'Poly' means many, abundant, expresses volume.
'Foil' derives from 'foile', a leaf or sheet of paper, as in
foliage and phylum, branching of trees and history.
Polyfoils are e-document processors and readers. They
render documents of one length (albeit reflowable) that
expand in volume (envolume). They branch, cycle, bifurcate,
converge, run parallel versions, and more.

kP sequences parallel, split, and reconverge, from the side
of a linear core sequence, affording alternative, tangential,

oPs are encircling sequences, 2.5D content-bearing panels

7. kP Sweet Spot: Writers
kPs free writers. Most write for an audience, not an individual.
Some readers want detail, simplicity or complexity, but not
others. Writers guess, hoping to satisfy most. It's suboptimal.
kPs are for tangential, divergent, and alternative content. A writer
works on two tracks and keeps both. One may be core, others
kPs. Instead of ignoring alternatives, follow them through, as kPs.
A kP document has easy navigation formats. Readers quickly
return to the core, or find an overves, explaining more witiew of kP
paths. Writers reach wider audienchout lengthening the core.
A kP document can hide equations from
novices, or hide novice tools from experts.
By publishers own reckoning, this
doubles audiences of science books.
According to publishers, every equation in a popular book cuts
readership by half. kPs let publishers to reach wider audiences.
When readers reject equations, it's because they're unintelligable.
Yet equations can usually be understood with inexact images and
metaphors. These may annoy experts who understand equations
already, for whom metaphors and images dumb down content.

11. Let us now praise
famous books
Most famous nonfiction works are but partially read. eReaders like
Kindles give clues. Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" and
Thomas Picketty's "Capital in the 21st Century," were best sellers.
Readers penetrate neither much beyond introductions, according to
where people leave text highlights.
Nonfiction introductions give overviews, thesis statements, and
research summaries. Some do a good job describing a book's
concepts and chapters. But that fades. By page 160, many readers
forget how a chapter explained on page 12 makes sense.
Macroeconomics, cosmology, and cognitive science (subjects with
poorly read best-sellers) are compendia of ideas and facts. They
don't "tell a story," unless imposed. Chapter evidence builds a case.
gathering weight to reduce doubt. It may not have any special order.
oPs are a solution. A 30 page introduction, followed by 600 pages
broken in 18 chapters? A nightmare. Rotate from the introduction to

Audiences of different capacities can access similar content; if
mP strands bear content at different read-levels, complexity, and
other audience dmensions. Each multicore strand is a paracore.
An mP educational Polyfoil delivers content about a specific
subject to multiple grade levels on the same platform. Each para-
core targets a specific grade. A geographic subject may be taught
in the 3rd, 7th, & 10th grades. Each higher grade content is more
complex. But a 7th grader may benefit from privately reviewing a
