• Ayurveda is the oldest medical literature in the world,

4. AYURVEDA
• Derived from two Sanskrit words Ayu- life & Veda – Knowledge. Ayurveda is nothing but an
experience-based knowledge base of life and life process.
• Ayu means the unbreakable union of body, Atma(life force) and Mana
• Commonly span of life.
• It can be classified as Hita Ayu, Ahita Ayu, Sukha Ayu, Dukha Ayu.
• So the knowledge described about Hita Ayu, Ahita Ayu, Sukha Ayu, Dukha Ayu to full fill Four pursuits
of Life( Dharma, Artha, Kama, Mokhya).
• Ayurveda objective to Swathasya Swatha Rokhyanam Aturasya Vikara prosamanam (Maintain Health
and prevent and cure diseases).
It based on Dosaha, Dhatu and Mala
• It maintains the three dosha or three pillar ( biological forces) i.e , Vata(bio motive force/Nerve
control), Pitta(enzymatic and endocrine ), and Kapha( Immunological, water ). There is physiological
and pathological variation
• This sapta dhatu( Rasa, Rakta, Mamsa, Meda, Asthi, Majja, Sukra) and trimala Mutra, Sakruit, Sweda .

समदोषः समाग्निश्च समधातुमलग्नियः ।
प्रसन्नात्मेन्द्रियमनाः स्वस्थ इत्यग्निधीयते ॥

(िठराजि), रसाजद सात धातु, सम अवस्था में तथा स्स्थर
रहते हैं, मल मूत्राजद की जिया ठीक होती है और शरीर

Prasanna ātma indriya manah svastha iti
abhidhīyate
One who is established in Self, who has
balanced dosas (primary life force), balanced
agni (fire of digestion), properly formed
dhatus (tissues), proper elimination of malas
(waste products), well-functioning bodily
processes, and whose mind, soul and senses
are full of bliss is called a healthy person.

7. PREVENTIVE AYURVEDA
• Tri upasthama – Ahara, Nidra , Brmhacharya
• Ahara- Shrira Ahara sambhaba, Rogastu ahara sambhava
• Composition of ahara- satrasa, more plant-based , 20-30% carb,
• Classification- as per Manas prakruti,

• Nidra- 6 hour( Time- 10PM – 4pm)
• Yoga nidra – Induction of sleep
• Branha charya - one's own Self, ultimate unchanging reality, absolute consciousness. It usually
includes cleanliness, ahimsa, simple living, studies, meditation, and voluntary restraints on
certain foods (eating only Sattvic food), on intoxicants, and on sexual behavior (both sex and
masturbation, in some schools of thought)

1. व्यायामात् लिते स्वास्थ्यं दीर्ाायुष्यं बलं सुखं। आरोग्यं परमं िाग्यं स्वास्थ्यं सर्ााथासाधनम् ॥
व्यायाम से स्वास्थ्य, लम्बी आयु, बल और सुख की प्रास्ि होती है। जनरोगी होना िरम भाग्य है और स्वास्थ्य से

16. EXPERIENCE
• A 32-year-old odia rickshaw driver
came to our OPD with yellow
discoloration of eye and skin ,
dark urine, nausea, anorexia, mild
pedal oedema, mild abdominal
distention since one years. He
had taken treatment in all leading
hospital including AIIMS,
Bhubaneswar and Apollo.
• The Patient has the H/O taking
alcohol- 300ml (country
spirit/liquor >36%alcohol) daily
since five years.
