3. THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED WHILE WRITING NEWS
REPORT
A headline is the first thing an audience/reader see so it must
grab their attention. It must be attractive and brief but very
catchy.
Write a minimum of 6 words or less than that for the
headlines.
Use present tense and active verbs.
Avoid using articles in the headlines.
Avoid conjunctions. Substitute them with a comma or a semi
colon instead.

4. THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED WHILE WRITING NEWS
REPORT

• The lead paragraph should briefly answers the questions like
 Who :- who was involved?
 What :- what happened?
 Where :- where did it happen?
 When :- when did it happen?

• Risika Dahal,Kathmandu, August 25 (RSS) Six people died and three other were
injured when a passenger jeep fell some 400 meters down the road at Shaligram
VDC-2 in Parbat district on Tuesday night.

Devi,44, Yam Singh,50, Dilliram,35, and his daughter Sita,20, died in the accident.

6. A SAMPLE NEWS REPORT-CNTD.
• The vehicle (GA 1Ja 4679) which was heading to Urampokhara
in Parbat from Syangja, crashed at around 9:30 pm. Police
suspect that the jeep veered off the road as the driver lost
control on the steep road. Security personnel reached the
accident site at around 1 am, Wednesday morning after the
local people informed them of the accident.
