Course Content
The course SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT BODY OF KNOWLEDGE (SCMBOK) FUNDAMENTALS is a
two-day SAICE CPD course and is not only for ECSA-registered persons, but also for any stakeholder in the
Supply Chain Management (SCM) field in the built environment.The course covers an introduction to the Supply
Chain Management Body Of Knowledge (SCMBOK). The SCMBOK includes legislation, policy document templates,
specifications and other items required for effective Supply Chain Management in the field of construction
procurement.
The course introduces the legislation, tools and systems used in Supply Chain Management for use by stakeholders
such as client bodies, consultants and contractors.The course teaches where to find these tools, and how to further
customise and apply them in terms of legislative prescripts such as those from NationalTreasury, CIDB, and others.
General training to acquire or refresh knowledge of related fields such as PI insurance, professional fee scales,
Contract Administration and other topics are also briefly covered.
Who Should Attend
The seminar will be relevant to employers, consulting engineers, contractors and project managers involved in
construction procurement and supply chain management.Typical audience members are engineers, site agents,
contract managers, procurement officers, financial officers, staff from legal departments and government officials.
2. Course Lecturer
The course is scheduled to be presented by Mr Benti Czanik. Benti is a professional engineer with over 35 years of
experience in the construction Industry, mainly as a consultant, and as an expert in the field of supply chain
management and construction procurement, including contracts and specification writing. He has had experience of
most types of contracts in all disciplines as well as advised on claims.
He has worked in many places in Southern Africa, and for both local and international clients.As member of two
CESA committees (Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Quality and Risk Management (QRM)) and serving on
three SABS technical committees, he is well versed in the civil industry and in multi-disciplinary engineering and
construction. In addition he has played a significant collaborative role in the GCC 2015, and contributed to compiling
the Guide to the GCC 2015.
