Maths tutoring
Mathematics teacher development
School management development
Developing financial life skills
Funding educational support programmes
4. ABOUT HELP2READ
Help2Read is a non-profit organization whose focus is to:
Literacy development
Community strengthening through education and youth development
The organization is involved in reading support and literacy resourcing
programmes where they:
Encourage reading in public primary schools across South Africa, particularly in
communities that are in need of this assistance
Donate literacy and reading resources in the form of reading boxes full of
books
Offer one-on-one reading assistance through their Reading Tutors
5. THE CSI PARTNERSHIP ACTIVITIES
The goals of the initiative are:
To improve reading proficiency for township primary school children in the Western Cape
and Gauteng disadvantaged communities by putting them through a yearlong reading
program that is designed to increase their literacy levels and literacy assessment scores
so that they are equivalent to levels in advantaged communities.
To improve teaching skills for secondary school mathematics teachers in the Eastern Cape
and KwaZulu Natal communities that Capitec serves by offering them a yearlong teacher
development programme to equips them with knowledge, skill and understanding for the
subject so that they are able to offer better quality learning to their learners to improve
their mathematics achievement and results.
