Research has shown that children receiving proper nutrition face fewer
issues regarding attendance and discipline. Designed to improve access to
nutritious breakfasts in public schools, the SBP is typically administered by
state organizations. In California, the state’s Department of Education
oversees the program.
To start a SBP, schools must make it available to all enrolled children.
Schools must keep records of all food types and amounts used, as well as
