a target of questionable marketing practicefor many years now.
There had been claims that Jiffy Lube was exploiting clients by
charging them for administrations that they didn't perform on
their vehicles and that they try to sell you services you don't
need. There have also been allegations that the mechanics turn
down some oil change requests saying they take too much time
since the company has been demonstrating sweatshop labor
practices. It was found that a portion of their maintenance
strategies were really advised against via vehicle makers. How
they were doing things had the potential for making harm
motors. The strategies that experienced harsh criticism were
their fuel infusion cleaning methods and their motor flushes.
This again violates the plant safety practices (Hanson, 2019).
One additional issue that was reported was that a North
Carolina Jiffy Lube worker was captured and imprisoned on pay
off accuses associated of supposedly helping a client pass a
necessary state vehicle examination which clearly

Business Administration
Purpose of Assignment
The purpose of the project is to give you an opportunity to
apply what has been learned about Business and Society
(through course lectures, readings, research, and discussions)
and expand research skills to analyze problems of an
organization. Since professional acumen involves presenting to
others, you are asked to participate in an individual
presentation.
The aim of the project is two-fold: 1) the project allows you to
research and explore Business and Society concepts in-depth
and 2) the project allows you to evaluate current concepts
within Business and Society within an organization. The target
organization is Jiffy Lube. Utilizing Business and Society
concepts and the analytical skills you have developed in your
career, you will present a Business and Society analysis based
on research from an assigned chapter and the targeted company.
What to Do
Your presentation will consist of three parts:
Part 1: Research the company’s background and concept
assigned.
Part 2: Refine the position.
Part 3: Present the information.
*While the main focus of your research should focus on the
Business and Society concept assigned, you may incorporate
other Business and Society concepts/theories that strengthen
your research. Be sure to aim for depth rather than breadth
regarding the use of use of additional Business and Society
concepts. Any additional concepts should NOT change the focus
of your research, but strengthen.
Include:
1. A comprehensive description of the Business and Society
concept(s), which come from the chapter assigned. (who, what,
why, when, where, how, how much?)
2. Describe the history, theories, and examples behind the use
of the assigned concept(s), as well as any positive or negative
opinions or against the concept(s) for the target company.
3. What societal benefit(s) do you see with the use of this
Business and Society concept?
4. Based on the topic, how does the targeted company manage
finances, human resources, customer service, community, the
environment, legal, economic, social, and culture aspects?
5. Based on your topic, describe how customer service and
ethics are linked?
6. Identify how corporate leaders manage the concept? (answers
may vary based on the topic)
7. Identify at least one unsuccessful incident the company can
improve upon. What could the leadership/company have done
better? Provide a description of the incident’s background and
how/why this Business and Society concept was applied
unsuccessfully.
8. Be prepared to discuss how this organizational concept is
applied in your own workplace – or could be applied.
Deliverables
Written Component:
· Prepare a report to address all components of the assignment.
· This report should be no less than 5 pages and no more than 7
of content. Imaged (graphs, charts, & images should not count
towards your 5 pages of content – Title page and Reference
does not count towards your 5 pages of content.
· You must have at least 5 references (At least 5 must be
scholarly peer-reviewed articles). All outside sources should be
referenced and must be properly cite both in text and on your
reference page.
· In addition to the 5 pages of content, a title page and
references are required.
· This report MUST be in proper APA format.
Presentation Component:
· Presentation should be presented using PowerPoint.
· Develop no more than 10 slides, including the title and
reference page.
· Slides must include proper citation and references.
· Presentation slides must be submitted in Blackboard the day
before the presentation for instructor review – no exceptions!
· Presentation should discuss all required parts of the research.
· Presentation must be at least 5 minutes in length, no more than
7 minutes. Going over 7 minutes will result in point deductions.
Each individual must submit both a written assignment and
presentation slides within Blackboard.
· Refer to Blackboard for due date
