This document describes a lesson plan that uses a SMARTboard to test 8th and 9th grade history students' knowledge of the locations of the 50 U.S. states. Students will take turns dragging states into their correct locations on a map displayed on the SMARTboard, and will be graded individually based on their ability to correctly place each state. The lesson addresses universal design by allowing the SMARTboard to read state names aloud for students with reading impairments and allowing wheelchair-bound students to use a SMARTboard pad to participate.
