Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and the

Our God is the sole founder of everything that ever

He had already have them programmed.
After God created man in His own image, God
ordained man to be wealthy – holistically. Look at
this scripture, Gen. 1:28; “And God blessed them
and God said unto them (man and woman), be
fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth
and subdue it; and have dominion over the
fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and
over every living thing that moveth upon the
earth”.
From the above scripture, God originally blessed
all man’s seeds and not some seeds.

DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
INTRODUCTION
In the beginning God created heaven and earth
and everything that is in it.
Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s and the
fullness thereof; The world and they that dwell
therein (KJV)
Our God is the sole founder of everything that ever
existed, and even before He laid his foundation,
He had already have them programmed.
After God created man in His own image, God
ordained man to be wealthy – holistically. Look at
this scripture, Gen. 1:28; “And God blessed them
and God said unto them (man and woman), be
fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth
and subdue it; and have dominion over the
fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and
over every living thing that moveth upon the
earth”.
From the above scripture, God originally blessed
all man’s seeds and not some seeds. God did not
create some rich and some poor but rather for
those who have enough to use it as a source of
1
9. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
aspiration for others.
The notion that “God created some poor and
some rich is a misconception. If you follow God’s
programmed principle, you would believe that
what you have (God gave you) is not for you
alone, but for others. Moses was slow in speech,
but Aaron fast in speech, God used both of them
to accomplish His mission”. They shared (gave)
what they have to each other. (Moses power, eye
and God’s mouth piece and Aaron Moses mouth
to the people). Both Moses, Aaron and the people
of Israel were rich and non lacked. At this point,
permit me to introduce you to the word “Giving”.
If a man always close his hand, it will practically
become impossible and difficult to hold/take)
something, but if a man opens his hand always,
(give) the chances of receiving is above 89/100.
Let us read Luke 6:38, “Give it shall be given
unto you, good measures, pressed down,
shaking together and running over” (KJV).
According to Luke 21:1-4, “And he looked up
and saw the rich men casting their gifts into
the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor
widow casting in thither two mites, and he
2
10. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
said, of a truth I say unto you, that this poor
widow hath cast in more than they all: for all
these have of their abundance cast in unto the
offerings of God but she of her penury hath
cast in all the living that she hath”.
So, giving is freely transferring the possession of
(something) for (someone), hand over to. Based
on my perspective, Giving is the privilege of joyfully
submitting one’s valuable possession to another
which may be informative or material. “If giving is
done without joy, it is not giving but loss”. Giving
is true when properly done. Can you remember
what Paul said to the contributors, “Not that I am
looking for a gift but I am looking for what may
be credited to your account” (Phillipians4:17).
Giving, like I earlier described can be informative
(spiritually witnessing Christ to somebody) and
bring the right knowledge or ideas to someone
which will help him or her meet certain needs).
The spiritual giving involves preaching the gospel
of Christ to those that need it and as well as
ministering, healing and salvation freely to the
needy. Just as the scripture stated here, “And as
ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven
is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,
3
11. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
raise the dead, cast out devils; freely ye have
received, freely give”.
Materialgivingcouldbeanyvaluablethingincluding
money. Many people (so called Christians) have
undermined this great previledge (giving). Some
said “It is not necessary to give”. But from the
scriptures (Luke 2:1-4) Jesus himself spoke of
giving and even commended a poor widow who
gave all she had. I have come to discover that the
secret of abundant life is power of giving. Each
time I withhold my tithe, I always experienced
financial loss or depletion. I have done this many
times and realized that I was supposed to pay my
tithe and give the little that I have to others that
have no enough.
The day I started going to give material gifts
(money) and spiritual gift (God’s word) to beggars
on the street even though I was a student not yet
started working, things began to work well both in
my academics and other areas.
My fellow Christians (Christ in the flesh), let us
see the need of giving, “For whatsoever God gave
you is not for you alone”.
According to 2Cor. 8:12-15 “But if there be first
4
12. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
a willing mind, it is accepted according to that
a man hath, and not according to that he hath
not. For I mean not that other men be eased
and ye burden. But by an equality, that now
at this time your abundance may be a supply
for their want, that their abundance also may
be a supply for your want; that there may be
equality: As it is written, He that had gathered
much had nothing over and He that had
gathered little had no lack’’.
“Giving out what God gave you or showing it is
the most important key to unlock God’s store
or warehouse for your well being, promotion,
favour and blessings from God.
I also want Christians to understand that
abundant life does not connote the state of total
exception from challenges, but overcomer of all
kind of challenges and obtain sure God’s kingdom
heritage .
Giving with righteousness and full repentance is
acceptable by Christ (Matt.13:3-6)
This book was given to me through the aid of open
vision to sight the reality, pursue and teach it.

