simplest tasks have become broken in our minds and we almost always use technology as our crutch. Both scientists and the average person have played a part in making technology what it is today. Whether it's an astronaut using a robot arm in outer space or your neighbor, using their GPS to find their way to work, nearly everyone on Earth uses some form of computer operator daily. There is no telling how much technology has grown in the past century, and the possibilities for its expansion in the next century are indefinite. An extensive number of worrisome people ponder if the human...show more content... After reading Nicholas Carr's article Is Google Making Us Stupid? I still agree with my original claim, although not so much on the topic that robots will purposely hurt us; that is for a different discussion. Carr's article includes evidence about how Google is hurting our brain more than helping it. Carr explains his own experiences before technology became the center of our world. He describes the lengthy books he used to read and how he used to dive into them. His words are, "my mind now expects to take in information the way the Net distributes it: in a swiftly moving stream of particles. Once I was a scuba diver in the sea of words. Now I zip along the surface like a guy on a Jet Ski" (Carr 315). Once technology arose, he admits to not being able to read long books or articles anymore, admitting that he only skims due to his reduced attention span. Aside from reading, Google is making information more accessible. Some argue that with a sea of information at our fingertips, we are infinitely powerful. While it is mind boggling to think of the possibilities we have with technology, our minds are becoming lazy due to it. Our brains are no longer faced with challenges of finding information, therefore our brains no longer feel the "rewarding sense". Carr also brings up the fact that "...we may well be reading more today than we did in the 1970s or 1980s, when television was our medium Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Americans Use Electronics Media11 + Hours A Day Technology Can you recall the last time you didn't use technology, the last time you did not use your phone, smart watch, laptop, or tv? Can you think of an answer, no, okay. How about an easier question, when is the last time you used technology? Maybe last night before you went to bed? This morning to turn off your alarm? Or maybe right now to check what time the class is over. Either way you have probably used or will use about an hour of your day on technology. According to Felix Richter, in the article, "Americans Use Electronics Media11+ Hours a Day," the average person uses technology for 11 or more hours each day. The human being is only awake for 16 to 18 hours a day. So, on average, a person uses 70% of their day on technology that is more than half the time we are awake and active during the day. This percentage increases 5% each year that means that in six years technology will occupy 100% the average humans' active day. There is a famous quote by Christian Lous Lange, "Technology is a useful servant, but a dangerous master." Lange forewarns everyone about technology, his quote basically states that if we let technology take over our lives, we become a slave to it. His quote warns us not to become slaves to technology. However, sadly, we have already become a slave to technology, because we already spend 70% of our day on technology (Richter). • 15. Argumentative Essay On Technology Our society has become entangled in a plight over the benefits and consequences of technology. People are nearly incapable of detaching themselves from their devices and connecting to the world around them. Online, they are able to display themselves in the best possible light and superficially communicate with others creating a false sense of reality and community. The argument that technology is beneficial because it allows people to easily access information and stay connected to people who are geographically far away is valid, but there are consequences for these conveniences that must be taken into account. Technology has reshaped the way people are able to communicate with one another both virtually and in person, it has led to a lack of deep connections, and it has allowed people to masquerade as anyone they choose. People's ability to socialize and communicate has been altered by the constant use of technology. Commonly, in today's society, the preferred mode of conversation takes place over text; this way of communicating allows for an individual to respond whenever it is convenient for them to compose their message. Professor Willingham discusses that when people use their devices, their focus is directed outward, but when they reflect or daydream, they are being directed inward. This leads him to fear that the constant outward focus on technology will lead to the inability to daydream and reflect inwardly (Willingham, 2015). This is not simply an opinion, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Technology is so embedded in our lives that it's hard to imagine living any other way. We pay our bills, communicate, learn, listen to music, and do so many more things with our phones. However, many have people said the same things about drugs and other addictive substances; that they can't live without it. As we look further into the effects of technology it becomes easier and easier to draw similarities between technology and addictive substances. But technology can't be bad for us, we use it everyday and it does so much good, can it? We have all heard of Arachnophobia and Acrophobia (fear of spiders and heights), but new type of phobia has recently emerged called: nomophobia. Nomophobia is "that rush of anxiety and fear when you realize you are disconnected and out of the loop with friends, family, work and the world." (Hussung) Our phones can be seen a line of enhanced communication, where anyone can talk to us at anytime. We can send things such as videos, pictures, websites, music, emojis, and others to convey what we think; something that we couldn't do in face to face encounters.
