2. Birthday party- 2007
Vee Speers said the Faces looking directly at us is creating a quietly dramatic tension
urging a reaction from us. ‘The Birthday Party’ presents us with a façade of fantasy
but with a pared down aesthetic that amplifies the visual intensity through its simplicity.
These portraits of children confront us with reminders of our own childhood.
In my opinion, I agree with what Vee Speers has said, by looking at these it almost
Hypnotises you to your child hood, going to fancy dress party’s. Also, their clothes are
Quite dull, and they have a white background behind them, it makes them blend in
The picture better, if it was a dark back ground I don’t think it would work as well.
3. These photos are of ‘beautiful women’ it causes the viewer
to merge with the Surroundings of the image and enter a
kind of dream-like. The background
Goes well, as it doesn’t allow you to leave the dream it.
Its like it has has summoned you into the dream
of these beautiful women

These photos have a good effect in black and white, it makes it stands
out more, and shows us how people used to dress up, the first picture
is taken form an angle which I think makes it look better, than it would if it
was from another angle. For the last picture, its mainly focused on
the dog, the person in the photo is of blurred out and not very
focused on them. These photos remind me of some sort of movie that’s like
Romeo and Juliet.