way into the inheritance. The book discovering
the secret of abundance, should be a manual to
the redeemed alongside their bible, for in it the
writer exposed the various principles that gave
the early believers and Old Testament patriarchs
victory and thus established them in a lifestyle of
abundance. These secrets unveiled as timeless
nuggets, tasted and can be trusted.
Giving, tithing, seed sowing, generosity and a
lifestyle devoid of self but full of sacrifice among
other secrets were given their rightful place in this
writing.
The way the Word of God was engaged to
explain these secrets was performed; Modeling
the lifestyle of our Lord Jesus above all and His
teachings. This book is an eye opener of sort as
it dealt deeper into some controversial issues of
the Kingdom; like the issues of tithe and tithing in
the redemption. He gave a thorough insight into
biblical tithers of old as well as men who lived and
enjoyed true abundant living in our modern world
today.
No one who really Love God and trust upon His
word, will ever lack. He explained these truths by
7
15. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
simply defining tithe simply as obedience to God’s
command and nothing else.
In agreeing with the writer I saw the depth of
the above definition in the life of the patriarch
Abraham, who prospered and lived an abundant
life, the bible records him as illustrated from this
book explained that he was very rich in cattle, in
silver and in gold.
Gen 13:2, thereafter he was moved to pay tithe
of all to a high priest Melchizedek, king of Salem
and attracted divine blessing before he proceed
to war.
His descendant took it up and it blessed them and
established them in abundant life and till date is
still working for them.
No one will really love God and not keep His
commandments, he wrote and cited Malachi 3:8-
10 in his writing.
Commitment to God’s work remains the key, he
concluded by writing that no one can afford to
be non-committal in the things of the kingdom of
God and expects God to reveal the secrets of His
abundant life even more abundant life in His Son
Jesus Christ.

CHAPTER ONE
THE ORIGIN OF GIVING
God gave man everything, putting man as
overseer of all his creatures. Gen. 1:29-30 “And
God said, behold, I have given you every herb
bearing seed which is upon the surface of all
the earth and every tree, in which is the fruit
of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for
meat. And to every beast of the earth and to
the every fowl of the air and to everything that
creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life,
I have given every green herb for meat; and it
was so’’.
When man disobeyed God by committing sin
(purposely), God became annoyed and sent him
away from the Garden of Eden which I called God
warehouse of physical or material blessings. Due
to the mercy of God, God gave man another gift
which would retrieve man’s physical lost heritage
of man.
The gift is recorded; “For God so loved the
11
19. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH

world, that he gave His only begotten son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish
but have everlasting life’’ (John 3:16)
God gave a precious gift to man in order to bridge
the gap created between man and God (mediator)
which was created the very day man learnt to
disobey God.
This kind of giving that God gave man is considered
by me as spiritual giving.
12
20. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
CHAPTER TWO
CLASIFICATION OF GIVING
Giving is giving , but it is done differently and for
different purposes .
Therefore, I classified giving into spiritual and
physical or material.
1. Spiritual giving: It is the ultimate one, since a
father could not withhold his only begotten (loving)
son (valuable), but gave to the world (man) to
Himself.
John 3:17 “For God sent (gave not his son
(valuable gift) into the world not to condemn this
world (man); but that the world through him might
be saved (bought back to himself)’’.
Right from the day Jesus came, he told us that his
father sent (gave) him to us to bring us back to God
and to help us get share of his gift and meeting
other people’s spiritual needs. Hear what he said
here; “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that
God had raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved”. As many that received him got a portion of
13
21. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
this spiritual gift which helped them to exercise a
spiritual giving. According to Acts 2:1-4 “And when
the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all
in one accord in one place. And suddenly there
came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty
wind and it filled all the house where they were
sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven
tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of
them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost
and began to speak in other tongues, as the spirit
gave them utterance’’. God gave all believers His
Holy Spirit to preach, heal and save souls as well
as multiplying his kingdom. Here what Jesus said
in Matt. 10:5-8. “These twelve Jesus sent forth and
commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of
the gentiles and into any city of the Samaritans
enter yet not; But go rather to the lost sheep of
the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick,
cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils;
freely ye have received, freely give’’.
This spiritual authority given to man has fostered the
many recorded signs and wonders in the bible as the
Disciples of Christ matched to all nooks and crannies
fulfilling the assignment of giving spiritual need.
14
22. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
When Peter and John went to the temple one day,
they saw a man that was lame from conception
and he was brought to the temple at the door
called beautiful gate where he begged daily for
alms (material gift). When he saw John and Peter,
he asked for alms, but here what they replied and
gave him instead of alms. Acts 3:6 “Then Peter
said, silver have I none; but such as I have give I
thee; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise
up and walk”
Peter discovered that at that point the only giving
necessary was Jesus name (spiritual gift) , it does
not mean that Peter cannot provide him with money
needed. Today, as Christians (Christ in the flesh),
we should possess such power. This will help us
to give out to save souls in need of spiritual things.
2. Material Giving: This is the act of willfully
transferring one’s possession (money or physical
things) to another. In the old testament, the children
of Israelites gave for the construction of the temple
of God and for the ongoing maintenance of its
worship and ministry (Exodus 25:1-9; 35:4-9; 2
Kings 12:4-16; Matt. 17:24-27)
According to Leviticus 19:9-10. “And when ye reap
15
23. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap
the corners of thy field; neither shalt thou gatherthe
gleanings of thy harvest. And thou shalt not glean
thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape
of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor
and stranger; I am the Lord your God’’.
Matt. 17:24-27 “And when they were come to
Capernaum, they that received tribute money
came to Peter and said, Doth not your master pay
tribute?
He said, yes and when he was come into the
house, Jesus prevented him, saying what thinkest
thou, Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth
take custom or tribute? Of their own children, or
of strangers? Peter saith unto him of strangers.
Jesus saith unto him, then ae the children free.
Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go
thou to the sea and cast an hook and take up
the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast
opened his mouth thou shalt find a piece of money;
that take and give unto them)’’.
According to the above two scriptures, money and
grapes were given to the poor and needy.
Hear me today, every Christian must have
16
24. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
something to give ,be ye material or spiritual. Any
Christian that does not have what to give is not yet
a Christian. Even Christ our Lord could not resist
the need for giving.
He gave all, until he was left with himself and that
was not enough, gave himself.
For your door to be opened for divinity
consideration,my dear, you must be ready to be
a giver. When you open your hand something will
always find way in, but when your hand is locked
always nothing will pass in. I pray that God will
open your eye in the name of Jesus.

