To Whom It May Concern:
My name is William Haun; I am an Adjunct Instructor of Graphic Design at The Illinois Institute of
Art – Schaumburg, and Course Facilitator for Sandford Brown Online. I am writing this letter on
behalf of my current student, Benjamin Allanson. Let me first say that Ben is a dedicated and
driven artist, one of (if not the) hardest working students I ever had the pleasure of working with. I
first met him while teaching at ILIS during the Summer 15 quarter and have been fortunate to
work with him as a collaborator and fellow creative. I have been impressed by Ben’s work ethic
and passion for his ideas, and have no doubt these innate qualities carry with him to any design
environment. I understand that he is applying for a media design position and I would like to
recommend him for this job with all my confidence.
Ben’s strong points as a designer include an ability to take on a wealth of projects and through a
sophisticated critical thinking process, produce startlingly original and effective visuals on a
variety of mixed media platforms. Ben is a true working designer that can employ a variety of
tools throughout his creative practice. I have witnessed his ability to take on projects outside of
his comfort zone and systematically dissect them until a visual solution was discovered. All this
while teaching himself new abilities be they conceptual or technical. Hiring Ben in a creative
capacity would be an excellent opportunity not only for him, but any company that could benefit
from access to his inventiveness, and dedication to his craft.
Finally, let me unequivocally state my strong recommendation for Benjamin Allanson. If you have
any questions or need more information, I will be happy to talk to you. Please call me at the listed
telephone number or email me at the address mentioned below.
Sincerely,
William J. Haun
