“The Angry Eye” Response
September 29, 2014
When I watched The Angry Eye I felt sad, and it hurt my feelings which is
probably a bad thing because that is how the girl who cried felt and they non-blue
eyes were angry with her. It is just really hard to wrap my mind around how bad
racism still is when I have never intentionally been mean to someone because of
how they look or where they are from. I think the Angry Eye is a great example of
how hurtful prejudice is, but I also thought it was really harsh. It left me wondering
if it really is that bad? I have faced prejudice in my life, although it is obviously not
that extreme. For example, it really hurts my feeling when people make fun of me
because I am from Wayne, a place that could be considered a stereotypical,
Appalachian town. It makes me angry that when people lump me into a group, as
though to say everyone where I am from is the same. It also makes me very upset
when people put me down where I am from or think I am less since I am from there
because I am proud of my hometown and know what a great place it can be.
