2. About:
• Vee Speers is an Australian Artist living in Paris. She studied fine art and
photography in Brisbane which was then followed by a five year career in
Sydney with the ABC television as a stills photography. A short stay in
France in 1990 became a permanent move to Paris, which for Speers is a
place with ‘unlimited potential and endless creative inspiration.’
3. Vee Speers techniques:
Vee Speers’ photos have an interesting simplicity of them. They are
creative and dramatic without even having a major effect on the
photograph. The pictures sometimes give off a sense of danger and
innocence depending on what the personality of the child is.
This photo called ‘the birthday party’ is a
fun party and again shows the innocence
and happiness of the child without showing
any facial expressions.
The background is plain white which makes
sure you see the details of the child and
shows the pinkness of the dress and how
big the hair is.
4. Photos by Vee Speers:
This photo is by far my favourite of Vee
Speers. Vee Speers freezes her models
postures in this way look determined -or some
what lost- at a pretend birthday party or fancy
ball. She shows the characteristics of each
child through out each picture.
She takes the photo in front a of a neutral
screen at eye level of every child which can
make the viewer feel different emotions
because of the dramatic emotions across the
childs face.
5. In this photo the girl has a serious face looking at the
crows. In somewhat this picture shows that she has a
darkside to this young girl. She is wearing the underskirts
of a ball gown and its as if its showing that every sweet girl
can be mean and in a way devilish if you take off her
colours.
This photo has a cheeky and naughty side to this
photo, it again shows that every girl can be bad even if
she acts like she’s an angel. The photo doesn’t show
the girls face which definitely makes the photograph
more dramatic than ones which you can see the face
in. It makes you imagine your own face of the girl and
shows her cheekiness.
