1. Cristina Shaw Music Video (2013-14)
At the start of the filmthey use the cutting tool
on Final Cut Pro to cut out sections of the
footage so that it jolts 2 seconds forward every
2 seconds. This is very effective when you want
tie to move fast and it goes with the fast pace
song. This is something that we will have to
consider doing as a group because I think it
could be really effective with the dancing to
jump cut sections.
The lyrics ‘Peak through’ are sung here as
she peaks through her hands onto the
scene where there are having a picnic and
it’s like an Alice in Wonderland scene. I
think this goes well with the upbeat song.
They have used a green screen here to
make the background a bright green forest.
They are all wearing quite vibrant colours
as well as the background being bright
green, this really goes well with the song
because its very fast pace and has a happy
atmosphere to it.
The use of the fake rain outside and the
glistering on them which they have
done through editing Is effective
towards both the song and audience. It
draws attention towards them but at
the same time reinforces the positive
atmosphere within the narrative and
song.
2. This part they use jump cuts again which is
effective in the library which it is located in. The
cuts are edited to the beat of the song which
helps the song flow and connects the song and
visuals for the audience to make a clearer link.
I like the lens flare in this shot and am
considering including a lens flare in our
music video. I think lens flares cans
suggest a lot of things and depending on
the atmosphere can make the music
video more dramatic or more positive
showing the sun on a glorious day such
as this shot. The girl is smiling which
reinforces this positive mood and
atmosphere.
I like how they have used split
screens to divide these up. Three
different pieces of footage doing
different things. Although we don’t
want to make our music video cheesy
but I think using a split screen could
be effective when smashing the glass
of flowers. We are also thinking of
using slow motion at this point and
rewinding it back and forth.
I think this fits in with their theme of
happiness and positivity well. This split
screen and use of filters on Final Cut Pro
has led them to be able to reinforce this
happy atmosphere. They are singing along
to the song by lip sinking which is
connecting the lyrics and the visuals
together for the audiences eyes.
3. This panning two shot of the two main
characters is suggesting the relationship
between them, being reinforced by the
eye contact. Panning is something that
we, as a group, want to include in our
music video because it is a clever way of
showing more than just one frame.