CHAPTER THREE
TYPES OF MATERIAL GIVING
Inchapter1,Itoldyouthatgivingcanbesegmented
into spiritual and material giving. Material or
physical giving can be divided into the following:
1. Sowing Seed: Acts 20:35 - I have showed
you all things, how that so laboring ye ought
to support the weak, and to remember the
words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is
more blessed to give than to receive.
Genesis 1:11 - And God said, Let the earth
bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and]
the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose
seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
Genesis 26:12-13 - Then Isaac sowed in
that land, and received in the same year an
hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
John 12:24 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except
a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die,
it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth
much fruit.
What is sowing? How do we sow for effective
18
26. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
result? What is a seed? Why must someone sow
a seed? In agriculture, sowing seed simply means
putting a seed inside an arable soil in order to
germinate and bear food for consumption. Seed in
agriculture is any piece of material that is capable
of growing when properly planted. When a farmer
wants to sow a particular seed to grow a crop, he/
she would ensure that the season venturing for
sowing is favorable and even the area to avoid
loss of the seed.
You must sow a seed that is ready to be sown or
else that seed will be damaged and yield no profit.
But in this case, I am going to talk about sowing
according to scripture and using the physical
principle of agricultural sowing for better
comprehension.
Listen to these, ‘’But this I say, he which soweth
sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he
which soweth bountifully shall reap also. Every
man according as he purposeth in his heart;
so let him give; not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able
to make a grace abound toward you; that ye,
always having all sufficiency in all things, may
19
27. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
abound to every good work; (As it is written,
he has dispersed abroad; he hath given to the
poor; his righteousness remaineth forever.
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower
both minister bread for your food and multiply
your seed sown and increase the fruits of your
righteousness ‘’(2Cor. 9:6-10)
‘’And if a man shall sanctify unto the Lord
some part of afield of his possession, then
the estimation shall be according to the seed
thereof; an homer of barley seed shall be
valued of fifty shekels of silver’’ (Lev. 27:66)
Sowing according to the scripture simply means,
taking a valuable portion of your possession
(money or any other valuable materials) and give
in the house of God for temple project or ministry
work. You can as well give to a minister of the
gospel (priest) and expecting increase from God.
Just as in agriculture the quality of the food
produced is determined by the amount, nature
and conclusion encompassing the seed sown. So
as that of scriptural seed sowing. From the above
two scriptures, it has been vividly explained; the
heart your used in sowing, the quantity and who
20
28. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
you sow to are very important factors affecting the
result of your seed. If you so well, you will reap
big. There is no yardstick about it.
In seed sowing, you must be careful whether
agricultural or scriptural. If you sow an agricultural
seed like cassava in area occupied by rabbit, it
shall be eaten up, so if you are sowing to a man of
God, you must know if he is real or not. “Sowing
into the hand of fake man of God is like pouring
water into a basket”.
The condition you sow a seed is very important.
It is very unfortunate today that some so called
Christians now forget their brain at home before
going to the Church, that is the most reason why
any fake pastor can say empty your pocket for
Christ, they will just obey and empty it. Every
Christian supposed to go to church with his/ her
complete brain.
Physiologically, when your brain is not functioning
or out of you, you are bound to do the unexpected.
As a Christian if you go to a Christian gathering
and you know that a pastor is asking for a seed
for a project such as church building, printing of
poster for a program, ministers support etc. you
21
29. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
can willfully give a seed not by force. Some men
of God, I pity them and pray that God change
and forgive them. I have gone to churches and
some Christians gathering, seeing how the body
of Christ is arrested by so called men of God for
their pocket. Honestly, I don’t know the bible or
bible verse they are reading, Paul did not burden
the church but allowed the spirit of God to speak
to them in their heart. He always preached to
them about the importance of giving (sowing but
not out of compulsion. Same thing I discovered
pastor Tony Chuks Okorie. I have witnessed his
teachings regarding to giving . He doesn’t demand
unnecessary giving or place a burden in the name
of giving on his members . But I discovered that
his members give freely with their whole hearths.
I want to use this medium to inform my fellow men
of God to be careful on how they handle the issue
of sowing and follow Paul pattern. because many
sheep have been scattered.
I have discovered that one of the reasons why
some members of the church are not always seen
in most gathering or church activities is directly
proportional to the high financial demand placed
on them. They dont want to come because no
22
30. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
enough money; May be they are shy!
2. Tithing: This can simply denote 1/10 (One
tenth) of annual produce or earnings, formerly
taken as tax for the support of the church and
clergy. Read these, ‘’And concerning the tithe
of the herd or of the flock, even of whatsoever
passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be Holy
unto the Lord’’. (Lev. 27:32); and those men that
died received tithes; but there he receiveth them,
of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I
may so say, Levi, also who receiveth tithe, paid
tithes to Abraham (Heb. 7:8-9).
‘’But woe unto you, Pharisees! For ye tithe mint,
and rue and all manner of herbs and pass over
judgement and the love of God; these ought ye
have done, and not to leave the other undone.(
Luke 11:42)
From the above, we saw tithe was received
by Levites and also paid to Abraham. But the
question may arise; must we pay tithe? Looking at
Lev. 27:30 “And all the tithe of the land whether of
the seed of the land or of fruits of the tree, is the
Lord’s; it is holy unto the Lord’’.
Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the store
23
31. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
house, that there may be food in mine house and
prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I
will not open you the windows of heaven and pour
you out a blessing, that there shall not be room
enough to receive it’’.
In my understanding, tithing simply means
obedience. And if the above scripture is considered
real (is in the bible, that means God is interested,
and is also a command which requires obedience).
How should we pay tithe?
The above question has been stormed and wrongly
interpreted by many people. The tithe is to be paid
to Levites and Levites to church treasury.
Tithing is not negotiable. It is a standard. I could
recall a couple of years when I was a little child, my
Daddy(Oruikor Alfred Jeremiah) always pay our
tithes. He pays monthly for every singular person
in my family. This made me to start paying tithe
when he no longer pays it. Because at that level
of my secondary school he considered us equal
to the task. I always saved my tithe money from
every money I received and pay monthly. When
I grew up at this age (being a minister), though
I was still having some studies and listening to
24
32. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
tithing misconception, I stopped paying tithe.
Do you know what I told myself? I am a minister
also, so I don’t need to pay tithe to anybody, but
myself. I tell you the truth, I did it only for a month
and experienced severe financial syndrome. At a
point I ran to Rev. Dr . Onwe of Christ Life, who
counseled me and prayed for me. From that day I
stopped eating my tithe.
Brethren, let no one deceive you, what is needful is
necessary. Do it with all pleasure and experience
the positive God’s finger on your wellbeing. I want
to use this medium to tell you that one tenth does
not connote money and material only, but that of
your time. We ought to give God 1/10 of our time
also. I pray that God will void you of disobedience
in the name of Jesus. Amen.
3. Alms giving: This is simply done out of
compassion to the needy. According to the bible,
Luke 6:30-31 “Give to every man that asketh of
thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask
them not again” and Luke 11:41 “But rather give
alms of such things as ye have; and behold all
things are clean unto you”. The bible says “give”. It
is a command and must be obeyed. The scripture
25
33. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH

