Editor's Notes
. The objective is to create an environment where there can be a type of open door policy where faculty, staff, and students will be able to discuss their concerns as an effort to change the negative behaviors that have been displayed at PBIS into positive behaviors. This plan will be called PBI for Positive Behavior Intervention.
This plan should go into effect by next month, so it doesn’t give us much time to launch the plan
. The first step will be to identify the problems that have been occurring in order to come up with preventative measures to assure these problems do not continue. A meeting will be called between the faculty and staff for pre change approval in an attempt to get all employees going in the same direction.
There are a significant amount of unwanted behaviors in the school and students are saying that it is because of the teachers that the students are acting out. The changes that will take place will help with the vision changing one’s life by one’s behavior. We all are aware of the risk that we are taking if we allow these behaviors to continue and they could lead to danger, which makes these changes urgent. We don’t want anyone to be surprised about the upcoming changing and all employees will have a chance to be involved. In order to launch this plan all faculty and staff must attend several training sessions in order to be trained on these new systems and cameras. Once all employees have been properly briefed, trained, and we are all moving forward in the same direction we will have an assembly to inform students of the concerns and changes that will be made.
The technology that will be used will be PowerPoint presentations trainings and meetings. Cameras will be installed in classrooms and hallways. An officer will be assigned to the school as his duty station. Call boxes will be installed around the campus for emergencies and what we call a white box will be installed for anonymous tips, complaints, concerns, and also to generate feedback for continuous improvement. By the end of the year disciplinary actions should have decreased significantly by that progress will be determined. We also count on faculty and staff complaints to go down. This will act as a middle phase of the change. Employees will have access to the progress report that will be available on the employee website.
Employees will have access to the progress report that will be available on the employee website. On this website employees will be able to write there reviews on the changes that have been made. Being that these plans are successful we see no need for future plans at this time. However there will be incentives for those with no complaints and those with no complaints job will not be affected. Progress for students will be celebrated with fun days and pizza parties for the best class, with lest complaints. Those with complaints will be required to attend a face to face communication counseling session.
Face to Face communication will be available for those who want to speak with the change leader, principal, school counselor, or nurse, in order to prevent miscommunication. They will all be available to faculty, staff, and students as part of the open door policy. Since employees look at the principal for direction he will be briefed by the change leader and he will be presenting the changes to employees and students. Trust is very important we take confidentiality very serious that is why we offer the option of anonymous tips. Like all changes there will be some draw backs, people that may have negative responses to change.
As change leader I am prepared to keep a positive view on the changes that will be made. For example, if a teacher opposes to having a camera in his or her classroom I will communicate to them that the camera will only help the teacher. The camera will serve as a technology need to accomplish the change. If students know that they are being taped they will be less likely to display unwanted behaviors in their class room. These changes can only help all involved. These changes will also produce organizational change by changing one’s life by one’s behavior. The behavior of employees and students are essential to the organization and the success of the organization as a whole.
