ON TOP OF THE WILLIS TOWER: THE TALLEST BUILDING IN THE UNITED STATES
After a mild summer time in Chicago, I am
very excited to welcome your sons and
daughters back to a brand new year in the Ivy
International dorms at Morgan Park
Academy!
Five new students have joined our returning
students and house parents, and we have
already bonded together over a number of
fun and educational activities in and around
the city of Chicago.
I really hope your sons and daughters will
have the time of their lives going to high
school here at Morgan Park Academy. It is
my goal to make our Ivy dormitories a place
where your children will be able to achieve
their academic goals, while also getting the
most out of their experience as a teenager in
the United States. I hope you won’t hesitate
to contact me at any time. Even though you
miss your children very much, I want you to
know that it is my honor and pleasure to
share with them the best years of their lives
here at Morgan Park Academy.
Sincerely yours,
Brian Bosack

Jan Wieczorek
Dorm Parent
Hello I am Jan Wieczorek, the dorm parent supervising the boys at the
MPA 2123 residence. I am a first generation Polish American born and
raised on the north side of Chicago. I received my degree in education
and chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana
Champaign. While attending school I was member of a number of both
philanthropic and extracurricular organizations. One such organization
provided me the opportunity to ride my bicycle across the United
States raising money for cancer research.
Aside from seeing the backcountry of the United States, I have
traveled to a few foreign nations: Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, and
Poland. I grew up playing soccer, but I love to play any sport or be
outdoors. I have a passion for mentoring and educating young minds
that has led me to hold positions as a chemistry/biology classroom
teacher, ski instructor, afterschool supervisor, and now as Ivy’s
Residential Faculty Member and ESL Instructor.

I look forward to working with all the students this year. Every student
is amazing in their own way and I know we can all learn from each other
throughout the year.

Riding Bikes with Jan
By Shengming Hu
We rode bicycle with Jan, Jonathan, Cindy and Wendy on Sept.22nd. It
was a sunny day, so the weather was warm and dry. We took public
transportation go to downtown, and then, we went to rent bicycles for
everyone. Then Jan led the way, and we followed him. We rode by the
lakeside of Lake Michigan for two hours. After that, we returned our
bicycle, and came back. Although we were tired, everyone was very
happy, and we appreciate Jan for leading us cycling. I hope we have
more chances for us to do sport games.

Homecoming Week
By Jonathan Xu
As a junior who have been at MPA since last year, what is happening
isn’t new to me. However it doesn’t mean that this is not exciting for
me. Spirit week and homecoming is what every student in this school
are looking forward after school have started. For the lower grades,
they get to get dressed up accordingly to what the student decided as
the theme of the week. This year, it is the music week in MPA, every
day student can dress according to the genre dedicated, last year it was
007. For me, it is not that exciting to dress up but it is always to see
others getting dressed in funny outfits. Every day, after lunch, the
upper school goes to the theatre and enjoys their activity of the day,
this year even the teacher joined the party and participated in the air
guitar event.
At the end of the week, at the Friday afternoon it what everyone was
waiting for, it was the parade and the bonfire. What the upper school
did for the parade was every grade got a car and we decorated the car
and drove in the block and gave out candies. The idea of the parade
was to let the neighborhood to see the school’s spirit and share the joy
we have in returning to school. After the parade, we had the bonfire in
the back yard of principal’s house. Bonfire was the time for people to
chat with each other and many people who graduated or left the school
returned.
What I like the most out of all the things in the homecoming week is
the homecoming dance, the dance sets off a nice feeling to me with the
music the DJ plays and the environment. There was a harmonious
feeling at the dance and it gives me the feeling of return to a home. No
one would ever say that they had a bad time at the dance.