teaches that we must give alms. Giving of alms
in contrast to some people notion, is a must for
Christians. You can only say that giving does not
have a specific amount or standard, but willfully
and according to one’s possession (strength) of
his/her (wealth). But giving is not optional. Even
Jesus gave alms, so if Jesus should give material
gifts, what about us? There are many less
privileged ones out there and they are greatly in
need of your alms. Even in the church there are still
some people who have nothing to earn their living.
We need to meet their need, I tell you today, if you
and I would accept this divine truth and give to
the needy, our society will be better and corruption
will give way to a fruitful and happy living. As an
individual, you can locate the needy and extend
your kind assistance to them. The preacher said,
in Ecclesiastes 11:1 “Cast thy bread upon the
waters for thou shalt find them after many days”.
The church of Christ is supposed to contribute
money and other material gifts for some members
and others that are in need. But look at what is
happening today. The church of Christ today is
not concerned about the welfare of its members,
but busy spending money beautifying the church
26
34. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
building and leaving the members in abject poverty
and sickness. Some so called churches of Christ
in Nigeria built universities out of alms contributed
among the poor but today the universities is now
meant for only wealthy children. Oh! the church,
where are you going to? Return to God!
I made it mandatory that every month end I and
my ministry must give, go out there to give alms,
no matter how small it is. Since I started doing it,
things have been working and turning around for
my favor. Though challenges come at times, but I
always overcome it.
Brethren, God cannot come physically to give
alms but want to pass through you to reach them.
I am pleading with every Christian to make himself
available for God to use.
Today, I decree that God will give you the grace
of giving alms in the name of Jesus.
4. First Fruit – First implies coming before all
others in time, order or importance. That is to say,
before doing something else and fruit implies;
(i) The fleshy part of a plant that contains
seed and can be eaten as food.
(ii) The seed bearing part of any plant.
(iii) The result of work or activity combining the
27
35. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH

