Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 3/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoor lighting, morning
Camera: Canon 1100D
Aperture: Low - F/4
Shutter Speed: 1/100 Commentary
I asked my model to
touch the Van der graaf
generator so the
electrostatics make her
hair stands on end. I
wanted the effect of
electricity running
through a person, as that
is what the power of the
drink provides.
3. Shooting details
Location: Priestley college – Drama Studio
Time & Date: 9:15am 3/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting
Camera: Canon 1100D
Commentary: I got someone to
Aperture: F/4 wave the flash light on a phone.
Shutter Speed: 5 seconds So it shows up as bright as
possible, I tried to keep the
room dark to get the best effect.
To do this, I used long exposure
on the camera settings. Which
means this moving light has
become clearly visible. This
involves a long duration shutter
speed to capture aspects of the
image sharply. E.g. Blurring.
4. Shooting details
Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 12/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting blocked all light away
with closed curtains
Camera: Canon 1100D
Aperture: F/18
Shutter Speed: 3.2 seconds
Commentary: Making sure all
light is kept from the room.
Apart from the fairy lights, that
I got someone to wave around.
I used the long exposure
setting to capture the motion of the
small lights clearly. This leaves enough time for every bit of light
to sink into the image, to produce the effect of still light.
5. Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 12/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting, blocked all
light away with closed curtains
Camera: Canon 1100D
Aperture: F/18
Shutter Speed: 8 seconds
Commentary: I wanted to
create an effect of electricity
and sparks. I got someone to
wave the lights around in
different directions and shapes.
I took these pictures
specifically to be in the
background of my brochure.
6. Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 12/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting blocked
all light away with closed curtains
Camera: Canon 1100D
Aperture: F/18
Shutter Speed: 2.5 seconds
Commentary: I got someone to wave
a phone around to create this effect.
I blocked the light completely away
from the room, so that the focus was
on the phone light. To do this, I used
slow shutter speed. I wanted this
picture for the front/back of my
brochure because it fits in well with
the blue brushes that I used in the
background.

Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 3/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoor lighting, morning
Camera: Canon 1100D
Aperture: F/4
Commentary: These
Shutter Speed: 1/100
pictures are similar to the
other van der graaf
generator pictures, but
from different angles. I
wanted to show the effect
of the hair standing on
end, to show the power of
electric, throughout a
person.
8. Shooting details
Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 12/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting blocked all light
away with closed curtains
Camera: Canon 1100D Commentary:: This was a
Aperture: F/18 different set of fairy lights.
Shutter Speed: 2.5 seconds I tried colourful ones.
However, I preferred the
effect of the white
coloured lights. These
lights weren’t as easy to
wave around, so I couldn’t
get the range of shapes
and effects I wanted to
gain from this.
9. Shooting details
Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 3/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoor lighting, morning
Camera: Canon 1100D Commentary: I
Aperture: F/4
Shutter Speed: 1/100
used the white
infinity wall and set
the equipment up
in front of it. I got
the model to keep
hold of it until her
hair stood up as
much as possible.
10. Shooting details
Location: Priestley college – PA.16
Time & Date: 9:15am 12/12/12
Lighting conditions: Indoors, No lighting blocked all light
away with closed curtains
Camera: Canon 1100D Commentary: This is
Aperture: F/18 another photo of the
Shutter Speed: 5 seconds phone screen waving
motion. This was also to
go on the front/back
cover. I like the different
effect it creates from the
fairy lights. They are both
doing similar things but
look very different.
