This farce is about the production of a show where things go hilariously wrong. To represent this in the program, I designed the program with half of it for the show that is being performed for the audience and the other half for the show within the show. This is the program through the actual show side.

Directorʼs Notes
This play has so many layers it could be an onion or
at least a parfait. As the director, I have nine talented
BVU actors each playing a professional actor or tech-
nician who are working on the play “Nothing On” to
work with. No matter how crazy an idea was they
always said “yes” (sometimes too quickly, but that is
another story). In the play within a play, they are
sometimes at odds with themselves, and the others. It
is fun to just try to keep track of. The 1st Act sets the
Act, you can see evidence of how they have worked
doubly hard on this show, and an actorʼs nightmare
style “May-Day, May-Day” 3rd Act crash. Thanks to
all of you for enduring the craziness and bringing
your brilliance. As the designer, it is one of my big-
gest builds in Anderson with nine doors or openings
and 32 platforms. It weighs about 4 tons. It has taken
us about 10 weeks to build and there is still stuff we
could have done. Thanks to my work-study and Ac-
ademic Assistants for your help and supervision and
all who will show up to strike as it will be a monster
coming down. Thanks and love to my family who are
doing their own theatre projects (our reward will be
spending time together at the movies very very soon
at M:IW). If we could only teach Ginger and Faulkor
to cook…
stage figuratively and realistically. In a unique 2nd

Skylar Finch is a sophomore Theatre Arts Management and Spanish double
major from Polk City, IA. Playing Dotty in Noises Off is her fourth production
as an actress at BVU, her previous shows being The Language Archive, The
Hollow, and Woman Wonder. Skylarʼs favorite part of the rehearsal process
was when she and Justin (who plays Garry) would make up handshakes or
randomly switch lines and have to start the scene over because they were
laughing so hard. She says something interesting about Dotty is that she qui-
etly has a lot of power over the production but is as clueless as all the other
characters at the same time.
Cole Hackbarth is a sophomore English and Theatre double major from
Spirit Lake, IA. Playing Lloyd in Noises Off is his fourth main stage role at BVU
including The Language Archive, The Hollow, and The Tempest. Coleʼs favorite
and hearing Glenn recite his lines because he would always have us all laugh-
says something interesting about himself is that he is “a part time janitor at a
the halls.” He wants everyone to know that even though Lloyd comes off as a
grumpy person, his heart is in the right place.
Justin Forkpa
from Urbandale, IA. He has been a part of several plays including The Tem-
pest and crew for Woman Wonder at BVU. Playing Garry is his second acting
role on the main stage here. The funniest moment for Justin was when every-
one in the show realized that they are pretty much their characters in real life.
He says something interesting about his character is “Itʼs hard to explain, but
heʼs got a lot going on, like me, you know? Itʼs on e of those things youʼll have
to see to understand, you know what I mean?”
Emily White is a junior double major in Music Performance and Music Pro-
since most of her main stage credits at BVU are backstage. She was the assis-
tant conductor and stage manager for Gianni Schicci and has performed on
stage in the musical Iowa and most recently in The Tempest. The funniest thing
to happen to Emily during rehearsal was when she heard everyone else doing
accents during warm ups and suddenly had an accent for the rest of rehearsal
that night. Something interesting about Emily is that she is the owner of a 750
Honda Shadow A.C.E. and canʼt wait for summer to ride again.
Christina Spillman is a freshman Theatre & Media Performance major from
Sarasota, FL. Noises Off is Christinaʼs second production at BVU, where she
also performed in Woman Wonder. She has been performing since she was
three years old. Her favorite part of the rehearsal process was all the different
ways everyone tried to make the cast break character. Christinaʼs character,
Dalton and I speaking sign language to each other.” She is very grateful to
David for the opportunity to play such a fun role.