two terms, first fruit can be said to be seed bearing
activity or works that should be done before other
things.
The scripture says, “Speak unto the children of
Israel and say unto them, when ye come into
the land which I give unto you and shall reap the
harvest thereof, then ye shall bring of fruits of your
harvest unto the priest.
From the scriptures, first fruit is the salary of
a Levite/Priest in the congregation of the church
(God’s people) and as well as good works of love
which everyone needs to begin with and as well
continue therein (in God; Christ Jesus). It is also
the first born of the family.
Let us read these scriptures: Prov. 3:9 “Honour
the Lord with thy substance and with the first
fruits of all thing increase’’ (Exodus 22:29)
“Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy
ripe fruits and of thy liquors; the first born
of thy sons that thou give unto me “God has
commanded that our first fruit is his and we
should not make use of it. As a worker the first
salary received by you in a year is of the lord servant
(priest) you must not use it no matter what? Or the
28

first crop you harvested in the begging of the year
must be given out.
God is very interested in your first fruit. But many
have forgotten themselves of the first fruits.
I ask that the powerful hand of God will keep this
in our mind in the name of Jesus . Amen.
5. Sacrificial giving: A true sacrifice involves
giving up something that is cherished. Jesus paid
the highest price for us because he loves us more
than we could ever imagine. He was put to death
by being crucified on a cross and his body was
laid in a tomb behind stones. John 3:16-17 “For
God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten son that whoever believeth in him should
not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent
not his son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved”.
God gave his only begotten son (all) for us to
redeem the world. Today, we that have received
Christ now enjoy the price he paid. Our God first
demonstrated his love through sacrificial giving. In
Gen. God tested Abraham with the only seed he
had, but Abraham failed not because he knew that
it was God who gave him and is

CHAPTER FOUR
SCRIPTURAL TIHERS AND REWARDS
Tithing didn’t start today and so it is never a new
thing .
Tithing is among the planned tools that God laid
downfromtheoutsetoftheworldcreationtoassess
our obedience and as well bless us materially.
In this chapter , we shall critically look at the
examples of tithers and their rewards as recorded
in the Bible.
Let us look at this scripture , 2 Chronicles 31:4-10:
4- Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt
in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and
the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the
law of the LORD.
5- And as soon as the commandment came
abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance
the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and
of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all
things brought they in abundantly.
6- And concerning the children of Israel and
Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also
30
38. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the
tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto
the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps.
7- In the third month they began to lay the
foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the
seventh month.
8 And when Hezekiah and the princes came and
saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his
people Israel.
9- Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and
the Levites concerning the heaps.
10- And Azariah the chief priest of the house of
Zadok answered him, and said, Since the people
began to bring the offerings into the house of the
LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left
plenty: for the LORD hath blessed his people; and
that which is left is this great store.
From the above scripture, we have learnt , that tithe
is very important as a commandment from God,
as well as the blessings that follow it. We know the
importance of tithe to the giver, the church, and
the society at large. Now, we will consider people
who committed themselves to giving tithe in the
Bible.

