2. I created a backdrop which is relevant to my magazine. This is the
backdrop of the canteen of the school I am producing the magazine for.
3. I then created a halftone copy of the canteen and set it on
lighten. This is the start of producing my comic style effect.
4. I then added two gradient maps to give the backdrop a bit of depth and
contrast.
5. Now I added the focus of the school magazine onto the cover. I messed around
with the saturation of the focus so that it blends in with the background.
6. I added lighting effects to lighten up the whole magazine. This is so the
magazine doesn’t look dark and unattractive, as the young audiences
prefer to look at bright colours.
7. I started to add in typography, which is relevant to my magazine. The masthead
included a gradient map of which I used for the background. This is so I keep
the colour scheme consistent. I also added a skyline to help promote my
magazine. Moreover, the main cover line is in a green colour, so it stands out
from the background. This is to emphasise the importance of the cover line.
8. I then added a splash and another cover story, to help promote the
magazine. I also edited the lighting of the whole magazine, as I
thought it was too bright. Ultimately, it gave a polish, contrasted
look to the magazine, which I liked.
9. Finally, I completed the magazine by adding in the codes and
conventions of a typical magazine (adding in a barcode, issue and
issue date). Also, I added another cover story to promote the
product. The cover story typography contained the same style
writing as the masthead, to keep the style consistent. Moreover, I
added a borderline to my cover pictures to emphasise the feeling
that the magazine is in the style of a comic.
