Sessions
Board-certified toxicologist Dr. Barry Logan has accomplished much over the course of a career
spanning nearly 30 years. He has published over 100 scientific papers and delivered over 400
presentations in the field of forensic toxicology and chemistry. His work as a toxicologist includes
serving as executive director for The Center for Forensic Science Research and Education and
senior vice president of NMS Labs in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Dr. Barry Logan has earned
several honors and awards for his work from groups such as the American Academy of Forensic
Sciences, for which he also served as president from 2013 to 2014.

Throughout the year, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) hosts several
educational activities as part of its work advancing the professional knowledge and careers of its
members. The organization's largest event is its Annual Scientific Meeting, which attracts
approximately 5,000 attendees for several days of presentations, workshops, seminars, and other
educational activities.

In 2020, the AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting will take place February 17-22 at the Anaheim
Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The six-day event will feature over two dozen
workshops on topics ranging from death investigation and human identification to injury
biomechanics, analytical chemistry, genetic genealogy, and forensic postmortem radiology.

Other highlights of the educational programming will include scientific sessions in several areas,
including anthropology, criminalistics, psychiatry and behavioral science, pathology, and
toxicology. The event will also include learning breakfasts and luncheons, as well as paper
presentations on the latest research and developments in the forensic sciences.

Outside of the educational activities, attendees at the 2020 AAFS Annual Scientific Meeting will
have the opportunity to socialize at a welcome reception, the 72nd Annual AAFS Wine and Cheese