Abraham - Hebrew 7:1-10
Abraham is referred to as the father of faith and
the friend of God. He therefore did not fail in his
responsibility to give God what belongs to God.
He gave his tithe to Melchizedek, the priest of the
Most High God.
Thereafter, God’s promise was fulfilled in the life
of Abraham as he became very rich in all things.
(Genesis 13:1-6)
Genesis 13:2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in
silver, and in gold.
Jacob - Genesis 28:10-28
Jacob made a commitment to always give his
tithe as God blessed him. He made this promise
when he was a fugitive, running from his brother,
Esau. It was promise made out of desperation and
because Jacob believed that only God could keep
him safe in the way he was going.
In Genesis 32:13-21, Jacob was on his way
back home and God had evidently blessed him
abundantly that he sent many gifts ahead to his
brother.
Genesis 32:13-15 And he lodged there that same
night; and took of that which came to his hand
32
40. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH

a present for Esau his brother; two hundred she
goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes,
and twenty rams, thirty milch camels with their
colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses,
and ten foals.
God backs up His promises with a performance of
His wonders. He is faithful and if He says it, He will
surely do it. He has promised to open the windows
of heaven and pour down blessings for all those
who pay their tithes.
Proverbs 11:24 ‘’There is that scattereth, and yet
increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more
than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that
watereth shall be watered also himself’’.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse
him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him
that selleth it. Other Peoples That Began Poor But
Became Rich Due To Tithing
A story is told of a young man who accepted the
call to become an African missionary but found on
further examination that his wife could not stand
the climate of Africa. It made her very sick. He
was heartbroken, but he prayerfully returned to
his home and determined to make all the money
33
41. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH

he could to be used in spreading the Kingdom of
God all over the world. His father, a dentist, had
started to make on the side, an unfermented wine
for communion service. The young man took the
business over and developed it until it assumed
vast proportions-his name was ‘Welch,’ whose
family still manufacturers ‘grape juice’ He has
given literally hundred of thousands of dollars
to the work of missions by way of offerings and
has faithfully tithed to the church of Jesus Christ.
Starting poor but honoring God. Someone says
that tithing is only for the rich. But we have never
heard of a rich man or women commencing tithing,
but we can name scores who began to tithe when
they were poor and then became rich:
Mr. Crowell - founder of Quaker Oats Co.
Mr. Colgate- founder of Colgate Soaps, etc
Mr. Proctor of Ivory soap fame
Mr. Matthias Baldwin of Baldwin Locomotive
Industry.
R.G. Le Tourneau – founder of a large earth
moving business.
John D Rockefeller Sr. – multimillionaire.
Richard Devos – Founder of Amway.

CHAPTER FIVE
THE ROOT OF GENEROSITY
I discovered one funy thing here in Africa, the rich
keptbecomingricherandthepoorbecomingpoorer
. Sometimes I ask myself, why is this happening ?
Those that need money are not getting it, but the
person that has is still having more .
The truth is very simple, the poor has refused to
be rich and that is why if you ask a poor Man how
are you? He will tell you it is very bad. Even if he
has little , he says he has noting . That is it! noting
goes for noting .
Jack Ma - the founder of Alibaba said: *»The worst
people on earth to serve are the POOR PEOPLE»*

*See the reasons below:*
1) Give them for free, they will think it is a trap.
2) Tell them it’s a small investment, they will
say you can’t earn much.
3) Tell them to come in BIG, they will say «I
don’t have any money».
4) Tell them to try new things, they will say

will say «I don’t do network marketing and
how many years has this business model

8) Tell them to follow a 1-year business plan,

9) Ask them what can they do? They will say
«I can do ANYTHING».
10) They like to ask friends who are as

DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
Being generous is a necessity and must be minded
by all Christians . when you give the little that you
have then you open door for more . If you don’t
sow or plant the little corn seed you have in there
, then how will it grow and increase? It will remain
like that!
Oh God open our eyes to see this in JESUS name.
Jesus began his ministry with generosity . Look
at this scripture: John 2:1-11 And the third day
there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the
mother of Jesus was there:2:2 And both Jesus
was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.2:3
And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus
saith unto him, They have no wine.2:4 Jesus saith
unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee?
mine hour is not yet come.2:5 His mother saith
unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you,
do it.2:6
And there were set there six waterpots of stone,
after the manner of the purifying of the Jews,
containing two or three firkins apiece.2:7 Jesus
saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water.
And they filled them up to the brim.2:8 And he
saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the

