For a number of reasons, many K-12 districts are facing challenges implementing the use of Blackboard solutions in elementary schools, particularly for grades K-3. This deck outlines one K-3 school's implementation strategy and outcomes for teachers, students, and parents. Emphasis will be placed on primary student engagement and how the use of Blackboard technology and supported tools can contribute to early elementary instruction. Students are ready to participate in the learning process. In many cases, students at a chronologically young age are more comfortable engaging with technology than their parents and teachers. This comfort level, if ignored, results in students with unmet expectations and does not empower them to take responsibility for part of their own learning. This presentation will focus on enabling classroom teachers to embrace technologies that clearly add value to each student's learning by actively engaging them in the learning and teaching process.