governor of the feast. And they bare it.2:9 When
the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was
made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the
servants which drew the water knew) the governor
of the feast called the bridegroom,2:10 And saith
unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth
good wine; and when men have well drunk, then
that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good
wine until now.2:11 This beginning of miracles did
Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his
glory; and his disciples believed on him.
Qualities of Generosity
Studying different bible verses helps to be specific
about an area you need to improve in your walk
with God. Are you looking for help in the area of
generosity today? The Bible is clear that we are
to be generous to others. The Bible is so true in
that it is better to give than receive. Are you a
generous giver of your time, energy and money?
These generosity qualities will help you to focus
on the love of God for you and how you can take
God’s love and show generosity to others.
Before I underscore the qualities of generosity, I
39
47. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
will like us to study these scriptures: 2 Corinthians
9:10 - Now he that ministereth seed to the sower
both minister bread for [your] food, and multiply
your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your
righteousness;)
Genesis8:22-Whiletheearthremaineth,seedtime
and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and
winter, and day and night shall not cease.
2 Corinthians 9:12 - For the administration of this
service not only supplieth the want of the saints,
but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto
God; The above scriptures remind us of the power
of liberal giving .
The following are the qualities of generous
persons
1. Generous people often give more than they
are asked to give:
In Exodus 36:1-7 , we see God’s people bringing
more than enough to meet the need — to the point
that Moses must tell them to stop!
We don’t see too many campaigns today where
givers are asked to stop giving! But when it does
happen, it’s a special moment.
Giving to a cause that makes you reach for your
40
48. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
very best gift can bring some of the greatest
fulfillment you’ll ever know!.
2. Generous people give in response to a great
cause:In 2 Corinthians 8-9 , we see the Corinthian
church giving faithfully to help a community of
people whom they have never met!
I’ve sponsored and also see Pst. Tony Chuks
Okorie do same to Children and people he has no
link with. Seeing him doing those things boosted
my faith in such things.Astory is told of a man who
has been helping a child with a great organization,
Food for the Hungry, for many years. He said,
I’ve never met this child. I’ve seen his picture, I’ve
heard about his education and health care, but
I’ve never met him.
One of the most fulfilling things I do every month
is read the reports about his progress, his spiritual
growth. I will probably never meet him. But I
believe so much in the cause championed by this
organization, I can trust them to help this child
through my giving.
3. Generous people give out of their substance,
41
49. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
whether large or small: In Luke 21:1-4 , Jesus
compares the widow’s mite to the rich man’s gifts
— demonstrating that the gifts of all are needed
and used in God’s economy.
This is a well-known story — you’ve probably
heard or read it many times — yet it never gets old
to me. In my world of generous giving efforts, and
even the big project I’m working on right now, the
most powerful moments are when I hear stories of
sacrifice, whether big or small, in people’s giving.
I’ve seen young children give of their allowance.
I’ve seen people of means reach for the largest
gift they’ve ever given to take a stand for the Bible.
In each and every case, it’s the sacrifice that
counts.
Among many major givers these days, there isn’t
actually much sacrifice involved in their giving.
In spite of the volume of their contributions, their
giving is small, relative to their total capacity. When
you come across that person who sets something
else aside in order to help accomplish a key task or
vision — that is a special gift!
4. Generous people give more than just their
money: In Luke 10:25-37 , Jesus tells the classic
story of the Good Samaritan — one who gave
42
50. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
time, resources, and skill to meet the need of a
man who had been left for dead at the side of the
road. The Samaritan makes himself vulnerable
and available — the very definition of hospitality.
Generosity and hospitality are often closely linked.
In today’s culture, I see more and more that
generous givers want to give of more than just
their financial resources. This is especially true of
younger givers. They want to get their feet on the
ground with the causes they’re supporting.
Volunteering with an organization you’re
passionate about is a great way to find a deeper
connection to the cause. And sometimes — as in
the story of the Good Samaritan — the opportunity
is right there in front of you, without you having to
search for it.
Jump in with whatever you should give — money,
time, skills — and see what God will do both in
you and through you.
5. Generous people give even when it doesn’t
make sense: In Genesis 45 , we find Joseph
responding graciously and generously to his
family, even when logic would tell him not to.
Sometimes giving to a project or cause makes no
sense to anyone but you! Like Joseph, you may
43
51. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
have been mistreated or harmed in some way, by
a church or a cause. You still believe in the mission
of the organization, but there are hard feelings.
This kind of situation is a real test for me — a “grace
check.” It gets at the very heart of my commitment
to being a generous person.
Moving beyond our humanity is the hardest thing
to overcome. Setting aside differences in order to
help do the right thing with your generosity is an
act of real maturity, true Christ-likeness.
6. Generous people give to help others, even
when they differ from one another: We see it in
Luke 7:1-10 ,
as a Gentile builds a Jewish synagogue! Who
could have predicted such a donor for such a
cause?
Sometimes we’re given opportunities to help
people outside of our world view.
Of course your conscience has to guide you as
to how and where to invest your resources, but
it’s healthy to keep an open mind, to genuinely
consider the potential of various projects to
accomplish something good and valuable, and to
imagine yourself contributing to such an endeavor.
44
52. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
It may become a character-growth opportunity for
you ... and a boon to that worthwhile project.
7. Generous people give to see the impossible
become possible : A little boy offered Jesus his
meager lunch in Matthew 14:14-21 . He only had
a few loaves and fishes, and Jesus had 5,000
mouths to feed. But gifts in God’s hands can be
— and often are — divinely multiplied to meet the
demands of greater works.
This is one of the greatest-ever giving stories,
a beautiful picture of the faith to see something
profound happen because of your gifts.
First and foremost, the young man had enough
faith to give his own lunch away! He was risking
his own provision, his own comfort, in the hope
of helping others. One boy’s faith is what set in
motion the amazing miracle of Jesus feeding the
5,000.
Sometimes we have to be willing to imagine
something much greater than ourselves in order
to get behind a project.
8. Generous people give as a byproduct of
their own personal transformation: The story
of Zacchaeus, in Luke 19 , is the story of a
45
53. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
transformed giver. I love this story: a tax collector
forsaking the norm in order to give — moved by
Jesus’ call to come back to God’s ways.
This is the story of someone who morphs from
“collector of money” to “giver of money”!.
This, in a way, is a picture of redemption — as
people rise above their personal limitations and
see the supernatural potential of their own lives
through their generous giving.
9. Generous people give out of their own
poverty: We see it in Luke 21:1-4 , again, in Jesus’
observations about the widow’s mite:
“He saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple
treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very
small copper coins. ‘Truly I tell you,’ he said, ‘this
poor widow has put in more than all the others. All
these people gave their gifts out of their wealth;
but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.’”
10. Generous people give when others will
not: In Philippians 4:15-16 , the apostle Paul
laments the lack of response from the churches
he’s encountered.
“Not one church shared with me,” he says. “Only
you”—theChristiansatPhilippi.Evenwhenhewas
46
54. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
ministering to others, far away, in Thessalonica,
the Philippians were giving to his ministry!
Most givers I’ve known like to be part of a
larger giving community. It’s satisfying, perhaps
comforting or reassuring, to know that you’re one
of many giving toward a project. Yet sometimes,
we are called upon as givers to stand alone, to
see a project through to completion even when
others won’t.
This is the kind of situation in which Paul found
himself. Others ignored the need, but one church
— at
Philippi — was willing to give, to provide the
needed support, even if it meant standing alone.
The day may come when you find yourself here
too: You look around, and no one else is giving;
but something inside you says, “Go for it.”
Your personal impact can be enormous. And your
personal journey can be beautifully enriched for
the experience.

DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
SUMMARY
Listen to this, That same day Jesus went out of the
house and sat by the lake. A large crowd gathered
around him. So he got into a boat and sat down.
All the people stayed on the shore. Then Jesus
used stories to teach them many things. He told
them this story:
“A farmer went out to sow seed. While he was
scattering the seed, some of it fell by the road.
The birds came and ate all that seed. Other seed
fell on rocky ground, where there was not enough
dirt. It grew very fast there, because the soil was
not deep. But when the sun rose, it burned the
plants. The plants died because they did not have
deep roots. Some other seed fell among thorny
weeds. The weeds grew and stopped the good
plants from growing. But some of the seed fell on
good ground. There it grew and made grain. Some
plants made 100 times more grain, some 60 times
more, and some 30 times more. You people who
hear me, listen!”
Why Jesus Used Stories to Teach?
The followers came to Jesus and asked, “Why do
you use these stories to teach the people?”
48
56. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
Jesus answered, “Only you can know the secret
truths about God’s kingdom. Those other people
cannot know these secret truths. The people who
have some understanding will be given more.
And they will have even more than they need. But
those who do not have much understanding will
lose even the little understanding that they have.
This is why I use these stories to teach the people:
They see, but they don’t really see. They hear, but
they don’t really hear or understand. So they show
that what Isaiah said about them is true:
But God has blessed you. You understand what
you see with your eyes. And you understand what
you hear with your ears. I can assure you, many
prophets and godly people wanted to see what
you now see. But they did not see it. And many
prophets and godly people wanted to hear what
you now hear. But they did not hear it.
Jesus Explains the Story About Seed
“So listen to the meaning of that story about the
farmer:
“What about the seed that fell by the path? That is
like the people who hear the teaching about God’s
kingdom but do not understand it. The Evil One
49
57. ORUIKOR GABRIEL JEREMIAH
DISCOVERING THE SECRET OF ABUNDANCE
comes and takes away what was planted in their
hearts.
“And what about the seed that fell on rocky ground?
That is like the people who hear the teaching and
quickly and gladly accept it. But they do not let the
teaching go deep into their lives. They keep it only
a short time. As soon as trouble or persecution
comes because of the teaching they accepted,
they give up.
“And what about the seed that fell among the
thorny weeds? That is like the people who hear
the teaching but let worries about this life and love
for money stop it from growing. So it does not
produce a crop in their lives.
“But what about the seed that fell on the good
ground? That is like the people who hear the
teaching and understand it. They grow and
produce a good crop, sometimes 100 times more,
sometimes 60 times more, and sometimes 30
times more.”
My spiritual Father , Pst . Tony Chuks Okorie
